Make believe - Morocco, NYC, Hollywood

Although I am on holiday, today, in the name of doing research for Jake Gyllenhaal's Prince of Persia Disney Experience (sure to have a ride of its own one day), I did a tour of Disney World's own World Showcase at EPCOT and headed straight for Morocco. The photos yesterday from the PoP set at Pinewood were in my mind, and the authenticity of the Disney Morocco was verified for good when I spotted the camel wearing a fez. I half expected to see the Prince and his brothers leading vast cavalries through the narrow streets and casbahs. Just as well they didn't, or they would have been in Italy or France. No Persia at EPCOT, I'm afraid, so Morocco stood in for it.

Other countries experienced today include Mexico, with the pesky ibises, the American Adventure (where I was presented with a 'Malibu veggiburger') and the United Kingdom's Rose and Crown pub. I also managed to make time to go into space, land on Mars and soar over California (I didn't spot Jake). My heart was warmed indeed to see so many people wearing I Love WDW sweatshirts, even though they featured a mouse and not Jake...

Uncertainty also surrounds which continent Jake is on at the moment, and that will continue until we get to see the first fresh photos of him out and about - will he need a bobble hat, scarf and mittens? Or will a t-shirt and a light sweater do? Little clues suggest perhaps that filming is done. The Daily Mail is reporting, in its inimitable fashion, that the Princess of Persia, Gemma Arterton, has moved on from her handsome riding instructor Eduardo, who was also a stuntman on PoP, and he is now home in Spain and not in Pinewood. (Reading this article, I discover that the first name of Gemma's character in Quantum of Solace, Miss Fields, was Strawberry.)

PoP has an abundance of handsome men - another is Icelandic actor Gisli Orn Gardarsson, whom, we learn from The Times, is shortly to take to the boards of the RSC in Stratford. It seems Gisli impressed PoP's Mike Newell during his trampolining and bungeeing turn as Romeo. In PoP Gisli plays an assassin - no doubt a fearsome opponent for Jake's Prince. His theatre credentials are impressive - one hopes that appearing in PoP will give Gisli the means and opportunities to fund and develop further unusual interpretations of classic characters. One hopes the same for Jake.

The North East of the US is suffering from some cold chills at the moment, but that can't get in the way of Christmas (or birthday present) shopping. Three generations of Gyllenladies have been seen out in NYC - Maggie, Ramona and Naomi. You can see some pictures here of Ramona - who looks the spitting image of her mother. Maggie looks amazing here.

I must thank Stephanie at IHJ for posting a scan of the new triple feature DVD cover, which I mentioned a few days ago. She knows I love this picture and I'm very pleased to see it look so good and so big when clicked on.

And finally

Almost completely off topic (not that that usually stops me), I wanted to post a picture of Cate Blanchett receiving her star in Hollywood this week, with directors Stephen Spielberg and David Fincher by her side. I hope that one of these days we will see David and Ang Lee stand on either side of another talented young actor as he leaves his mark on the streets of Hollywood.

Includes pictures from IHJ, WDW and links.

"I Love WDW sweatshirts"
I want a shirt!

I loved the boots of Maggie!
Thanks for posting!

Cate Blanchett is one of my favorite actresses!
My friend (the film critic) saw Benjamin Button and said the film is wonderful.

Night Monica! Good to see you :D I want one of those shirts too - I could cross out Mickey and stick Jake over the top... Maggie looks lovely in these pictures - I like the hat and the boots.

I'm so glad to hear your friend enjoyed Benjamin Button - I'm really looking forward to seeing it - I did love seeing the pictures of Cate with David. All part of the extended Jake family :D

Have a good night :D I think we may be on similar timezones now?

My word is rulball, which is not a sport I know too well. Talking of sport, I saw a baby at Disney today wearing a Redsox cap and wrapped in a Redsox towel :D

Hi WDW can you get me a I Love WDW sweater with 4 leg holes? Its cold here now so I need a warm sweater. You can get me a I Love WDW regular tee shirt or a I Love WDW muscle tee or a I Love WDW tank top or even a sexy white I Love WDW bitchbeater if they have them if you want instead (all of them) but I can't wear those in Beverly Hills and WeHo until summer or next time it gets really hot. Or maybe a I Love WDW hat (size 1), I can wear it all year round. I want something that says I Love WDW so bad! Btw I wear Male/Stud sweater-shirt size GS. I love you WDW.

My word is abusban, thats weird how does Blogger know because thats what Daddy and everyone told me, I can't run after buses or cars no more.

Btw WDW Daddy doesn't know I sell his stuff for a lot of money and I'm rich so don't tell him, its our secret between you and me and Monica ok?

OMG! Atti, you are without doubt a dog without rival - love ya! I would love to fill your dog wardrove with I love WDW shirts, and hats, and booties. Muscle stud size 1 :D I wouldn't dream of telling anyone that you're selling all Jake's stuff on eBay :) Love you too!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Will do, Atti! Wouldn't mind one myself. Ugh, a tailwarmer, just the thought... or, as my google word says, plogusne.

Disneyland management has fired the four actors who played pirate Jack Sparrow because officials were worried about young female park-goers flashing the swashbuckling actors

Hey Disneyland, just wait until Prince of Persia. You ain't seen nothin yet! heh.

Wait'll they see Prince of Persia as Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince of Persia!

Morning everyon! My word is Bungis - that is just not charming..

Hi LOL! That is so funny! I remember seeing one of those actors in Disneyland - he looked like he should be quite safe :D And yes, Salivating Already, imagine a park full of Jake Prince lookalikes (if such a thing is possible) - the first aiders will be busy :D

Have a good day everyone :)

Bungis? It looks more like triabnud.

Benjamin Button has had previews/trailers, but it isn't playing anywhere here yet. I'm not a big fan of Brad Pitt, though I've seen a few good performances from him. Maybe he saves his best work for Angelina. ;-)

It was in the lower 20s (F) here last night. The ground had a dusting of snow. Yesterday afternoon I sang in a big Christmas concert that focussed on jazz and spirituals.

I hope Jake's parents are doing well as they await the finalization of their divorce.

I'm glad you are enjoying yourself at the magic kingdom, WDW. I bet it's alot warmer down there then here in Virginia. I gotta go outside and help decorate my friend's house.

Maggie looks nice, that is pretty much what I will look like once I'm done wrapping myself up for the cold.

have fun

Gemma, glad you know how to say goodbye to latin lovers - they are stations along the way, sure enuff.
But bound to disappoint.

Let's see, what else - OMG haha girls flashing their breasts at Jack Sparrow hotties, who are these guys? Male versions of burlesque queens, or whut? I want to know more! LOL can you provide a link?

I would love to be in Key West right now lolling (lol-ing?) in a hot tub, lookin' up at the sky through swaying palm trees. . . .

Hope the weather's warm, WDW, can't bear to check the Fla. temps, it would be too TEMPTING :D

Hi all,

Glad you are enjoying WDW, WDW! ;)

Cool pics and news. Maggie looks very nice and I love Cate B. too. Lucky she is to have worked with both Speilberg and Fincher. Seeing that pic of Jake on the horse is awesome. And I like the 3 dvd set.

As Pia in MA, it is bitter, freezing cold here in NYC. I wanna be in warm Fla. or CA too. Whhaaa! :p

My word is regangi..that just makes me lol.

Hi there everyone! Hope you all had/are having a good Monday. I feel a little guilty about the sun here - the Weather Channel is informing me that much of the US is freezing its bits off, and it's not much better at home. I hope you're all wrapped up. I'll say it quietly - it should be in the 80s tomorrow and my nose is a gorgeous shade of fuschia :D

Hi there Paul :D I feel like that about Brad Pitt too, but I really want to see this film. I was listening to the Zodiac soundtrack today and I do believe that film will be very difficult to beat. Just love it. The concert sounds lovely :)

Hi Sweetpea - that sounds very Christmassy :D I must say that when I leave here I'll be hppy if I never here a Christmas Carol again - they're playing Little Drummer Boy everywhere here...

Blimey Pia! Stay indoors! I like Maggie's coat too, like the shape of it. There is a link above to the Jack Sparrow story and I chuckled at the idea that he's been replaced by Tinkerbells! (Although they deny that...). Love Key West :)

Hi there Get Real! I wish you were in warm Florida too! And Jake... But I love NYC at Christmas :D My word is unter - very dull compared to some of the ones here.

Have a good evening/night everyone!
