Jake Gyllenhaal out without a hat [Updated]! And Toby's epic journey

With only hours (well, a day and a a bit) before the Golden Globes awards on Sunday night, Jake Gyllenhaal has been practising going outside without a beanie. Giving us a greatly desired glimpse of his Rendition-esque hair, Jake and Reese attended the Golden Globes reception party at the Buffalo Club in Santa Monica on Friday night. But, while Jake can give, he can also take away - he may have uncovered the hair, but sleeves?! Surely, those are unnecessary.

Edited to add that you can see a selection of photos of some of the other stars who attended the party here - there are some very familiar faces from Jake's career here, including Jared Leto, Zooey Deschanel and the lovely Emmy Rossum - plus Jerry PoP Bruckheimer. Thanks to IHJ for some extra pics!

Toby's Bafta nomination

Meanwhile, on the other side of the pond, Jake's fellow Persian Prince Toby Kebbell has been nominated for the Orange Rising Star Award at the Baftas (to be held on Februray 8). Toby's been talking about this great news as well as his career over the last year, and seems almost relieved that the filming of PoP is over. Neverthless, having called the filmshoot phenomenal, Toby goes on to say 'I never like to say phenomenal when you're wearing the same beard for nine months and you have to brush it out for nine hours. It's like pubes, always like that! [It was] 54 degrees centigrade on the edge of the Sahara in 18 kilos of armour on horseback. But they're like epic journeys in themselves. I'm blessed, I've got nothing to complain about.' And he got to see Jake's arms on a regular basis.

Beanie-wearing Toby did tell the Sun that being able to eat during the PoP filming was a big improvement on RocknRolla.

Pictures from here and the BBC.

Attention Jake: This was the wrong occasion for those boots. Please don't wear them tomorrow night.

Now that I FINALLY see Jake's hair, I want him to cut it even shorter. I'm selfish. I know.

Hi BandGeek! I must admit to checking out Jake's shoes straigt away when I saw thse pictures. Although they're better than the boots Jake wore on his birthday (with this suit possibly), they're not up to the Globes!

I love how we give Jake advice :D I'm sure Jake'll be happy when he can do what he likes with his hair!

Good night, wet dark!

Finally: no beanie!: D: D
The hair with red tones are beautiful, but the shoes ...:D:D

Night Monica! When Jake was filming Rendition his hair had some red in it - I really noticed it at the Baftas. I wonder if it just goes like that when long and in the sun. But, yeah! the boots :D

Mmmm.... the hair looks a bit stiff and I guess he still under obligation to keep it in certain shape, no wonder he's covering it... but I am sure it will look great when the night comes.

But the scarf again! *awww*

BBC's Entertainment news has a short report of that GG party, but no sight of Jake there...

Hi there Winterbird! Jake is such a slave to his hair during his movies - he didn't like his Rendition hair, so he can't like this. I wonder if he'll do anything with it tomorrow. Maybe he should wear his PoP costume!

Have a good night :D I hope we'll get above freezing tomorrow.

Wellll. His sideburns lack definition, and there's always the danger he may use too much "product" tomorrow...but nevertheless, this is a huge improvement over the beanies. It's a wonder he has any jackets that fit him as big as his arms are!!!

Remember he said he never had good hair in his movies? LOL...

I think Jack Twist has the best hair though :)

And Proof... but err... no, still can't re-watch that movie.

Should be back to 8 degrees tomorrow, but rainy and windy comes Monday - ergh - just in time to get back to the office.

have a good evening! it's pizza night for me.

Hi Anon! Yeah, maybe that's why he keeps rewearing this jacket, as it's the only one to fit the bulges :P You're right, Jake can go overboard on product, especially if he's worried about his hair, but I'm sure he's been giving it some thought. Can't wait to see!

Ooh, pizza sounds good, Winterbird. I wish someone would take all these Hotel Chocolat chocolates away from me before I balloon... Oh yes, I remember that quote. Proof is the exception but I prefer to look at pictures and not the film itself :D I liked Jack Twist in his hat most of all - later on I couldn't get past the tache.

8 degrees. Lovely. I'll get out the deck chair... roll on the spring!

Jake is finished shooting with PoP but probably can't cut his hair short like he wants because it has to be longer/medium for the next project. Kinda like when you wante to get your hair trimmed so bad but if you do you won't be able to put it up for an upcoming special occaisin.

What is Jake's next project? And when does it start? Anyone know yet?

Oh Jake, put the beanie back on -I'd never thought that I would say that, LOL! But this has to be the worst haircut he ever had! Does he have to keep it long so that they can easily put back the extensions if they find out they have to reshoot some PoP stuff? Or is this foreboding of a 70ies Joe Namath hairdo(n't)?
Anon 22:05 said the "sideburns lack definition" - agree! And that is one of the worst things!!
I am really curious what he will do with it tonight!

Valid question, JoeAnn! What IS his next project?? I really would like to know! What and when??
(at least one person here can look past his hair and get to the more meaningful things, thank you JoeAnn,LOL! On the other hand - are there really more meaningful things than Jake's hair?)

Ugh, it's still freezing here! 9:30 in the morning and it is still -10,5°C on my balcony - 2nd floor, so I suspect it must be even colder down there!
And I have to back to work tomorrow, that is going to be nasty...
Enjoy your Sunday y'all!

Good morning everyone :D

Hi Chignon! One thing's for sure, if Jake could have cut his hair he would've done. I'm wondering if he needs to keep it long just in case they need him back to shoot some extra PoP bits and pieces. Apparently, they did this with the Pirates' cast too.

Hey JoeAnn :D It'd be good to know, wouldn't it? One supposes it must be the Moon Project or Namath but who knows which and who knows whether there'll be another big surprise (just as PoP was when it was announced).

Morning Uli! Oh, you're so fickle!! Poor Jake and his beanie and then with his hair :DD This is a bad haircut for sure - if that's how it's going to look for an entire movie, such as Namath, gulp... It's above freezing here today for the first time in days! I can see the grass outside! Good luck with your first day back at work tomorrow :) (I've always wanted a balcony..)

Have a lovely Sunday everyone! It's GG Day :D

i have heard that they are doing some re shoots in la so that is why jakes hair is still a little bit long so they can put in the hair extensions for the reshoots

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon :D That would make sense. I remember that Jake had to go back to do some etra shots for Bubble Boy and he had Moonlight Mile hair by then! Also, Jake had to go back for Zodiac of course, but the hair wasn't a problem for that one. If you have long hair/extensions, it would be. I would have thought that we will know when Jake has completely finished with PoP as on that day his hair will be back to Interview mag length! Oh, I love talking about Jake's hair...

I'm baking so I have to dash...

Morning Monica! That is quite a list - the Oscars will have a job on its hands to beat that line-up!

I'm feeling some sympathy for Jake at this point. When he's making a movie or presenting at some awards show, his hair has to appeal to someone else. When he's wearing it the way he really wants, it may not appeal to some of his fans. I think it seems curlier than it used to. Are the curls natural, or does he undergo some process to make them curl?

My dream Oscar lineup would have David Harbour ("Revolutionary Road"), Heath Ledger ("Dark Knight"), and Anne Hathaway ("Rachel Getting Married") get nominations. All three of them were in "Brokeback Mountain" with Jake. I don't think Jake will get nominated for "Rendition."

I am very excited for tonight! And now Maggie is presenting too. :) I really hope we get pics of Jake and Maggie together.

Have a nice Sunday. Off to see Benjamin Button now, which Jake is presenting!

Hi Paul! Jake's hair does tend to get a bit curly when it grows. There's been a bit of attention here for Kate Winslet for tonight, and that Revolutionary Road just looks wonderful. I've not see Anne's film yet - it's just her comedy with Kate Hudson showing here at the moment.

Hey Get Real! It would be wonderful if we had pics of Jake and Maggie together, perhaps on the red carpet! Enjoy Benjamin Button :D Be great to see Jake giving an award to Fincher! I haven't seen a list yet of who's presenting what. Have a good time :D

Have a good evening everyone!
