Demonstrating that there are parts of the northern hemisphere ice- and snow-free this weekend, Jake Gyllenhaal was out and about yesterday, with Reese and with friends, modelling a number of different looks (some involving bare legs). And chief amongst them was this look... Jake threw off his hat, put a grin on his face and gave us a great view of the kind of hair that does exactly what it wants to do.
It was not to last. Before long, Jake was to don a questionable hat.
But, it could have been worse...
As well as Venice Beach (Jake, Reese and friends had lunch at Axe), Jake and Reese also went shopping at the wonderful Ron Herman shop in Brentwood. Here, Jake modelled the 2009 way to wear sunglasses. This way, you can get away with wearing them at night.
There was also time for a coffee and pastry.
Many thanks to IHJ and Faded Youth Blog for the pics.

Thanks for the pics WDW. Jake looks good... and very young.... Continuing from yesterday's tenuous link between Benjamin Button and October Sky.. I didn't want to use spoilers but since you asked ;D....the music was the same when Benjamin gets younger and romantic as when Homer leaning ont the car says "Hello Valentine" *melts* and they look into each other's eyes.
Mmmmmmh, real shoes in the first pics - hairy legs in the last ones!
Lovely! LOL!
Have a good day everyone at WDW! :)
Afternoon Sheba! Ooh thanks for that. I thought some music sounded familiar. I have the Button soundtrack so I'll listen more closely.
Hi Uli! Ahh, I'm glad you're enjoying Jake's leghair :D Leghair and headhair in one post - it's almost too much (although I think chesthair would have been good as well...) Have a good day!
The blog's going a bit loopy. Second attempt at posting.
You got the soundtrack to BB already? Great. There's some good mood music in the film.
Allow me to fan-girl a bit today only please :DD Jake's bod looks so lithe and 'fit' in that brown top. His youthful look is taking me back to 2006 - the nostalgic days.
Hi Uli, *waves to Uli* How are ya kid? Hope you're keeping snow-free and warm.
Ooh, sorry you're having trouble, Sheba. Knowing me, it's not surprising it goes a bit loopy now and again :D
Fangirl all you want, Sheba, Jake looks gorgeous! Those pictures without the hat and with the big smile are simply adorable.
Started snowing again, sigh :(
Remember the pictures of Jake walking on the beach with Boo and a guy who resembled Adam Levine? These pictures are about three years old. It looked like a windy day and Jake had on a warm jacket and his hair was all blowing?
I know. I need a life. But one of these guys looks like the same one.
WDW, love these pictures! Have the BAFTA red carpet arrivals begun yet? Here in the USA we always have to wait for these things!
*waves back to Sheba*
No snow here - although they have been talking about it again these days. I hope there will be nothing where I live. I've got no use for snow anymore till December...
Good to see you around here more often again! LOL, it seemed you kind of disappeared around the time I finally started to post more regularly... ;)
Agree about the melting from Homer's "Hi Valentine!"! The way he says it is to die for... Poor boy...
Hi there everyone! Just watching Brad and Angelina on a wet but very glamorous Bafta red carpet! Ahhh, the memories...
Hi there Anon! Yes, I recognised that guy too. Good to see Jake out with old friends. I loved those beach pics :D
Goldie Hawn of all people on the red carpet. Kate Winslet looking gorgeous! Mickey Rourke smoking down the red carpet... :/
Hi Thetsma Jones!! Yes, the main bit of the red carpet is in full swing now.
Waves at Uli! You can have some of our snow - it's really coming down here again and tomorrow we have warnings of a winter storm with blizzards :( Hope you're having a good evening!
Penelope Cruz being interviewed now. The interviewer just told her to put a nice, warm jumper on :D
Thanks Uli, missed you too. I apologised for my absence to WDW about 3 posts back where RL and another tall, dark and handsome had diverted my attention. But now Jake has my partial attention again ;DD
They've just done a tribute to Heath on the red carpet. So bittersweet.
Must revisit October Sky again, such a good, heartwarming, understated relevant-for-today performance.
Yeah, I saw your "apology" ;), which was a good reason to stay away from here! It's good that you can focus on Jake again now, though! ;)
I haven't seen many (too many) of Jake's movies for a long time... October Sky is certainly one of them!
Need to set up a schedule! :D :D
WDW I can't thank you enough...after cooking lunch for the family and working more than I wanted to, I just got to your blog and Ta Daaaaa! How beautiful!
Now Sheba made me blush because I've never asked permission to fan-girl. Oh gosh...I'm lame.
Rainy Sunday over here...watching BAFTA's red carpet would be nice if I knew how. Is there a web page running it?
Have a good (end of) day, ladies.
(Atti said he loves me or it's just me?)
Hehehe, Uli, I take it you don't buy it. OK, I've got a lot of making up to do around here I guess.
Hey Monica O. I usually like to keep it about the work but that bod in black is screaming out to be worshipped ;D
It was great discovering Jake back in Jan 2006 and going out there to get hold of every DVD of all of his work. It was like christmas come early again. Now, it's excrutiating waiting for the movies to be released. I feel some theatre coming on - West End or Stratford. Any fantastic theatre scriptwriters out there want to entice HRH back to the UK?
LOL! On the Red Carpet RDJ just declared himself and honorary African-American. You so are baby :DD
HAAAAAIIIIIIR! I love Jake's hair!
Reese looks so happy! I love these two!
P.S. - My word today is "chives". Yuck!
Hi Sheba! I missed the Heath tribute - I must have been on the wrong news channel. I'm looking forward to the awards itself - 15 mins to go. I'm glad Jake has got your attention again, even if it is partial :DD
Uli, you must see October Sky again, maybe we should set up a schedule for us all :)
Hey Monnie O! Love the new Atti name! (even though I'm jealous...). The soggy red carpet is over now. It feels funny watching it with no Jake and no me there in the freezing cold, and none of my friends and no Heath. I do hope the stars realise how many hours fans have to queue for the valuable wristbands for the red carpet.
Snowing hard here. I hope you have a good Sunday full of plenju (that's my word..).
Posting at the same time, Sheba! Ooh, I missed RDJ too! I'm hopeless... what a great line. Yep, the long wait between Jake films isn't easy.
Hi Bandgeek! The hair looks lovely! Ugh I'm allergic to chives...
Oh, no, Sheba! I just put the apology between these things "" because I didn't want to make you feel like I seriously think you need to apologize!
But I sure will be glad to see you making up here for your absence!!
It was the same for me - getting all of Jake's movies in a rush - only for me it was spring/ summer 2006 - and now it's torture to have to wait so long...
I really hope we will at least get two new movies this year - to make up for the long wait!!
Hi Uli!
Just seen David Fincher in the audience looking yum. Seems to be going between Slumdog and Ben Button so far - 2 all!
HEATH WON!
The producer accepted it (the guy we couldn't recognise on TDK red carpet). Wonderful and sad and wonderful
YES! GO HEATH! Thanks for the update WDW! That's fabulous news, next stop: OSCARS!
Oh god, I'll be a mess if a Ledger family member accepts!
It's great news, Amy! But so sad too.
I was glad to see Terry Gilliam get a special award and a standing ovation too.
Great BAFTAs with some boring speeches and no Jake. Danny Boyle didn't disappoint neither did Mickey Rourke. I wanted to shout "David, show us your bum". For every accolade Benjamin Button wins I'll take it for Zodiac which cost a quarter of Button's budget but IMHO is superior in the storyline.
Dammit, he should've been there :o(
Hey there. :)
Oh, great new casual Jake pics and we get to see the hair! Nice.
Thanks for the BAFTA's info. So glad Heath won. I have the DVR set to tape it on BBCAmerica later on tonight!
Good night, wet dark!
Jake is great!. He finally showed a bit of hair.
Congrats Heath!!
:):):)
Hi Get Real! Jake + hair is a treat indeed. I'm glad you can see more yourself on BBC America tonight.
Night Monica! I feel sad, happy and warm, all at the same time this evening. Meanwhile, the snow carries on falling outside.
Sweet, lovely Heath. I'm finding this particular journey very painful. And I've never even met you. This must rip the heart out of your family and your friends. And yet, how proud we all are.
Sorry but jake looks RE-VOL-TING he really needs to do something with that hair.
Reese looks great as usual.
So true Anon, it's so hollow but totally worthy. The tiny consolation is that in the future, Matilda will know how much her father was respected for his art.
Hi Anon :) What a lovely comment - it is a very difficult journey. I can't imagine what it's like for Heath's family.
Definitely, Sheba :D
Morning everyone! Rushed off my feet here and The Winter Storm is on the way... Have a good day.
