Mission success! Jake's amazing handshake with Mike White 23 March

Good job everyone! The profuse apologies (see earlier post this evening) to Jake Gyllenhaal for being less than flattering about his hats and socks have done the trick and brought him out of the woodwork. Today, Jake met up with old Good Girl friend Mike White for lunch at Brentwood's Le Pain Quotidien, home of the astounding pastries. And here we can see Mike and Jake sharing the Secret Handshake and Wrist Grip.

Loving the hoodie, Jake! I'm perturbed by the undone laces but I'm not going to mention that here...

Mike was both a writer of, and an actor in, The Good Girl back in 2002.

Mike and his father have been entertaining many of us with their courteous and constantly cheerful double act on the current series of The Amazing Race*. *Please don't tell me what happened on the last show, I'm watching it with timelag - Go Mike and Mel!

Many thanks to IHJ for the pictures.

Hi everyone! So good to see Jake again - and with the wonderful Mike White - we have to be kind about the outfit... :D

I like Mike White! He wrote "school of rock" too which is one movie that I never got tired of re-watching :)

That's some handshake... in fact, there's a scene in school of rock just like that! :)

Glad to see Jake out and about with his friend - I don't mind if it's work-related too... I like the idea of Jake teaming up with Jack Black in a Mike White script :)

Good to see you Winterbird! Hope you had a good break :D I didn't know Mike did School of Rock too - loved that. It would be great to see Jake and Mike (and Jack Black!) working together and it's good to see Jake having such a laugh :D

Hey Monica O! Yeay :D And yes, the hoodie is hot - Jake is hot!

Hi there Get Real! I've been enjoying see Mike and his dad doing so well on the Amazing Race - great to see Mike out with Jake. Oh, the pastries of Le Pain. There's a Le Pain next to Urth cafe on Melrose in BH from what I remember and the inner conflict as you have to make the choice. I wish there was one near me too!

Hey! It worked! :D And you know what, I don`t have anything to say about the outfit because I`m totally dazzled by that beautiful, genuine smile. Thank you Jake for taking pity on us!
