Just sit back, kick off your shoes, pour a glass, get out some nibbles and relax, and take a longer, slower look at Jake Gyllenhaal as the sexily distressed and hotly active Prince of Persia, courtesy of IHJ.
The ABC video gives everyone a good view of a Jake Gyllenhaal they may not be accustomed to and comments about the plot of the film and its take on the much-loved game are shoved to one side by the reactions of open-mouthed and goggle-eyed viewers. I enjoyed Cinematical's article, for instance, but I had to marvel at this: 'It would be nice to see something from Prince of Persia other than Jake Gyllenhaal's incredible physique, wouldn't it?' Really? Can't we have more of it instead?
The images of an all action, bare-chested, sword-slashing, wall-leaping, feisty princess-rescuing, street-urchining, armour-wearing Jake were a little too late to stop Jake's slide in the AfterEltop Hot 100, which was announced today. After two years' running at the top, Jake was number 4 today. But, as AfterElton said: 'The Brokeback Mountain star has three movies in post-production for release in 2009, and they show the range of this talented young actor. He’ll come to us first in Brothers, an Afghan war-era tearjerker, followed by the political satire Nailed. Then we get to the prize: Prince of Persia, based on the video game. Pictures from the set of Persia show Jake as a buff, ripped, action star, defying gravity and defeating the bad guys as his long hair ripples in the wind. So, yes, the lovable Jake slipped a little this year. Call it out of sight, out of mind. But something tells us that come next year, Jake will have a good shot at regaining his Hot 100 crown.'
Jake's much admired muscles continue to be put to good use - yesterday (May 10) Jake was seen at the Whole Foods Brentwood store. It would seem impolite not to call attention to Jake's tongue at this point.
I need to see this again:
Many thanks to IHJ for the pictures!

Oh myyy godddddddd
absolute YUM!
0:10!!!
i won't be able to watch this in the cinema..i'll be squealing all the way through :P
Let me pick my jaw off the floor WOW. Thank you so much for hot new Jake. The picture I love is the solitary figure in the distance. And the bloodied one with Gemma. Fantabulous xx
That is a lot of grocery bags. Isn't Brentwood Reese' neighborhood? I wonder if he's done a family grocery store shopping. And now that I've caught my breath, I love the new pictures of the Prince. This is a movie worth waiting for. But the sooner the better.
Hey Silver! It's gonna be tough but we can do it - we can endure two hours of Jake as the Prince and not be carried out of theatres on a stretcher. That is our mission!
Sheba, those two pics are my favourites amongst these too! Fantabulous :)
Hi Gail! If you're gonna go shopping, buy in bulk, that's my motto :) I certainly wouldn't be able to carry my bags to the car, but those muscles... sigh. I think that's Reese's neighbourhood. Definitely a movie worth waiting for :D And wait we will :)
*whimper*
My knees go weak....
The power of the Prince :)
I was posting from my BlackBerry and the pictures were taking an age to load and didn't see this YouTube clip - just watched it and am so excited... what was this 2nd look with Bruckheimer from?
I am still swooning...sigh...and new pics...sighs again...
Needed this on a Monday.
Hey Winterbird's seen the video! Hot, eh? :D I like that - the Power of the Prince...
The video's great, Sheba! It's from a First Look movie preview on ABC, which must have aired this week - let's hope we get a lot more. I think we will :)
Hi Get Real! I've had quite a Monday too - this video and these wonderful glimpses of Jake have done the trick :)
Oh my god this is just what I needed after having a horrific Monday!!!
How hot does Jake look. These pictures and the clip are fabulous. I don't know how we are going to contain ourselves when it finally gets to the cinema:)
These pictures have made my day.
Hi Carol! I think we may need medical support - I hope the cinemas will be able to cope :D
*shoes kicked off, and now sipping a glass of Australian chardonnay*
Oh oh, my poor heart! A second look is even more satisfying than the first one. How else can we best savour the winning smile, the well-defined muscles & so many other treats the Prince has to offer?
Shame about slipping to no. 4, but Jake should regain his rightful place once his films are finally released!
Good night, WDW & all!
Paola
Good morning everyone! Blowy out there...
Hi Paola! That sounds like a nice evening. I think I may have worn this video out :D
I hope everyone has a great day :)
"What does JG bring to the role of the Prince of Persia?"
1. He's very handsome.
2. He's in great shape.
3. Brilliant actor
If I were Jake, I would not be entirely satisfied with the order of those answers.
I have to agree Anon 11:02. I was also a bit irritated about that...
Although... He IS very handsome... ;)
Have a good day everyone!! :)
Hi 11:02 :D It would definitely be good to have the talented at the topn, but I was very happy to hear Bruckheimer say it was Jake's talent they wanted.
Hi Uli! Yep, he is a bit ;D
Is it home time yet...?
I can't wait for this film to come out!!! Finally we will see Jake talking "normally"...
LOL, I just noticed that on the seventh pic from the top (the one with Jake standing in the crowd of people) it looks like he has a huge ball made of grey wool on his head... Nice! :D :D
Anon 13:13 - What do you mean with "Jake talking 'normally'"?
Made it home from work after a Day and A Half! Done in...
Hi Anon :D I can't wait either - if you mean hearing Jake talk about roles and the like etc, I do agree.
Hey Uli! OMG that's funny - that's the sound hamster! Or maybe it is a lovely authentic 6th-century wool hat - kind of like a medieval beanie :D
I wish Jake could carried my groceries bags :)) he is so OMG.
Thanks WDW.. :))
I've watched this video clip so many times now I've lost count! It's making it hard to get my work done! (Not a bad problem to have though).
I'm glad everyone is enjoying this as much as I am. Of course I want more now. :)
Hi Flower! Same here :D
Evenin' BBMISwear :D I can't imagine what it'll be like watching PoP on the big screen - time after time - and then on DVD! We need more!
Gosh, I was hoping against hope that "Prince of Persia" would have a well-written script with intelligent, witty dialogue, but now it looks like a lot of beefcake... (just kidding!~ ;-).)
As for those of you who won't be able to concentrate on the plot because of the feast for the eyes, you can always watch the film a few more times, until it all sinks in...
I am amazed at reading comments of the new "Star Trek" movie, and seeing how many people have *already* seen that film many times. I can't find any direct links between Jake and "Star Trek,"
but there's an indirect link with my favorite teenage actor, Anton Yelchin (who plays Chekhov in "Star Trek.") Yelchin was in "Charlie Bartlett" with Robert Downey Jr, who of course was in Zodiac with Jake.
For those of you who are impatient for an action-adventure movie and can't wait for "Prince of Persia," I do recommend "Star Trek." It's exhilarating, with a lot of nonstop action.
Hi Paul! Very funny! Yep, who needs physique when you can have a good plot? I think that's a good idea about watching it repeatedly until we get the true significance of the story's nuances ;D
I thought Yelchin was great in Star Trek and I do join with you in recommending this film for all - loved it :D
