While there was no sign of Jake Gyllenhaal on the Brothers red carpet last night, possibly due to filming commitments in Pittsburgh, there is plenty to enjoy today as the Brothers countdown continues. Today, for starters, we have a series of interviews with cast and crew, including two interviews with Jake, which appear to have been filmed around the same time as the People and Eyes for Needy photoshoot earlier in the year. I will be back later because there is more.

I love what Jim Sheridan says about Jake! It seems to be a consistent theme from his directors, Ang Lee, Fincher, etc. that he always surprises them with something. He's very organic an spontaneous. I think Sheridan was impressed. Sheridan also had it wrong about Toby"going places he'd never been" etc. Anyone whose seen Seabiscuit or Ciderhouse Rules knows Tobey is an excellent actor.
Just wanted to add that the "truth" of a story is in the script, and how well the characters are drawn and how well the language expresses the characters. Then, the director must interpret that truth in collaboration with his actors.
Wow, what a fantastic set of interviews with Jake - I only watched his because I'm on my way out the door for work soon. I loved the things he said, some of it brought me to tears, about Tommy and his relationship with his family, Grace and her loss. Very complicated and relatable. I'm sure I'm going to need a box of tissues. I loved his impression of Jim too. :)
I agree, I loved Tobey in Seabiscuit, and I loved Seabiscuit. :) Tobey was magnificent in Ciderhouse Rules, and I think he brings that fine acting to Spiderman too - like so many wonderful actors who bring the superhero films up a notch with their talent.

There are so many things I love about those two Jake interviews: his gorgeous hair, his soft soothing voice, the way he speaks with his hands, his Jim Sheridan impression, the way that grey backdrop makes his eyes look so blue... And he should really wear that sweater more often, it's fantastic on him! The Livestrong bracelet was very distracting, though. I didn't think he still wore it.
It's so good to see and hear him for more than a few seconds. Thank you so much WDW for bringing us all those Jake goodies. I'm amazed that you can keep up!

Hi there Anon :D It's very interesting to hear Jake and Jim talk about one another - that Jake always wanted more. I like the idea of Jim phoning Jake up to meet up too (Jake needs to practise his Irish accent!) Some real affection there, I think. Agreed about Tobey, he has more scope than he is often given credit for.
Hey Bertie - it is moving, listening to Jake talk about this family and how much he loves his brother. Jake has such warmth and generosity in the way he talks about this film and his co-stars. I like what you say about superhero actors - it's true, they bring something new and intriguing - like Jake in PoP.
Hi Get Real! I saw the tweets. I'm not so sure if some of them are wishful thinking as Jake was certainly expected to be there but I'm very willing to be proved wrong! There are lots of pictures of the rest of the cast. Jake is certainly back filming again all day today and so won't be making Tobey and Natalie's Q&A tonight unfortunately. I would have loved to have seen Jake posing with the others :)
I see Amanda Peet was there too! Maybe she wanted to have a go at Jake for telling her to be in 2012!
Hey Olympia! He looks gorgeous! There must be more clips from this junket on the way. And yes, the eyes look so blue. The last time Jake wore the band in public was during the summer (on MV) so I think these were done a while ago. I like to see Jake wear it. And I love how he gestures with his hands :)

I was looking at the pics of the red carpet on Getty Images and besides Ang Lee, The Edge was there! I love U2 and need to see after party pics of Jake with The Edge and would love new pics of him with Ang Lee. *Fingers crossed*

Wow! Thanks!! I just finished Jake's part - I missed his voice! And seems like he put a lots of thoughts into the script and the story. I like that he said "I decided that Tommy has certain learning disability" :P

The video interview is great...it made me realize what a long drought we were in for all this time. I missed this type of stuff so much...how great to have it back again!! I have to go back and watch the interview again...so much to pick up when he talks. I didn't have time to watch the others but look forward to that as well. I can't remember looking this forward to a movie in such a long time. The behind the scenes ("B-roll") footage on this site was extremely frustrating...out of 3 clips there was a lot of Natalie and Tobey and approximately 3 seconds of Jake...GRRRR.
There are so many wonderful pictures from the red carpet it's a bit disappointing to not have Jake there. I especially felt it when I saw Natalie and Tobey together and Nat or Tobey with the kids...what wonderful photos we would have had of Jake with this group. *pouts* Oh...and Jim, Ang and The Edge...imagine Jake in that shot?!?! Okay, I have to stop this and focus on what we DO have of Jake and not what we didn't get. Feel free to remind me of that whenever I get this way - LOL!! I don't know about him flying in late and going just to the movie and after party...seems a little silly with his tight filming schedule in Pittsburgh. If the studio and/or PR people were to push him to go it would be to be on the red carpet for the press opps - not a party to eat whatever it was they were eating (interesting photos of the food that was served on the internet too - ha ha)! Time will tell...maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised.
Great work WDW...so much wonderful stuff out there for us to enjoy. We need the 'real world' to slow down for a bit so we can keep up with all this fun stuff!

Hey BBMISwear :-) I do hope you see the other interviews too - I really enjoyed Natalie's, Jim's and Mare's in particular. I'd have liked more from Tobey about Jake but, as the saying goes, never enough Jake. That definitely applies to the B-rolls. In one of the them - in the new post - Jake is there just out of sight and it's frustrating because the few seconds we have are amazing!
I would have loved a pic of Jake, Tobey, Natalie and Jim together. And with The Edge and Ang :) I don't think Jake would be there just for a party either - the red carpet was the important publicity aspect of the evening I would have thought. But yes I'm prepared to be happily wrong!

The curious thing to me is how people say that Jake and Tobey look alike and to tell you the truth I never took notice of that. Maybe now that the kernel has been planted I'll take a better look at them both. All I know is that Jake was reported to be considered to take over the role of Spiderman (a few years ago)for Tobey when Tobey had injured his back. I don't know if that was true or not. But that was the only connection I'd heard about Jake and Tobey.
