[Update]A little tweet has just informed us that Jake is to host SNL once more, this time in Brothers Weekend (5 December). So! How can Jake possibly out perform his last time on the show, a show that has now slipped into legend? Note I'm not mentioning that this is show #666. Off to look for some confirmation...

Judging by the hair and beard, I wonder if this picture was taken a while ago, towards the beginning of this year, perhaps. This is such a good charity to support, speaking as someone who spent her school days wearing enormous glasses that matched the freckles, tied together with white tape and hope. Jake has spoken for New Eyes before.
Jim Sheridan is in Ireland this week and today it was announced: 'Six time Oscar® nominated Irish director Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father) will attend an exclusive Irish Film & Television Academy preview screening of his latest feature film ‘Brothers’ in Dublin on Thursday 19 November 2009. The acclaimed filmmaker will participate in a post screening Q&A with IFTA Academy Members.' While this is not the glamorous Irish premiere that Jim once mentioned (perhaps that will follow closer to the time of the film's release in Ireland), it is good news indeed to see some publicity on this side of the pond as well.

I love the new pic, it's lovely. I wish we had one of him actually wearing the glasses, I bet they look good on him. Pictures where he looks directly into the camera always get to me, I love the softness in his eyes and the barely there smile. And what a great hand shot too!

Oh, I just saw that we're waiting official confirmation on the SNL hosting. I was so excited I hadn't seen it at first. I'm gonna be so disappointed if it's not true!

The scan is lovely indeed. I wonder if he uses contact lenses for work as I do, with the difference that I do not usually get sprayed with freezing cold water on my face... :)

Hi Olympia! It's REALLY exciting! There isn't official confirmation yet but I'd say this is very likely. Jake was a huge success on it and what better way to publicise Brothers. Another good sign is that the tweet mentions the musical act by name so we know it's not a repeat. But yeah, we know all about disappointment, but I'm going to smile about this one for a while and think positive!
It's a beautiful pic! It would be good to have one with Jake wearing the glass too. He's such a great star for this charity.
Hi there Livia! In quite few pics you can see Jake's contact lenses. I wonder if his sunglasses are prescription too. I know I can't manage without mine. Jake mentioned in the Bubble Boy commentary how the bubles in an early bath scene made his nose sore and the director said Jake was wearing his contacts at the time.
I can't see SNL either, but I think we have some safe hands looking after us :)

Brilliant news that there is going to be a Brothers screening in Dublin. There will definitely be a mention of that in the media here and hopefully an interview with Jim about the movie.
I really hope that SNL apearance is true. I didn't think he would do it until next year either.

It is a gorgeous pic and you must see it when the December issue hits stands. That should hopefully be in the next week. I hope you get InStyle in the UK too. I happened to get a free subscription so that is how I got it so early. Jake looks so stunning and the color of his hair and glasses are beautiful. You just want to run your fingers through that hair and snap off the specs....um, is it hot in here. ;p
Jake back on SNL..OMG?!? That would be fantastic. Although I do want to see him on the red carpet at the premiere's with Tobey and Natalie. Hopefully there will be an LA and a NYC premiere for him to be able to attend one of them. Great to hear about the Dublin screening too.

Thanks WDW. I guess we'll have to stay tuned to see if Jake is indeed hosting SNL. During the holiday season SNL often takes a break. I don't know when they plan to show repeats.

I'm hoping for a flood of red carpets, with NYC and LA in December and Dublin in January. I hear that Natalie will be doing a talk show or two around Thanksgiving in the US and so it's good to hear Jake may be doing something. I bet they were so keen to get him back! Fingers crossed!

Hi Sweetpea! At least we know this isn't a repeat of the 2007 Jake SNL show as this time the music is by 50 Cent. I think the new series is underway now but they won't announce their stars until the last minute.

If JKL on 12/3 is true that may mean no SNL on 12/5 as normally they rehearse for SNL during the days leading up to the show. Jimmy Kimmel's show is taped in the evening in Hollywood - not very easy to be there and also be in NYC rehearsing for SNL. Hmmmmm. We need some confirmations!!

If you go to the ticket option on the Jimmy website and then look through the show options, it lists Jake's show at the end - as soldout unfortunately. But it mentions Jake's name.
I think this could fit in with SNL ok because last time Jake rehearsed mostly in advance of the SNL day and he was flying all over the place in between. It could also fit in with a NYC premiere around that time too...

Oh, I see the JKL tickets info now...thanks! (Of course it's sold out)! That certainly is a lot of flying around. I don't see the cast of SNL spending a lot of time rehearsing the week before for SNL (as it's Thanksgiving week) but maybe early in the week of 11/30 - then to LA for talk shows - then back to NYC? UGH to that schedule! That's why he gets paid the big bucks I guess - ha ha!

Still loving all this Jake news! Very cool that he is going on Jimmy Kimmel. If that is true then I doubt SNL will happen because they do take the full week to rehearse and such. Also I have read, I think at IHJ, that he isn't confirmed that this is a rumor. We will see. :)

I do like Jimmy Kimmel. It will be a pity if SNL isn't going to happen but it's better to have something confirmed than rumours that turn out to be nothing more than that.
I can definitely relate to Jake's vision problems. The last time I appeared without eyeglasses in a photo was in first grade, when I was six. After that, I wore glasses. :-(
I think that the capacity for insight and empathy starts to grow when vision deteriorates. Jake has both.

Hi Get Real! I think part of the problem with SNL is that they purposely hide their schedule until the last available minute - all makes life more difficult for us... It's great that the JK show is confirmed. I like that!

Hi Paul :D I think that's true. I do think that if you have trouble seeing that it alters certain things. I think some people with 20:20 vision (mentioning no names, Mr WDW) don't realise how it can be a pain in the bum sometimes. I feel it a bit because I'm also slightly deaf and have rubbish balance. However, I have a beautiful singing voice... (chortle). It's good to know that Jake can empathise with some of this.
We could definitely harmonize, WDW. I'm a tenor. Are you soprano or alto?
