With so many thanks to Stephanie at IHJ, here is Jake Gyllenhaal on Jimmy Kimmel last night - with a new haircut! And we have more merkins, oh yes we do... and naked talk. This bodes very well indeed for Love and Other Drugs. And there are surprises...!

It's a very funny interview - Jake seems to spend his life being accosted by drunk women! And clearly Jake has the merkin on the mind - which suggests great things for Love and Other Drugs!

I am still confused about the real nature of Jake's merkin, though... Is his one of those socklike kind of things I learned about related to QaF (I think they had a celebration where they burnt their socks at the end of the shooting...)? I wish Jake would have shown us his merkin and not only his tatoo... :D :D :D

Hi Anon - I've replaced the Jake videos with other versions. The Ashley ones play fine for me - they're also from the Jimmy Kimmel youTube channels so I doubt there'll be better ones. I suspect it might just be the streaming.
I've also removed the Unscripted video so that you won't have to listen to Jake's other merkin story at the same time! That would be odd :D
Jake is ridiculously funny. I adore him!!! Clearly, merkin is his word of choice these days.(Wiki reference had me spewing soda!)
I don't mind the hair, he looks sweet. I want to touch it! LOL! But overall, I think I like him best with the "artsy poet" look with lots of scruff and longer hair.
LAOD sounds like a movie I will want to see multiple times. If it lives up to Jake's description, it will be the first time we see him in serious love scenes several times. Gwyneth doesn't count, because there wasn't enough skin. Jennifer kept them covered under bedclothes, and Douglas Freeman had to leave for work.
May I just interrupt our festivities for a moment to remember Richard Todd! He's passed away and he was 90! Time flies.
One more thing. He called her "Annie." I loved that!
I noticed the hair! Usually, I like longer hair on him, but this shorter hair looks great on Jake. Also, in the opening pic they had of him, he looked really handsome. I loved the brown suit too, something about the fabric. LaOD sounds good too.
Jake's a comedian, a handsome one. I loved his Steelers tat, wish it had been the Patriots', but what're ya gonna do?
The clip they showed of Brothers made me teary, it was so real. They showed the police scene, but more of it. Seeing it this weekend, will be careful about the spoilers! :)

The first thing I did when I woke up this morning (after pouring a big mug of tea) was go to my DVR and watch last night's Jimmy Kimmel show and OMG I honestly don't even think I have the words to describe how much I loved this interview!!
It is so good to see Jake in that setting we have all seen many times and grew to love so much (and missed so much these past couple of years). Humorous, Gorgeous, Charismatic, Flirtatious, Sexy, Gorgeous, Talkative, Bubbly, Animated, Gorgeous, Fun, Hysterical are just some of the words that pop into my head (okay...I guess I *can* find the words to describe it)!
The merkin talk just has me in hysterics...and the reference to Wikipedia again in which he practically quotes the description of merkins (as we know because we went there and read it ourselves)!! Oh and how he describes LAOD and "Annie"...GUH! Now we have to start that countdown too?! At least it shouldn't be as long a wait as Brothers!
Oh...and...one more thing: Tom Brady and the Patriots!! Whoowhee!! He's not just a Red Sox fan but a Patriot's fan too?! I love how fond he is of the area I live in (obviously all those months he spent here every year growing up stuck with him). That makes me smile. And showing us his gorgeous ass while displaying his "tattoo" was delicious! And staying put while guest number two came on set? Almost unheard of these days but so enjoyable!
Oh...the hair...LOVE IT!! (I guess I shouldn't have said 'one more thing' - sorry). I usually prefer his hair long but there's something about this cut that is really sexy on him. Definitely Jarhead grow out stage as discussed here but it is also reminding me of earlier days too. I can't exactly place it...I think it's more his facial expressions that's bringing me back to The Good Girl days or even Bubble Boy days. Those big eyes and animated expressions of his. Wow. Seriously, Jake not only looks like he isn't aging he actually is looking younger. How does he do that?! He looks so...happy. ;-)

Overall my frustration of Jake not doing the *usual* big talk shows (Conan, Jay, Dave, Ellen etc) is over as him doing an "after midnight" talk show gave us joys that we wouldn't have seen otherwise I think. Bring on the Merkin Talk!!!

They just had a review on New England Cable News of Bros. - a good one, and they called Jake a great American actor, praised his work, and Natalie's and Tobey's, and Jim's.

I was also deeply touched last night, and thru out the promotions for Brothers really,because my Great Great Great Aunt Alopecia Merkin McGillicuddy got a shout out from two of the actors.
She is referenced in the Wikipedia several times and also cross-referenced in a number of 18th Century scientific journals.
I'm always impressed with how fashion forward Jake is. If you noticed his shirt collar and his tie, he was truly well turned out.
Brown suits him, tho I prefer the drama of black.
Jake was so devilish, showing that tattoo! Personally, I thought he gave serious consideration to showing more, but probably didn't want to offend the monastic sensiblilities of the Great Censor who watches over ABC.
I also think Jimmy Kimmel would have fainted away at Jake's sheer audacity. Now there's a word that suits him!

Hi Silver! I know, it's amazing how young Jake looks here. Brothers was filmed from about Nov 2007 until about Feb 2008. A very cold New Mexico winter - I remember that we used to get daily weather reports and it was cold!

Just got home from my first viewing of Brothers. Oh.My.God.
Intense. Has that word been used yet about this movie ?! LOL! Yes, that's the word - Intense.
These 3 actors, and all their supporting actors, were so incredibly great in this movie. It was amazing to watch all that talent on that big screen all at the same time. And Jake, Oh God Jake...this is the point where I can't form complete sentences. I'll just say I am completely in love with Tommy Cahill right now. You all will be soon enough, I Swear!
I will say there is only one thing I am not happy about in regard to this movie. I won't say more as I don't want to spoil for people.
I will be seeing it again tonight at 7:30PM EST. I think you are too Olympia, right? And I think Bertie tomorrow? And I think Carol as soon as she feels comfortable telling her friend she's taking off to go to see Jake Gyllenhaal - LOL! Not sure about Paul or any other people in the US.
