Catching up with Jake Gyllenhaal - twizzlers, pie plates, Ask Jake, bands, Parkour, stuff

This is a bitty post because, you know how it is, you have a weekend away in Austin, Texas, and then there's all the catching up to do. So I've made a Jaking List:

1). Let's get the important stuff out of the way. Here below we have Jake Gyllenhaal with a red stick thing. A source informs me that this alarming object is actually a food item. It is known as a 'twizzler'. In the UK, twizzlers are an abomination - they are made from turkey and have been the subject of a major 'get them banned before they kill us' campaign. I am hoping that the bright red variety is a lot better for Jake than the twisty turkey type.

2). We've had a chance to ask Jerry Bruckheimer our PoP questions on Facebook (and I'm still thrilled they picked one of mine), but now, for a few hours, you can ask the Prince himself! You have til 10pm, London time, to get your questions in for Jake. No mention yet of when the video answers will air. 'Jake, do you regularly eat twizzlers?'

3). Jake's Mellow Johnny's cycling hat, complemented by his friend's shirt, reminds me of a new post at Bike Snob, in which the writer and cyclist waxes lyrical over why he so happy to be in posession of Jake's pie plate.

4). Jake and his friends moved on from sport to music last night and went to see Mumford & Sons play the Troubadour. Not surprisingly, this set Jake's fellow boppers atwittering with tweets congratulating Jake on both his music taste and his hotness. It's not only sportsmen falling at Jake's feet...

5). And continuing the music theme, on Friday 19 February, a video for the new single by Vampire Weekend will premiere on Channel 4 in the UK and, we're assured, it features a Jake Gyllenhaal cameo! 'Exclusive first play of Vampire Weekend's new single Giving Up the Gun, which features cameos from Jake Gyllenhaal and Joe Jonas in the video.' It plays at 22:50 on Rude Tube. I must admit to being intrigued and not a little perplexed. So that's one to watch. Thanks to Karen for the heads up!

6). In a fascinating and revealing interview, writer Ben Ripley discusses the momentum that has propelled Source Code into production...

7)... while Parkour king David Belle talks about bringing parkour into the movies, including Prince of Persia: 'The idea is you move around with the actor to see where his limits are. How much can he do? I can do this. It is up to you as the coordinator to determine where those limits are and whether he needs to be substituted with a stuntman, whether it is a risk that he can handle or not. Unless he is really comfortable with it, it is probably better for him to be substituted with a stunt guy. Now, in the case of Prince of Persia, Jake prepared himself well physically and he was able to do a lot of stuff himself. '

8). Sir Ben Kingsley was on The One Show this evening and he was asked about Shutter Island and not Prince of Persia! What a travesty...

So what have I missed off my list? Oh yes, Jake is hot.

Wow, so much stuff!

Do people really eat those UK Twizzlers?! They look and sound disgusting! But the candy Twizzler is very good, it's strawberry licorice. I may have squeed a little when I saw Jake eat some. I love to eat Twizzlers when I go to a hockey game. :)

That's so great that Jake will answer POP questions on video! Hmmmm, I think I recognise some of the people who asked questions. ;) Hey, do you think we'll finally get to see his ostrich impression? :D Maybe that should be one of the questions.

Hey Olympia! I know, this post wore me out! Turkey Twizzlers came under fire from Jamie Oliver as they were being served for school dinners - ugh. The strawberry ones look much nicer and prettier. BBMISwear provided me with valuable info on these red sticks!

That sounds like a great question - and we could get it re-enacted :) I think you should ask it!

Having major problems with my Mac over the last few days so only getting to catch up on yesterday's post now and what a post it is:)

How smokin' hot does Jake look in those pics. I was wondering what that red thing was. I've tried those strawberry Twizzlers before. Much nicer than those turkey ones. I remember Jamie slating those on that school dinners show.

Looking forward to seeing Jake answering those questions on Facebook. I've gotten a couple of friends to post questions too.

Mumford & Sons...good choice:)

Hey Carol! Sorry to hear about your Mac troubles :( I'd not heard of these twizzlers before. Seeing Jake eat sweets is adorable. I don't know why I think that!

I'm glad you got a question in - I had a go too.

I hope people in the NE US are doing ok. I've seen some pics of the snow. We had snow hail and sun all at the same time. Very odd! C'mon spring!

Very interesting mix of Gyllen-news, WDW. Lots of good stuff going on. :)

I admit to not knowing some of the bike lingo and was not sure what to make of blogger and if he was happy or not to get Jake's bike pie plate, lol. :p

Snowy here....hope everyone else is doing well.

Just catching up on the latest Jake news after having an out of State guest for a few days. I have to say that as gorgeous as Jake looks, the shout of joy that burst from me was at the sight of Chris. Like everyone has said, it is so good to see him again. Over the long, long spell of not being seen with Jake I have often wondered about him. It is so good to see Jake just hanging with the boys again. And we seem to all be in agreement that Chris is the number one friend that we miss in Jake's life. Thanks so much, WDW!

WOW! So much great new stuff going on, huh?! I've been trying to keep up with everything today while balancing everything else that needed to get done so this is GREAT to read at the end of a long day - thank you WDW!!! You always do such a great job keeping us up to date on all things Jake!

LOL at the Red Twizzlers...I'm so glad I could be a help in giving you some info on them. More questions for Jake - what fun! Can't wait to hear more about the video of him answering. And this music video he has a cameo in...a new side job for Jake it seems.

I read that bike article earlier and was so confused. Read it again now and still am (???). So many "Jake is/was at the Mumford & Sons show" sightings - tons of them! Sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe pictures will surface soon???

Thanks again for the very detailed update. Oh...yes...agreed: Jake is hot. :-)

P.S. Snow not so bad here - they miscalculated (thankfully).

Oh...and you'll all see the write up soon enough...regarding the Brothers DVD Bonus Features: Boooooooo! :-(

Hi WDW!
Loved your new posting,as ever!
Jake looks pretty cute with his red Twizzlers, for sure!
I have to admit they are weirdly addictive(kinda like Jake)! It takes about an hour to eat just a few of them and about a week and a half to get them unstuck from the teeth...all in all-it's a form of entertainment(again, kinda like Jake)!

Thanks WDW. I LOVE Twizzlers. I couldn't really get a close up look at what he was holding. They are one of those foods that are dangerous to have around cause I just want to eat the whole bag. My friend gave me a container of them for Xmas. I controlled myself and was able to have them around for a couple of weeks, munching on them while watching TV. They come in Strawberry, cherry, chocolate and licorice too (they came out with sour flavors as well)

a man after my own heart. He just has to be a chocoholic too, just HAS to be

Morning all!

Hi Get Real! I've been looking at some pictures of NYC in the snow. Seems a lot of it... is the spring coming, ever, is it???

Hey Dani! Good to see you back :D I know how you love Chris - it's great to see him :)

Thanks BBMISwear :-) OMG I love that cycling blog, love it. I quite often pop by. It's weird though, between us, Mr WDW and I have about 6 bikes and not a single pie plate! Thanks for the Twizzler info :D

Thanks JoJO :D They sound delightful.... I think. I know of liquorice sticks over here but you don't see them that often.

Hi Sweetpea :D I bet Jake loves his chocolate - as indeed does the world of Gyllenism :)

There are new pics on IHJ in the forum - Steph's asked me not to post them here so make your way over there :) Lovely :D

Have a good day!

Thanks for the heads up on the pics at IHJ, WDW. Awww, love seeing Jake and Peter together. The hug was squee worthy. And wow Peter really cut his hair. Probably for a role. :) And Jake looks great.

Very cute story from Maggie, on Kimmel, about Jake making bad pancakes, lol. But I do love that she said he is a brilliant cook and talked about Chris having worked at Babbo. A nice interview.

Have a good day everyone! :)
