Jake Gyllenhaal and the amazing Prince of Persia junket

Message from the Editor: If anyone has any pancake tips/recipes please post them in the comments or email them to me. Jake needs our help. We owe it to him.

Last Thursday, a number of messages by very happy journalists suggested that Jake Gyllenhaal was taking part in a very elaborate Prince of Persia junket. As one writer posted, this was no ordinary junket: 'Just interviewed Jake Gyllenhaal on the KABC 7 soundstage. It was nervewracking, but I did it and got a good interview... Jake was super cool... I was really nervous because this wasn't a typical junket like I'm used to doing and there was about 50 people watching the interview.' They even rebuilt the Persian palace. We're talking elephants.

But what's a palace without its prince?

Here's hoping it's not too long before we see the results of what looks like a very impressive bit of work by the Prince of Persia publicity machine! Thank you source!

One thing's for sure - the real Dastan is decidely more impressive than his 4" counterpart. The Toy Fair in NYC has been displaying some of Disney's action figures. Hopefully, Toy Dastan looks better when ostrich racing.

Peter Sarsgaard received his Vanguard Award at the Santa Babs Film Festival on 12 February. Maggie was with him for the big occasion. Vera Farmiga, Jake's co-star in Source Code, was also a recipient. On the red carpet, Peter was asked about his role as the baddie in The Green Hornet: 'He confirmed again that shooting will start in March, but when asked if the character will look similar to how he does in the comics, Sarsgaard pretended to zip his mouth shut and smiled, saying, "I don't know," adding that the movie is "going to be fantastic." We also asked him if he was looking forward to working again with Tim Robbins, who plays Senator Hammond, the disapproving father of Hector. "He gave me my first job - 'Dead Man Walking,'" Sarsgaard said. "I think he looks at me like I'm this young guy that was in this movie. I think you're always that to someone. I look at him like he was the guy that gave me my first job and I have immense respect for him. He does not feel like an equal to me. He feels like a God. He's a lot taller than I am."' There are spoilers on the end of this link, so be warned.

Jake meanwhile was seen yesterday by a number of lucky people at The Getty, a wonderful and dramatic place to visit, high above LA. Ramona may also have been with him according to a sighting of Jake there with a child. I hope he took her to see the Egyptian mummies. No childhood is complete without a look at Egyptian mummies...

LOL at the fire extinguisher. Someone was prepared for Jake's hotness!

That's funny, Pyro! I fear one fire extinguisher would never be enough in a Jake Situation...

Cool interview set, Disney sure are serious about promoting POP. This is gonna be a real change from some other Jake movies. Aren't there any closer pics of Jake at the junket? How are we supposed to analyse his hair, his level of scruff and what he's wearing? This is just cruel! :D

Awwwww at the idea of Jake taking Ramona to a museum. That would be too cute. :)

Hi there Olympia! Disney are so so serious - that makes me very happy :D Sorry you didn't like the pics - I was really chuffed to find any at all.

I bet Ramona would have a lovely time at the Getty with Jake. It's a great museum. I've been a couple of times and I love it. Its setting is spectacular.

Thanks for all images. It will be a great time with many interviews.
Peter is wonderful with this new look. Maggie is a lucky woman!

Have a great day!

Here ... another day of rain and Carnival!

Oh! It's not that I didn't like the pics, on the contrary. I'm glad you found them but I guess I'm greedy. Never enough Jake, never enough. :D

I love going to museums with children, they're so curious about everything. We have a museum here with a whole section for children and my godson and his sister love to go.

we already knew that 2010 was going to be a very busy one for the Prince. I didn't know they were already going to begin the junket. I guess they want to start things rolling before he has to be in Montreal to start shooting Source Code. Then right after that I am assuming he'll be really in gear (probably doing promos and stuff while shooting Source Code)

Can't wait to see the prince for myself. have you gotten to get any prince dolls, WDW?

I'm not from Calif and I've never heard of the Getty Museum, but I don't know how much Ramona could appreciate a place like that at 3 years old. But I'm sure Uncle Jake made it fun for her.

What a gorgeous stage - and Jake, *swoon*. He looks amazing, his expression. Can't wait to see more about this interview. Smiling re the fire extinguisher comment. :)

I love his stance in the second pic, slim hips and broad shouldered. Positively Michaelangelo-ean. Is that a word? I love the sweater and pants.

My word is eststocy. :)

Hi Monica! Peter looks so hot and look how happy Maggie is - good days for them all :D

There are lots of museums near me too, Olympia, and they're always full of families. I love seeing kids in them :D

Hi Sweetpea :) There'll be lots of publicity but this sounds like something big, if there were so many interviewers. I hope we get to see it! I'll definitely get a bunch of Jake figures when they''re available, they're not yet unfortunately.

I'm not Californian either but this is such an amazing museum. It's really special - and very quirky! I actually think that museums are great for youngsters. Some of my earliest memories are seeing the shrunken heads in my local museum, the very famous Pitt Rivers! And the portraits of kings and queens in the National Portrait Gallery in London. But seeing the Roman glass in the British Museum and the Natural History Museum dinosaurs when I was so small inspired me to become an archaeologist. I definitely think that you're never too young to be bewitched by a good museum. The Getty has lots of things for families too, and it's so pretty!

Hi there 21:55! It's an amazing set and seeing Jake at the centre of it :D

I do agree 22:03 :D I love how Jake's standing - so sexy. If I were one of the journalists, I'd forget every question :)

What a great find WDW - thanks!! Disney certainly doesn't hold back, huh? Look at that interview set! This just gets me more and more excited for all things PoP coming our way. Oh yes, we must see these interviews...and the facebook question answering...and anything else this guy has been up to lately (which sounds like a lot)!!

I think we are going to see a very tired Jake come May 28th! Looks like early PoP stuff now then 2 months of filming then I bet some type of PoP related press for him every single day of May! Then he can catch up on his sleep while millions of people go see the Prince of Persia in cinemas for the whole month of June! I'm so happy for him. :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning all!

Hey BBMISwear :-) Jake is going to be so busy and we're reaping all the benefits. These next few months are going to be incredible for him and us. I should think he'll like being on a filmset, focusing on work, in the middle of it too.

is it Friday yet? Have a good day!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

it's PANCAKE DAY!

Anonymous said...

:) Hi,
Whats a junket?
And why is there always reference to ostriches in your POP posts?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there Anon :) Junkets are press days to advertise a movie. Often they're at a hotel and there are non-stop interviews all day - this is a totaaly different beast - ver impressive.

Damn, you noticed my ostrich obsession (sorry, passion)... and I thought I kept it so well hidden. I also have a thing about ducks and penguins but I can't work them into Prince of Persia posts so well. I will persevere!

You know, I just realized that your Pancake Day is our Mardi Gras, the last day before Lent. I think I know what I'll have for dinner. :)

Olympia

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Ooh, Olympia! You have a Mardi Gras! I want one of those :D

I'm going to be giving you all my pancake tips later, so get your notepads and pens ready :D

And if anyone has some good pancake ideas - let me know! tout suite! I don't know why I lapsed into French. It must be because I'm dusting off my chef's hat...

Pancake tips? I hope Jake will be reading this! :DDD

My future brother-in-law makes killer pancakes, we always ask him to make them when we have a family brunch or on Christmas morning. I'll have to ask my sister for the recipe.

As for Mardi Gras, it's not really celebrated here anymore, unfortunately. You'd have to go to New Orleans for that, it's a really big event there.

Olympia

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Yeah, Jake needs our help! ramona will be grateful. Be very interested to hear your Canadian receipe, Olympia. It always amazes me how a little slab of batter can taste so different around the world :D

Obviously, it's done best here.... :DDD

Is the Mardi Gras on in New Orleans today? Monica mentioned they're having carnivals in Brazil. I like the Notting Hill carnival in August but there are a million people there, it's ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

I love to try new pancake recipes so we'll see if yours is really better. :D I just emailed my sister for her fiancé's recipe.

Yes, Mardi Gras is celebrated today in New Orleans. They have 12 parades scheduled for today! Wow! That must get crazy.

Banana Pecan (or Walnut) Pancakes

To.Die.For. End of story. Happy Pancake Day! I'm sure the bad pancakes were just a fluke for Jake. :)

2 Eggs
2 cups flour
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups mashed ripe bananas
1/4 cup granulated or packed brown sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chopped toasted pecans
3 medium bananas, sliced
3 cups strawberry halves
Maple syrup
Sweetened whipped cream
ground nutmeg, if desired

Beat eggs in medium bowl with hand beater until fluffy. Beat in flour, buttermilk, mashed bananas, sugar, oil, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until just smooth. Stir in pecans. For thinner pancakes, stir in an additional 1 to 2 Tbsp. milk.

For each pancake, pour slightly less than 1/4 cup batter onto a griddle heated to 375 degrees, greased if desired. Cook until puffed and dry around the edges; turn and cook other side until golden brown.

Serve with sliced fruit and drizzle with syrup. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with nutmeg if you can stand it. Enjoy! :)

Oops, forgot to add - recipe makes 27 pancakes, so you may want to halve the recipe. :)

OMG Anon 14:44, those sound amazing! I think I'll try those this week-end. Thanks for the recipe! :) God I really want pancakes now...

Oh no, Olympia! Now I'm desperate to have a Margarita Pancake!!! Can one have such a thing - can one have a tequila batter?

Ooh, Pancake Pecan Poster! That sounds sensational! I love bananas in pancakes, but that takes it to a whole new level. Very different to English pancakes - I just do a cup of flour, an egg, a cup of milk and then sprinkle sugar and lemon juice on them and sometimes chocolate too. How unexciting is that?

I may never get used to the idea of maple syrup though... Mr WDW adores the stuff - I can't keep him away from it when we're in the US.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

27 pancakes!!!!!!!!

Don't you have any concerns at all for my svelte like figure?

Me too, Olympia. Good job I'm going to the gym straight after work. I can work em off in advance...

LMAO at all the pancake talk! I'm sorry, WDW, but you know what I'm like in the kitchen...no pancake recipes from me. I'm pretty good with a can opener though. :-) And cleaning...especially the kitchen! It looks like you have a lot of people helping out though so can survive without my in put.

Ah, memories of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. I was there for it one time many years ago...I say 'memories' but if one does Mardi Gras the correct way one does not usually remember much about it (and this was the case for me I'm happy to report) - LOL!

No, it's not Friday yet WDW. Not even close. It's snowing here - UGH! I want more Jake/PoP Press tid bits...hell, I want the real stuff...hurry up Disney!!

:-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

They're delicious, Anon :D

Hey BBMISwear :-) Nothing up with your cooking, and you get a glass of wine while you wait for it to be delivered as well!

Yep, if you can remember a Mardi Gras that's a bad thing. So maybe I have been to one...

It's trying to snow here again too...

I've found a gluten free pancake mix!!!(A necessity if I want to keep eating pancackes.) I use about a cup,or a little more, a "rounded" cup, and about 1/3-1/2 cup of regular pancake flour.(Bisquick.)I add 1/3 cup or a teensy bit more, of milled flax seed. Then some sunflower oil about 1/4 cup, some vanilla,(teaspoon)some coarsely chopped pecans, two egg whites and some 2% milk. Mix well. I like mine cakey, not too thin. While they're on the griddle I usually add some fresh blueberries. I sprinkle more pecans oover them with some genuine maple syrup, and a bit of butter, of course. They are delicious and guilt free. Sort of.

I love samba!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hello everyone! Just got back home from my spinning class - I've cleared room for more calories! Thanks for the pancake recipes by comment and email and thanks to you I'm now bloody starving. But inspired!

Thanks Gluten-Free Chef for the healthy panakes - those sound really good. I love the idea of fruit in the pancake. We don't tend to do breakfast pancakes here and I feel we're missing a treat.

Monica! That is what I call a Festival!!! Wow! I would love to learn how to samba. I fear Mr WDW still growls at me when he remembers our one and only waltz. But a samba! I could do that with Jake instead. He'd be great at it.

Off to cook up a post! Please talk amongst yourselves and share a bottle of wine while I gather ingredients...
