[Update] Jake Gyllenhaal's Peter Movie moment of the decade, Jake arrives in Canada not to compete in the Winter Olympics, etc!

[Update] Stars describe their favourite film moment of the decade and there amongst them is a very hot (and sexily black and white) Jake Gyllenhaal describing his favourite as Peter Sarsgaard in An Education: 'Any performance by Peter Sarsgaard. God, I'm such a kiss ass! I would pick An Education. I don't know what he does for a living; he seems to be into cellos; likes really young women! That seems to be my best description...' Perfect!

On with the post!

Jake Gyllenhaal is in Canada! Contrary to popular opinion, he is not in Vancouver to compete in the Super G, he is in fact in Montreal to do whatever it is actors do to prep a movie. Source Code director Duncan Jones is already in the city, where he is, according to his tweets, pinching food off the desks off fellow crew members. Good man! As for Jake, he might have a handy pouch, but he wants that coat - he really wants that coat. And that's despite Olympia's assurances that temperatures are set to soar in Montreal to 30 degrees F. Many thanks to IHJ for the pics and the heads up!

Duncan has also just tweeted that principal photography starts in two weeks and a moment ago said: 'Just met with the lovely Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright. Feeling quite thrilled to have two such scorchingly good actors in Source Code!' (The excellent Jeffrey Wright was, of course, Felix in Casino Royale.) Meanwhile, would it be untoward if I wondered what Jake was keeping in his pouch?

Duncan is a nominee at this Sunday's BAFTAs for his superb debut movie, Moon. He is intending to be in Covent Garden for the awards. One wonders if he might be accompanied on the flight over by a possible BAFTA presenter?

I have to say that it was extremely obliging of Jake to go to Canada because this visit coincides perfectly with my Winter Olympics report! I have received, just today, photographs from the piste of one of the Games' more serious contenders, who is competing in not just the Downhill but also the Ice Hockey. He doesn't even need a team, that's how good he is.

So while Jake and Elmo settle down to enjoy their cheese fondue, here is a little bit of Jake news...

Firstly, the 'Epic Adventure Issue' of Total Film hit the UK shelves today - or at least the mini cute 'airport edition' did. The good news is that the article inside is just the same as in the Collectors' edition and the only difference is that the cover has 'Prince of Persia [in non-scannable gold] - Inside 2010's biggest blockbuster!'. It looks fabulous.

With thanks to Shoe for the heads up, it looks like Jake is involved in Natalie Portman's 'Hungry in America' project. Whether he will attend the NYC or LA gala isn't known but you can see details here.

We saw pictures of Jake and a friend yesterday in photos dating to the 15th. Maybe this was the event that they were going to/returning from: Jeff Bridges bringing Crazy Heart to life at the LA Club. Maggie was also there. One must admire Jeff for putting his heart and soul into Crazy Heart - incredible.

And finally...

...and slightly off topic (because there's little PoP in this post)... I was running errands today and stumbled across these critters.

Many thanks to IHJ and Olympic correspondent BBMISwear for the pics. Others by WDW. No ostrich was hurt during the production of this post - it had already snuffed it.

Yay! Jake's in Montréal! Welcome back Jake and please put on your coat. I said the weather was mild but everything's relative.

I bet you anything that what's in his pouch is his phone. He doesn't have it in his hands and we all know he can't bare to be separated from it.

Wow! Elmo is one great athlete! :D

What the... you ran upon an ostrich while doing errands?! Where do you shop, looks like an interesting store! ;DDD

Yeay Olympia! Good to see you first in my Olympian Canada post!

Where is Jake's coat? Does he not realise he's in The Great North? Maybe he's not wearing a coat because he wants me to admire his pouch. Like some gorgous, cuddly, sexy possum. Yep, I bet the phone's in there. Maybe some snacks.

Elmo's so talented and if it weren't for BBMISwear I would never have known. She has an Elmo hotline. I'm honoured to listen in now and again.

I have to admit that I have the kind of job where I can run across ostriches, professional football players and dinosaurs on a regular basis. I'm very lucky :) These pictures were taken at Oxford's unique Pitt Rivers Museum - so famous for its shrunken heads! - and Oxford's Natural History Museum where you can just about touch everything. The problem is that it's the school holidays this week so the delightful children got in the way and so I couldn't stroke the stuffed horses and storks.

Keep us up to date on the Montreal onditions, Olympia! You're in charge of looking after our Guy!

^^^ when I say 'onditions' that's not exactly what I mean...

Wow Jake looks good! :) I hope he keeps this look for Source Code. I agree with Olympia that has to be his phone in the pouch!

Have presenters been announced for the Baftas? It's only three days away! I wonder who will be hosting..

Sorry, me again (I'll shut up then) - many thanks for the pancake recipes that arrived today. Do keep them coming!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Silver! Posting at the same time (and therefore ruining my intention of shutting up). The BAFTA presenters are announced on Friday - it's always last minute. With PoP on the way, you never can tell...

LOL! I bet Jake would be thrilled to know you compared him to a possum! "Come here you sexy possum...". :DDD

Oh Canada! You are so very lucky - as well as maple syrup, you have Jake and Elmo and those cute little red hats shaped like a maple leaf that I've seen on the Olympic coverage. Where can I get me one those?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Olympia, it is a well known fact that Jake likes being called a possum. That's why he now wears a ring with my initials engraved on it.

Ooh Rubes, never mind the hats, what about those big furry gloves with the maple leaf on the palms? I really want a pair of those. I feel that I have to have them. I love Canada red. Note how I'm not mentioning maple syrup. Tonight, I consider myself an honorary Canadian. I must find some sport to watch that doesn't involve figure skating.

Hannibal Lecter Elmo looks hungry :/ Should we be worried?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I never realised he had such a scarey mouth, but really, he does. This is Elmo, not Jake :D

Elmo looks like he's ready for some Olympic medals! Maybe Jake is in Montreal to cheer him on :)

Jake always looks dashing at airports! Is it because of the first class seat or because no one ever gives him a hard time?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

H Winterbird! Jake processes through an airport - it's effortless :D

I have great expectations about Source Code. thanks for the information.

Sent you a link to a video of Jake and other actors.

LOL! Thanks Monica and Silver. He IS such a kissass! :DDD

Jake in Canada and Elmo too:) He is looking good at the moment. If this is the Source Code look I'm liking it already:)

I never realised that Jeffrey Wright was in Source Code. Loved his performance in the epic Angels in America.

Fingers crossed regarding the Bafta presenters for Sunday night. You never know...

Wet Dark and Wild said...

My internet connection this evening gets nil pointes from all of the judges! Ugh...

Hi Olympia!

Hey Carol :D I'm loving the Source Code look too! Just gorgeous. I love all these amazing looks for Jake's movies lately. I think Jeffrey Wright is very new for Source Code but how good a choice is that! Excellent :D

Ooh, wouldn't that be something? :D

Winterbird is right! Jake looks so good in airport photos!... and, may I say, he always looks younger in his 'travelling' outfits...

Great post, WDW!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Freetraveller! He looks so lovely! Thanks :D

BBMISwear said...

Wow...I actually had my nose to the grindstone for a few hours and came back to quite the update! Thank you for all this WDW!

The NY Times vid was very entertaining - Jake was funny per usual! I love that Jake is in Montreal for some pre-Source Code stuff. Boston and Montreal weather is very similar and I will say anyone that can't handle today's weather in either place is a wimp with a capital W. We are calling this February Thaw at the moment...it's usually closer to Zero degrees this time of year.

Sounds like Jake has some social decisions to make...hmmmm...go to the Baftas on Sunday or go to the charity event in New York. Or maybe the charity event in LA the following Sunday if that fits the schedule better. Decisions, Decisions. (Whatever he decides to do I want pictures and videos)!!

I'm so glad Total Film is the same as the 'collector's edition' - I was nervous about that. The Jeff Bridges party looked so cool! I think you're on to something WDW - Disney could give out rings and they could be honor of both Disney and WDW! I like that!

LMAO at Elmo pictures, "Olympic Correspondent BBMISwear" (ya right) and "No ostrich was hurt during the production of this post - it had already snuffed it" - too funny WDW!!!

And now down to some important business leftover from the last set of comments: Of course Olympia agrees with me re: PADDLEgate because I'm right! :-) And I couldn't help but notice that Ruby is just like Jake - she's a kiss ass too!! (xoxo to Ruby)! :-)

If the comments here were less entertaining my comments in response would be shorter...I Swear!

Have a good night all. Cameras at the ready Montrealians (is that a correct term)?! Olympia?!

:-)

Hello there Olympic correspondent BBMISwear :-) Glad to catch you before I sign off for the night - it's all been too much! I'm worn out! Good days :D

Ahh, Jake is looking so sexy! He tends to look really good when traveling, imo. :p

OMG, love that video of all the actors talking about their favorite roles and I agree with most of them. Jake of course was wonderful, sexy and funny doing his bit....sigh.

WOW, Jake, Jon Hamm (GUH!!), Elton John, Jeff Bridges all together....SWOON!!!! How awesome must that concert have been!

Awww, how freaking cute is Olympic!Elmo. :D

I am very, very excited for Jake work with Jeffrey Wright, a brilliant actor, and Vera Farmiga, both are so wonderful.

The one concern I have is if Jake is going to be at the Oscars. :/ With filming starting soon I am trying not to get my hopes up in case he doesn't show up. I really, really hope does go but we will have to wait and see. The glimmer I have is that Vera is nominated and since she will be going that they give Jake the time to go for Maggie. *Fingers crossed*

Anonymous said...

BBMISwear, the correct term would be Montrealers. Montrealians sounds to me like some kind of alien. :)

Go paddles! :D

Olympia

BBMISwear said...

*waves to get real with the LJ lingo I love* Olympic!Elmo!!

LOL at WDW who is too tired to even talk about PADDLEgate anymore and Olympia who pointed out that I made people from Montreal sound like aliens! Oh yes...Montrealers sounds much better!

I'm just plain hiding from Ruby who I may have called a kiss ass (like Jake)!

Team Paddle!! :-)

Tas said...

I have an extra special news flash. I can reveal, exclusively to WDW, what Jake was carrying in his handy dandy pouch. It is an..

...Ostrich Egg. Ready to hatch in time for Jake to hand it over to WDW at the Baftas.

Anonymous said...

An Ostrich Egg!
Of course!

Just think of those Ginormous pancakes!

Thanks WDW for this report. I wonder if they do any rehearsing at this point? I'm not sure what the pre-production process is like for the actors. Maybe they do a read through or discuss the initial filming.

poor Elmo, he looks cold out there.

Morning everyone!

How tired was I last night? Blimey :D

Hi Get Real! Lovely comment :D That concert would have been something else... I know what you mean about the Oscars and I have kind of been expecting him to go this year. That's a very good point about Vera. She'll clearly be going! So hopefully some time off will be given.

It does indeed, Olympia! I went to a gig in mancherster years ago and the band called the audience Manchesterians (and not Mancunians). There was almost a riot.

I was worn out BBMISwear! I still am a bit - coulldn't even stick up for the bat. And yeah, you're gonna be in trouble!

Ahhhh, Tas, what a lovely thought. And then it will hatch and mine and Jake's ostrich child will grow and become a great actor in his own right.

Hey JoJo - I'm afraid we will not be cooking mine and Jake's ostrich :D

Thanks Sweetpea - he does look chilly :D I imagine that there's lots to this close to principal photography - wardrobe, hair, script read throughs, rehearsals, casting, you name it. Sounds like fun.

Or it coulld have been a flying visit/meeting on the way through to somewhere else, because there is more than one facebook sighting of Jake in Dublin yesterday! Really? Carol! We need you!

Have a good day everyone and all of you keep your eyes open, whichever side of the pond you're on!

Hello WDW!Hello everyone! I have to catch up with so many things!

Would anyone, please, update me on Jake?:D

When are Brothers out in Europe?

Carol said...

I'm at a boring training course this morning so just came by for quick visit.

Jake in Dublin:) Unfortunately I'm at the other end of the country but I have my spies there. I will get them working on it straight away. This might mean a certain appearance in London on Sunday night:)

Jake in Dublin?! Thats only 3 hours away from me :D Although i would have to cross a large sea..

are there a few new ones in there?
There's a couple i havnt seen.

I if Saarsards performance was Jakes honest answer, i suppose it's hard to pick just one. I think mine would go to Heath in TDK of BBM..but i might just be being biased too.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been AWOL - horrendously busy - but in an hour I will be free! Good to see you all!

Great to see you Zodiac! Oh, where to start....? I think Brothers is spreading around Europe at the mo, it's finished here now. Hope things are good with you, my friend *)

Hi Carol! I've been on a course too - ugh...

Hey 12:03 :DWhat's a sea with Jake on the other side?!

Thanks for the great link, 12:09! As for the best movie moment, it's a tricky one. I think for me it may be Donnie Darko.

Hi 12:31 :D

Hey TD! The ostrich looks great (albeit dead) and Jake's not bad either, chuckle.

I envy you your sense of certainty, 15:53.

Have a good afternoon everyone! Lots of stuff coming later!
