Jake Gyllenhaal: 'He's exceptional - as good a cook as he is an actor'. Hot prince too...

The Prince of Persia has (almost) robbed me of the power of speech... Moody, grubby and deep, just how I like him. The more I see of Jake Gyllenhaal as Dastan, the more I look forward to seeing not only the movie - and I'm looking forward to seeing that rather a lot - but also the publicity images that we will see more of over the next few months, as Disney introduces us to their prince. Many thanks to IHJ for this stunning image.

Go to the official PoP website for more delights.

Maggie Gyllenhaal has been talking to the press this weekend as the Oscar publicity machine goes into full gallop. Maggie reminisced to the Guardian about her earliest memory: 'I was tiny, less than three, looking up at my mom, who was pregnant. We were saying, "When is this baby going to come?" about my brother, Jake.' Good to know it was about Jake, even as a bump he was worth talking about.

There is more in the Telegraph: '“My brother and I used to be competitive when we were younger,” muses the 32-year-old. “But now I feel we’re different enough, old enough and love each other enough that competition feels like a waste of time.” So it’s all happy families these days, except when it comes to cooking... “He’s exceptional – as good a cook as he is an actor,” she admits. “He was just here for the holidays and he cooked a lot. I have basic skills – I know how to steam vegetables and make pasta and salads – but I’m not so good at the harder stuff. I’d like to learn how to easily cook up something really great.”

'I suggest that the test of a person’s skill in the kitchen is whether they can whip up “something great” without following a recipe. “Actually, it’s very telling about me,” she admits, warming to her subject. “For me, the challenge is following the recipe, because it’s so difficult for me to be a beginner at something. I don’t like things when I’m not good at them. But I’m learning how nice it is to be a beginner. It used to be that if I wasn’t good at something, I wouldn’t even want to try it, but now I’m learning how nice it is to try.”'

Arguably, it's even better to let Jake cook for you... especially cakes...

And finally...

Thanks to Uli, for coming across the IMDb link to the 'Unnamed Jame Foxx Documentary' which, it says, is currently filming and will include Jake Gyllenhaal, along with Jake's Blame It co-stars. Something to keep an eye on...

As to Jake today, quite a few tweets and Facebook sightings have Jake in Austin, Texas. In Whole Foods (no surprise there), at parties and in parks.

Includes pictures from IHJ.

I'm happy when I read that they no longer have that feeling of competition.

I love the wallpaper. Today, wallpaper, tomorrow a teaser trailer. I hope for an awesome teaser trailer!

So, he is not a good cook? hmm ... I hope he is good at other things!

Hi Monica! It is good to read :D I'm looking forward to seeing what the Superbowl trailer will be like too. He's not a good cook, he's an exceptional cook :D And yeah good at other things too!

Great brother and sister stuff here and I love the Screen Double scan. I haven't seen that one before - great photo! Oh yes, I've been looking at that Dastan wallpaper quite a lot today (one of the first things I saw when I turned on my computer this morning). *THUD* (again)

So many exciting things to look forward to already - and now a Jamie Foxx documentary with Jake in it?! Cool!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - even it people don't like biopics or sports related movies the 'character' Jake will get to play if/when he plays Joe Namath is what will make this movie project so great! This guy was such a colorful character (nice or not so nice) and I have a feeling Jake will have so much fun with it and we will get to see the wonderful end result of that whether we like football or biopics or whatever. Kinda like not liking scary movies but loving Zodiac, or torture movies and loving Rendition, or musicals but getting excited for Damn Yankees. You know, like that! He has talked about being "still" when playing Tommy and "quiet" when playing Douglas - well there is nothing still or quiet about Joe! We will get to see Jake speak, run, flirt, get drunk and simply do A LOT if this movie comes to fruition!

Okay, so I think it's pretty obvious I'm excited about the Joe Namath biopic so I'll shut up now!!

Stunning! Love the colors. I can hardly wait for May! The official site is gorgeous too - love the music, making me swoon. I don't know if it is going to be part of "the" soundtrack or just for the site? The main music and then the other song with the big closeup of Dastan - *swoon*. :)

Hey BBMISwear :-) It's just because of your description of Joe Namath and your enthusiasm for the project, that makes people like me want to see it :D So keep it coming! I know from you and others that there's more to this project than American football. And I will say as I always do that I hope there is enough to get non-US audiences into the theatres. Including those who aren't Gyllenhaalics. It'll need a big push here. So keep it coming!

Hi Anon! Absolutely stunning :D And I'm grateful to you as you reminded me to add the link, which I'd forgotten. It's been a long day...

I think a Joe Namath pic will have something for everyone - he was gorgeous and so sexy, and Jake looks a lot like him. It'll be fun to see how he'll look as Joe.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon! Thanks for that :)

I've updated the post a little - there have been so many Tweets and Facebook sightings that I think it's reliable to say that Jake's in Texas this weekend, in Austin. And in Whole Foods too!

Lets all watch that trailer again and just look at Jake's eyes...
Oh my goodness
Between that and his little stuttering thing,I'm having hot flashes,or something!

What a nice way to start a lazy Sunday morning:) Love the wallpaper and the official site. Have to get that on my computer ASAP:) Really looking forward to seeing the Superbowl trailer.

I'm loving all the clips and that popping up about Maggie since the nominations were announced. It's nice to hear her talk about Jake. Really loved that story about the "bump". I haven't seen that "Screen Double" scan before. Really like it.

Went to the cinema yesterday with the intention of seeing Invictus but somehow I found myself buying a ticket to see Brothers again instead. Have to say I found even more things about Tommy to make me smile this viewing:)

It's great there is so much to look forward to with the Jamie Foxx documentary and Damn Yankees back on the radar.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday. I'm going back to contemplate that gorgeous screensaver some more:)

I'm just kicking myself because I just caught the last 5 mins of a Behind the Scenes featurette of Brothers. Jake looked fantastic with his long hair swept back. I don't know when it will be on again but I will be on the look out.

Morning everyone! Feeling and sleepy and lazy. The good news is that my favourite cinema here is showing An Education today so I'm off down there later.

Hi JoJo! OMG that trailer. Absolutely mesmerising. When Dastan dives off the tower at the beginning, 'such a treasure' indeed. I love the whole look. I've certainly fallen for Dastan :)

Morning Carol! It was lovely turning on my laptop just now and seeing that again. I don't know which pic of Dastan is my favourite, I just love them all.

I've done that before when Jake films are on at the pics. I find it quite difficult to see anything else. I had real trouble when my favourite Zodiac was on. PoP will be like that and hopefully it'll be on at my local big cinema a lot longer than the two dismal weeks it gave Brothers.

There's a lot to look forward to in 2010 :D

Hi Sheba! Ooh I hope you catch it again. What channel was that on? Sky?

Have a lovely Sunday everyone :)

I love the new poster. Jake is looking rather dirty.
Apparently, I seem to like that. :)

Nice PoP stuff! Love the colors and Jake is sure looking like the prince. And I see more and more toys. Gonna be a good collection for sure. I will be on the lookout for the commercial on the Super Bowl later.

I adore the Maggie quotes about Jake. :)

He's back in Austin. Lots of tweets to keep us up to date on his comings and goings. :p

Sorry my toy comment was based on an earlier post with the PoP toys.

Sheba said...

Hi there, yes it was on E! (channel 151 on sky). It was a half hour featurette with interviews from all the principles and Jim. I remember when we saw the same Behind the Scenes of Rendition and they included it in the DVD, perhaps the same will happen when Brothers hits DVD.

get real said...

Thanks for the info on the Brothers special, Sheba. I hope we get to see that on the DVD or sooner if they re-air that special.

Monica said...

Changed the release date of Brothers in Brazil. It will be on the 05th of March.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there everyone!

You're not alone, Rubes - I seem to like it too :) Dirty... and hot...

Hi Get Real! Jake seems to be emptying Austin's Whole Foods :D

Thanks for the info, Sheba! I don't get this channel (or any on sky...). Let's hope it's on the DVD. It sounds like the sort of thing that would be.

Is that earlier, Monica? I'm glad you'll be seeing it soon.

Have a good day everyone. I ended up being taken out for tea instead of seeing the film. It was lovely :)

Monica said...

Is that earlier, Monica?

Would be on Friday, February 12.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

That's bad news, Monica! I'm sorry for the delay :(

I love that mag photo of Maggie and Jake together. It is nice that they are not only siblings but best friends. I think acting can be a brutal business and it's good to have support

I'm going to go check out the POP website for more drool material

Love your new banner, WDW! :)

Loving all the latest Prince of Persia news too, the updated site is wonderful - the music is transporting me already! I really like the scene where he tells Tamina not to push her luck, but I think she will. ;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Enjoy the PoP site, Sweetpea, it's sensational :D Jake and Maggie are very lucky to have each other, in such a business. And Peter too :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Ooh thanks Anon (posting at the same time)!! Do you like it? I was playing around - I'm not very savvy when it comes to this sort of thing, but I fancied a little bit of a new look :D And I can change it around for different films :)

Love the music on the PoP site...

BBMISwear said...

Oh yes...nice banner WDW! There's that *THUD* Dastan picture I like so much! :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Thanks BBMISwear :-) I'm just captivated by that image.

Thinking of everyone over the pond getting ready for the Big Game. I see that Lance Armstrong is having a superbowl bash in Austin. I wonder if Jake will be there :D

Anonymous said...

That is a very hot picture. My favourite is the one on the official poster though and 2nd favourite the poster with COURAGE written on it, dirty/moody Jake will have to slot in at 3rd place.

I was considering recording the superbowl, but i dont think BBC will broadcast the same adverts as the US :( so didn't bother.

Jake has been tweeted in 'Homeslice' whatever that is :P

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Silver! Very hot indeed. The superbowl here is on the BBC so not an advert in sight - typical. So off to bed. I love the Courage poster too :)

so many tweets of Jake in Austin. Another has him buying pizza today. Wonder if it's for the game.

Night!

The PoP commercial just aired - it was gorgeous! Can't say for sure without rewinding and watching again (which I will!) if it is something we've already seen as is or if the same clips we've seen just edited differently. Either way there were no new clips but it looked INCREDIBLE on a big screen TV! If it's this good on my TV I can't imagine how great it is going to look on the movie screen. GUH!

Happy Football Season Almost Over Day!

:-)

BBMISwear said...

Yay...already on line! Much, much better on a big screen though!

saw the commercial for POP during the superbowl. It wasn't really that different than what we've already seen. But I enjoyed seeing the Prince on TV. Can't wait to see him on the BIG Screen

I missed the clip on TV, but I just watched it online. Wow, I love how he yells for the dagger. There's a few differences from what I have seen. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning! Thanks to BBMISwear for the updates! And yeay to the end of the American football season :D Hope it was a good night.

Hi Sweetpea :)

Hey there Anon :D It was great to see, a few little differences. Lovely.

I felt sad in a way that when the interviewer asked Maggie whom she would invite to her dinner party, Jake's name was not on the list. But maybe it was assumed that Jake would help plan or prepare the meal, so he would definitely be there.

I hope that the Oscar nomination will lead to offers for better roles for Maggie. She has so mcuh talent, and is blooming right now.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Paul! I think that Jake would be there and wouldn't need the invitation :) An Oscar nomination could open a lot of doors for Maggie. This and TDK has really shown her off. I foresee great things :)
