[Updated] Prince of Persia Superbowl TV Spot! Brothers DVD artwork
The problem with watching the Superbowl in Britain - apart from some serious sleep deprivation - is that it runs here without commercials. This means you have to make do with analysis, bits of The Who (to make me feel young) and sport. But no such worries for the US - there, 80 million people (give or take) can settle down and enjoy the real point of it all: the Prince of Persia TV Spot! I'm trying to imagine Jake Gyllenhaal's own reaction to watching this. As for the sport: England beat Wales 30-17 in the Six Nations.

Yep...the PoP commercial on TV is great to watch! And the Brothers DVD photo is a nice surprise - gorgeous picture. I say surprise because there seemed to be more hype about Tobey and Natalie with the press yet it's Jake's face that is right there in the forefront (where it belongs IMHO)! Hee Hee. I'm so greedy sometimes.

Hi there BBLISwear :-) Oh it was so good seeing the PoP trailer at the cinema when I was in Florida. So exciting. I've not had a chance to look at this new TV spot properly yet but I bet it was great on the TV.
And yes! A really good cover for the DVD. Still no word on the extras...
I really like the artwork for Brothers. I thought it was just going to be a repeat of the movie poster which would have been a reflection of how much effort was put into promoting the movie in cinemas. At least they seem to be making some more effort for the DVD release.
I agree with BBMISwear that the focus was totally on Natalie and Tobey for the promotion but they seem to have given Jake prominence on the DVD cover. Not that I'm complaining:)

Hey! Chuckling at Get Real :D I take it the Saints won then! I'm glad you were able to see the the trailer. I bet that was a fun night. It all made our football matches seem very lowkey... I bet Jake was watching it too :D I watched it until after the Who, but it was on the BBC, so no ads at all. The one time you want them.

Btw, I saw some of the England vs. Wales in the Six Nations game on BBCAmerica. I don't know much about rugby but it was really interesting. :) Yay, England!
Ooh that's great you saw some of the match, Get Real :D It's such an exciting game - I prefer it to soccer, although I find the rules a bit tricky to follow. It's nice to know they showed it in the US :)

Although it's a bit worrying how much negativity there is about this film! I do hope Jake pulls it off and shuts all the people, claiming he can't be an action hero, up! After all, if you think about his past roles he has so much versatility, he just needs to tick action hero off :)

Hi Silver! I saw that too :D And trending misspelt - typical. I am tired of people saying Jake's not suitable because he's not Persian. This not only ignores the history of Persia, it also, more importantly, ignores the fact this is based on a videogame prince! But yes, Jake will prove them wrong :D
I was frightened by these negative comments, but then remembered many people did the same with Pirates of the Caribbean.

Hi Monica :) I've been concerned because some people sound like they're disappointed because Jake isn't Persian. But that's entirely missing the point. It's not history! It's a video game. And Jake is so close to the gaming Prince, it's wonderul to see.
I've not been impressed by too many Hollywood British accents, including Peter's I'm afraid to say,and if I didn't like Jake's I'd say so (although kindly!). Jake's accent is clever. It doesn't go for the conventional, it goes for something else and it sounds realistic. Ironically, I find Gemma's less believable! So far I've only heard one word from Jake that didn't sound right to me - when he said 'thorough' in the trailer. And that's it! I can't wait to hear more!

I don't understand why all these people are focussing in on the 'Persian" argument. The movie is based on a video game not on historical events. From my limited knowledge of the game, Jake does look very like the game Prince.
I've got friends who are gamers and they have been pretty impressed by what they have seen of the movie so far. I think that Jake will prove them all wrong:)

As if Russell Crowe were "the Spaniard" in Gladiator, or Gerard Butler, was Spartan,or Greek right? LOLOL!
Hey. What about Natalie Portman as Ann Boleyn, and Scarlett Johansson as her sister, The Other Boleyn Girl? Eric Bana as Henry the VIII, Cate Blanchett as Elizabeth, etc. etc. etc.

I honestly believe that the movie would have done much better at the box office if they had played up the Jake/Natalie aspect and gone a bit lighter on the "crazy Tobey" thing... just my Jake slanted opinion!

Morning JoJo! I so agree - some of the advertising has been rather depressing. On Film 2010 here it just focused on the fighting clips and there was no mention at all of the lighter side.
Jake and Natalie had such good chemistry here - I'd like to see them in a movie together again, but without a brother this time :D

I agree with all here re: Jake as Prince and the complainers. All in good time this movie will be out and the non-believers will see for themselves. And if some still don't agree they can take a hike. Those of us that will go see it over and over again will make up for them not buying movie tickets - LOL!
