Duncan Jones on working with Jake Gyllenhaal: 'Jake is fantastic... and a snappy dresser' (plus cars and cheese...)

Another day with quite a bit to get through, so I suggest you make yourself comfortable - I'm beginning to think that, as things continue to get busier in Gyllendom, it would be a good idea if we could get caterers in for the posts. So, if someone could volunteer to provide the cupcakes, or the dips, or the veggie bacon sarnies, that would be much appreciated. We'll also need doilies. So, where to begin...

Duncan Jones, our much respected and cool Source Code director, has been tweeting again about the film as its third week of principle photography begins. This follows his weekend roadtrip to an extremely wet Boston. Back in Montreal, Duncan tells us that he will begin editing in LA at the end of April/start of May and, when asked what it's like to work with Jake Gyllenhaal: 'Jake is fantastic. Really get on well with him. Very good sense of humour and a snappy dresser.'

While hoping that this does not mean that Jake will be wearing too many clothes in Source Code (snappy or not), this is good to hear. It also sounds like Jake is doing his usual of entertaining the crew. It's great to hear that Jake and Duncan have hit it off - I'm looking forward to hearing Jake talk about the experience of working with such an exciting, young director. But back to the snappy dresser thing...

Jake's style at the Oscars was a hit with the critics - his beautifully cut Burberry suit, complete with square white handkerchief, reminded stylists of the glamour of old Hollywood. George Clooney's hair was a little longer than normal - which slightly shook the foundations of the Kodak Theatre - but all was made well again by Jake and his suit. USA Today reports: Jake 'kept it simple in Burberry. "It's important to feel comfortable. I like to wear comfortable clothes," he says. "I keep thinking to myself, how much I love her as my sister. I'm so proud of her work," he told CNN about his sister and supporting-actress nominee Maggie. The actor, says [someone called] Cohn, looked "classic. I like shawl collars. It's a basic tux with a white pocket square. It's old-time Hollywood."'

Back to Source Code... much of this film is being shot on a closed set but every so often it peeps out. On 7,8,9 April, Source Code will be filming in Chicago and they need extras and doubles. So, if you look like Jake Gyllenhaal or Michelle Monaghan, or, if that fails, you look like a railway commuter, take a look here. They need you!

Prince of Persia opens in the US on Memorial Weekend (28 May). On 30 May the 15th Indy 500 takes place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Rumours have suggested that Jake Gyllenhaal may be involved (bringing together two of my favourite things - Jake and cars). Whether this is the result of the rumour or its source isn't clear but it now looks like the organisers may be trying to get Jake involved. 'There has been some contact between Gyllenhaal's camp and the IMS, but nothing has been finalized, said Eric Powell, IMS public relations manager.'

'"We certainly welcome celebrities out for our event. How Mr. Gyllenhaal would fit in remains to be seen," he said. But there's one more big role left to consider: grand marshal of the IPL 500 Festival Parade. No word about who will fill that role has been announced, either, but folks at the 500 Festival seem eager to talk to Gyllenhaal's people. "We have a long list of celebrities we would like to be a part of our . . . parade. Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely one of those celebrities," said Brandi Davis-Handi, spokeswoman for the 500 Festival. "While we have not been in contact with him directly, we would love to open the dialogue if he is indeed interested in coming to Indianapolis in May."'

However, if Jake would prefer something more foody as a way to publicise Prince of Persia, I have an alternative suggestion for Jake and Jerry for that weekend - Gloucestershire's annual Rolling Cheese event. This celebration, which, for hundreds of years, has seen people hurl themselves down a steep hill after a 7lb cheese, was due to take place on 31 May but has just been cancelled because, apparently, the numbers of broken backs, necks, concussions have become unacceptable. Jake's appearance at the event would not only help publicise the opening of Prince of Persia, it would also get the event up and running (or tumbling) again and Jake would get some cheese. Win-win.

Hey Silver! Speaking as someone who knows absolutely nothing about American car racing - but who hugely enjoys our Formula One Grand Prix season (c'mon Jenson!) - I can tell you that the Indy 500 is a mystery. It is a race - it's also showbiz. Apparently Jake could be the Grand Marshall. Except for marshalling grandly, I'm not sure what they do.

Yeay! I love the cheese rolling. I used to pop down to watch it and I know people who take part every year - damn you Health & Safety Laws for banning a fine English May tradition.... If it were safe it wouldn't be fun... Jake could be the cheese rolling grand marshall.

I really must eat...

You Yanks may have some glitzy, celeb-filled, race car orientated event, but us Brits have cheese-rolling. Personally I would love to see Jake Marshalling this instead. :)

Hi there Get Real! There's so much going on! I'm so glad to hear you have the sun back over there. I've put away my winter coat - I hope I haven't been too hasty... Lovely pics :D

Hey Anon! That's a great cheese rolling pic - steep! A Grand Marshall is definitely needed and Jake is the gorgeous man for the job :D

Hmmm...so it official, I'm cynical! You obviously didn't read the Indy article the same way I did -a good thing I think, I may have been in a bad mood ;-/ Over it now and dwelling on wonderful daydreams of Jake Marshalling the Cheeses. Wow that would be so great wouldn't it? Cheese Rolling looks (and is) waaaay more exciting than the Indy.

You like Jensen heh? I still think Schumacher is leagues beyond them all. I'm waiting for him to pounce...

Thanks WDW, this post really cheered me up. I wish there was a photoshopped pic of Jake, chasing a cheese. In PoP costume. Askh could be galloping after them, pursued by an ostrich...I think I'd better leave it there!

Hi there TDippy! I'm glad you're feeling happier today :D Jake rolling cheeses is a good image... I'm goin to be interested to see what Schumacher brings to the season.

I love that image!

I love Duncan for keeping us in the loop as to what is going on on the set. I wish other directors would keep us informed.

So they'll be in Chicago? Too bad I won't be :( But if he comes to the DC area to film I'm in :D

I think Jake's Tux for the Oscars had that classic 'leading man' look about it. The hanky in the pocket was the perfect addition to a gorgeous suit on a gorgeous man. Made everyone stand up and take notice (not that they didn't already but you know what I mean)
