Jake Gyllenhaal makes the earth move, and SC: 'If you like your Jake G. running around sweaty and bothered for 90 minutes, you’re going to love this'

I always knew that when I see Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for the first time, I may feel the earth move, but it turns out I was more right than I knew. Disney has signed a deal with D-Box which means that Prince of Persia will be shown in theatres with technology that moves and shakes seats and platforms. So, you too may parkour from wall to wall with Jake Gyllenhaal, you too my plunge into fountains and pools with Gemma Arterton - you may even get a go on an ostrich.

If you're lucky enough to live near one of these theatres, I'd advise seeing PoP with hardhat, elbow and knee protectors and brown paper bag. As there are no D-Box screens in Europe at all, I would advise the rest of us to just jump up and down a lot and sway from side to side at appropriate moments. Rushing to and from the screen quickly will also create a 3D effect.

OK! (yes, I do mean OK!) has just published a feature that looks ahead to the release of movies being made at the moment. Among them is Source Code and expectation is high: 'THE GIST: Colter, a soldier, finds himself suddenly in the body of a commuter on a morning train, when a huge bomb explodes. He then finds out he was placed on a mission to find the bomber and the story soon unravels from there… WATCH FOR: Colter going back in time to the moment the bomb explodes in order to figure out who is responsible. As he returns to the scene time after time, he begins to notice that he has eerie visions of Christina, the girl he was sitting next to on the train from the very beginning. EXPERT SAYS: “Source Code may be the best sci-fi script written in a long time. If you like your Jake G. running around sweaty and bothered for 90 minutes, you’re going to love this.”'

I think it's fair to say that I am one of those who does like my 'Jake G running around sweaty and bothered for 90 minutes' - although I'm counting on plenty more than 90 minutes' worth.

Talking of hot and sweaty, I recently found an English version of part of a German interview with Jake (now gone) that I posted almost two years ago. Worth another look, I'd say, even if it is just a snippet. But it's the good bit and it's all about how Jake would impress: 'If I meet somebody, I always show her my real face straight away. Fresh produce is the most important ingredient when you try to win a woman's heart. Only then does cooking for two become an intimate pleasure. I'd cook loads of pasta, tasty vegetables and lamb's lettuce with tomatoes." However, he added: "If I could impress her with a striptease, I would."' So... the alternatives would be fresh produce or a striptease. Let me think about that one for a trillionth of a nanosecond. Source. I include pictures below for your comparison:

Hey! There's one of those D-Box theaters just 2 1/2 hours from me! I wonder if I could convince my brother to go with me...Or maybe I could challenge myself and see if I could drive that far... "Hey Olympia, what did you do this week-end?" "Oh, I drove 5 hours to see a movie where I could get the feeling of riding an ostrich." Ha! Ha! That doesn't sound insane at all! :DDD

OMG you must do it Olympia!! It sounds amazing - quite a unique way to see PoP. Well worth the drive (she says not actually having to do the drive :)) I wish I could see it like that here but there isn't one of these theatres here at all! Wish I could go with you :D

There are no D-Box theaters in the East Coast at all. Michigan and Texas have the nearest ones.

But maybe I can see :Prince of Persia" at an IMAX theater. I know where I can find one of those.

Hi Paul! I'm going to make sure I see PoP at the London IMAX. Bit of a trek but so worth it. Wish I could see it tomorrow :)

WOW there is a lot to comment on in this post. First I was surprised to note there is no D Box theater in my area (and I was surprised not even in NY. Although I wonder if this is a complete list) This reminds me of years ago when the movie Earthquake came out (okay I'm dating myself, it was during the 70s) And the BIG feature of this movie was it was in Surround sound (I think what we'd call now regular dolby stereo) So you would feel like you were really in an earthquake.

I can say I had an experience like this D Box feature when I was visiting the Empire State Building with my friend from Europe. We sat in this ride and the screen was like an IMAX and it took you on a tour through NYC and the seats moved up and down so you'd feel like you were on a shuttle (like from ST. I believe James Doohan (Scotty) narrated) I suffer from motion sickness so I felt kind of light-headed after that ride.

I LOVE traveling by train and I've watched movies involving trains before. This one sounds right up my alley, In combines my many interests. Trains, mystery, suspense a bit of sci fi and hmmmm am I missing something? oh yeah JAKE. and he can be around for more than 90 mins.

food prepared by Jake or striptease, hmmmm oh you know I like to be selfish I want BOTH (of course I can suggest to Jake we do scenes from 9 1/2 weeks and we'd cover it all) :D

a man cooking for me is FINE. I bet I could learn a lot from him (wink)

thanks WDW I love these updates

Hi Sweetpea! They do seem a bit scarce on the ground... not a sausage in Europe... Glad you like the updates!

Hey, I was reading about the D-box technology and I found out it's made in Québec! How cool is that! :)

I'm as selfish as Sweetpea, I want Jake to cook for me WHILE doing a striptease. :D

Thank you.

That is cool, Olympia! Can you tell them to open one over here?

Hey Monica O! Good to see you :D Totally agree - food is overrated and I have no need of fresh fruit and veg with Jake about :) Rather coincidentally I am watching a cookery programme :/

I had to lie down for a bit after I found the last post of last night, so I missed this one...

I think Source Code might be my kind of movie... Ahem... (going to lie down again soon...)

And LOL at your comparison of fresh produce and half naked Jake... Well, as much as I like vegetables.... Um... (more lying down for me...)
