One is hesitant to do a second post on the day when we have new pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal with Atticus, but there is more and so this post will include some more pictures of Jake with Man's Best Friend, wearing Man's Best Jacket - and the trousers aren't bad either. The Brothers DVD may be in the post to me as we speak, but the film only gets its theatrical release in Australia (and Denmark) next week. This means another round of publicity, on a suitably low (nay, near non-existent) level, so typical of Brothers. But we have a brief interview with Jake and the odd soundbite. They come from Jake so their quirkiness and sparkle more than makes up for their brevity.
Frinstance: '"It's true, actors do this stuff: 'Oh, he's great — he pisses lemonade and he shits rainbows,"'. '"I don't believe any more I can make a movie when I don't care ... about the other people in the process," says the actor, whose father is a director, his mother a writer and sister is the Oscar-nominated Maggie Gyllenhaal. "I don't think I'm any good when I don't interact."'
'Once poised to take over from Maguire in the Spider-Man franchise, 29-year-old Gyllenhaal credits his on-screen brother for initiating a meaningful and professionally rich relationship when the pair decided to do the film. "We'd work out together, we'd play basketball together," Gyllenhaal says. "Not only is he a great actor, he's also a great producer in some ways. He's 100 per cent always involved."'
'"Working on a movie like Prince of Persia was awesome," he says. "It was really great fun to be like an action hero, jump around and run off walls and fight bad guys, have great quippy lines. Wearing half your clothes is always really fun."' Not just fun for Jake...
And a perfect soundbite to finish: 'Whatever I dreamed and hoped for in my career and life is not how it's gone in a lot of ways and I love that'. Source.
In another feature, Jim Sheridan talks about whether Oz audiences will watch Brothers and there is a little bit more from Jake: 'While Sheridan is satisfied with his Brothers - '"Not a lot of money has to be recovered, so people can do what they bloody well like." Regardless, the Irishman, who comes from a theatre background and insists "I don't know much about film", inspired memorable performances from his trio of stars... Gyllenhaal, too, revelled in the "group effort" to ensure the film realised its potential. "Jim just promised this intimate, honest process, without this desperate need for the result to be extraordinary from the beginning," Gyllenhaal says. "You know: 'We're going into this and we're going to be a family [in] a big f---ing mess.'"' Source.
In this Blink and you miss it video from the Oscars, Jake is asked about a type of role that has yet (thank heavens) come his way - that of superhero. 'I'd never pass up a superhero, man.'

wonderful photos, WDW. One thing that Jake never has to worry about is Atticus ever leaving his side. That is his best but (man's best friend, well woman's too) I wonder how hard it is to travel with Atticus. Many countries have laws on bringing animals into a country and they are under quarantee. I think Jake has taken Atticus to practically every shoot he's done. He was with him when he did BBM and LAOD too. I'm glad these best buds are hanging together.
wonderful pics. I had read the article you posted, I think Jake is just learning life's lessons like all of us do. I'd like to think he did take some interest in his co-stars even before this but maybe reevaluating things has gotten him to take things on a more serious note
sweetpea
Hi there Sweetpea :D Atti is certainly so used to filmsets he could be pretty handy around the place - and he keeps Jake happy :D
I think Jake is just doing more of the thinking that comes to us all when we get a little older...
New post at MB about some things going on this week (Tron!).
Whatever I dreamed and hoped for in my career and life is not how it's gone in a lot of ways and I love that.
Something very important to say.
I love dogs and I love the interaction between Jake and Atticus.
Grat pics!
Hi there everyone! Sorry for the absence today - been on the road with not a lot of internet :D Back home tomorrow.
Hey Monica! I love what Jake says here and I am so happy to have pics of Jake and Atti together. Atti does get about!
I hope everyone's having a good weekend :)
Great stuff the last day or so - thanks for the posts WDW! I've had almost no internet access myself - it's been frustrating. Back on track now and looking forward to a glass of wine and surfing the net for anything fun I might have missed!
Have a good rest of the weekend all!
:-)
Hi there everyone! Back home and with tomorrow off so plnty of time to catch up :D
Hey there BBMISwear :-) And me too!
A big Happy Mother's Day to every mum out there :DD
With ShoWest kicking off tomorrow, does that mean we'll be getting our first POP reviews?
Mother's Day doesn't come until May in the U.S., WDW. If we want to see pictures of Jake taking Naomi out to dinner, we'll have to wait a couple months. Sorry!
It's not a nice weekend here in the Northeast. Half a million households in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut lost their power in a ferocious rainstorm last night. I didn't lose power, but the wind was so strong that my house shook. I worried about being knocked off my foundations, that's how bad it was. :-(. Today is the second straight day of heavy rains. The river will be overflowing its banks today for sure!
Happy Mum's Day to all the UK mum's out there! :D :D
Not only did we have storms, thankfully I have power, but we changed our clocks to daylight savings. Since we sprung ahead losing an hour I am tired this morning, lol. :p
As always great to see Jake and Atticus. :)
Paul, sorry to hear your house shook. Glad you are okay and I hope today's rain isn't to bad.
I think it does, Anon :D
Hi Paul! I know that American mothers have their day in May but today is for our UK mums, and I hope they all, including mine, have a lovely day. I've certainly eaten enough this weekend marking the occasion... :D
I hope the weather calms down for you over there. Duncan was tweeting that he spent the weekend away from Montreal exploring Boston - I hope the weather didn't spoil it.
Hi Get Real! We have a couple of weeks before the clocks do their thing. I love summer time with those long evenings :D
It's a beautiful day here today - got back home from up north and then went for a motorbike ride through the countryside (lots of lambs and donkeys!).
Hi WDW!
Would you happen to know where they are filming Source Code in Montreal? I'm studying here in the city and quite honestly, I need a good distraction right about now. My friends and I were thinking of just spending a day walking around Old Montreal - and hopefully bumping into someone interesting! :)
Hi there J! Thanks for contacting me :D I think the filming - except for bits at an actual railwaystation outside Montreal - are being filmed on a studio set away from the public eye, unfortunately. Jake's clearly out and about in the evening around Old Montreal but I suppose any good restaurant could be possible. Sorry not to be more help. Have a really good day out - and you just don't know who might be around the next corner! :)
