[Updated update] Jake Gyllenhaal to present at the Oscars... A new Prince of Persia trailer! Stuff. LEGO!

As promised - this post is hereby updated! The great news today is that Jake Gyllenhaal is now listed as one of the presenters for this Sunday's Oscars, so he will be there alongside Maggie, Source Code co-star Vera Farmiga and the cast of An Education. This also gives Jake the chance to dust off the tux and get some red carpet walking time in before May when a certain film is released - talking of which...

Today is a good day - it comes complete with a new Prince of Persia trailer. More Jake Gyllenhaal - in action and with that supercool English accent. Admittedly snakes don't come out of this too well but everything else is great. 'Difficult but not impossible' - I like that. And more snood. And little Jake. And flirtiness with Tamina. And confirmation from Disney 'PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME is in UK cinemas from May 21st.'

And for a further update... We knew that Jake was at the Crazy Heart gig in LA on 16 February but at last we have some pictures, including one of Jake with T Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham. The picture is from CMT (via IHJ).

And, with huge thanks to Stephanie for her permission to reproduce this picture here, here is a contender for best picture of the year - never mind Avatar. Please ask IHJ for permission before reposting this.

Back to the prince...

Updated (again!) to add a screencap from what may be the coollest website on the planet...

Includes pictures from links and IHJ.

well, I'm not British myself, but to me, Jake's accent didn't sound too great! lol

but yeah, can't wait for the movie - just to see Jakey, of course. because truth be told, this is a Disney movie. based on a video game! doesn't seem like Jake's greatest role, although I get it: it's fun. and Jake is shirtless for quite a few scenes, so maybe it'll all be worth it!

Hi Nathalia! Good to see you :D I hope you don't mind if I disagree about the accent - as a Brit, I find it strangely more believable than Gemma's movie voice! Weird that, but I like Jake's accent much more than I worried I might. I find it very sexy actually :D

Yes, this is a big Disney movie and I think a great experience for Jake and it'll open a lot of doors and create opportunities. And shirtless or not I think it's going to fill our summer with a lot of fun.

I don't think that a film need be bad just because it's Disney or based on a video game, which is actually a very good video game. I think this film will surprise a lot of people and I cannot wait!!

I want Jake to do a mix of films - big and small; fun and serious. We've had a run of serious so this is more than welcome. And then LAOD and Source Code after that - a mix and all exciting.

I'm talking too much! And again, good to see you Nathalia!

As an English girl (well from Birmingham, ha!) I am very surprised and impressed by Jake's English accent - much better than most American actors attempts, and I agree with WDW - sexy too :D

The new trailer was the first thing I saw on my computer this morning...well, after a look at the weather of course! What a great way to start the day - I love the new shots and little Dastan!

PoP is not my typical type of movie but it does seem like a lot of fun and having the 'love story' of sorts between Jake and Gemma's characters is a huge bonus for me. (Oh, and watching Jake jump on, up and over buildings and such - LOL)! I do like that there are such a variety of types of movies Jake has been doing these last couple of years, as you said WDW, and we are getting to see so many of them one after the other. If we ever get to see Nailed (even if only via DVD) that will pretty much seal the deal on Jake doing every type of movie in recent years - love that! Well, I guess Damn Yankees would give us the musical genre which will be wonderful too - crossing fingers for that. It's been a great few months for Jake and us Gyllenhaalics - and only getting better with each passing month I think!

Hey - great news for you Brits! (No, not the 2012 Olympics - LOL)! You get to see PoP one week early! And more premieres for all of us - yay! Pictures, videos, interviews - whoooowheeee!

Okay...I'm rambling...should be working (but it's kind of hard to concentrate with that new PoP trailer replaying in my head).

Have a great day! :-)

Wow, this is great - loved seeing the young Prince Dastan as a boy too, can't wait for that part of the story. Jake's accent sounds good to me too - but I'm an American. In fact, I'm surprised by how good it is and it shows he must have worked very hard to get it right, having watched(and listened) to many accents over the years in film. It blends and fits very well with the other characters'. :)

I love it, he sounds awesome, and looks great too. The story sounds so involved in every way, can't wait! :)

Hello! Had such a full on day today - abandoned the gym to come home and relax instead.

Just been busy updating the post with some new pics and bits and pieces.

Great news about the Oscars!!

Hi Karen! Glad that Jake's accent gets the Brum seal of approval! I think it's sooo sexy :)

Tut Tut BBMISwear :-) checking the weather before Jake!! Yep we need Nailed and Damn Yankees to increase Jake's genres. I love the range.

Hi 15:01 :D It was good to see the young boy. I can't wait to see the story of this. And yes, the accent really fits in - I'm glad they didn't go down the posh road - urchin is better.

Hey 16:19 - great impression! Love that bit :)

It's such great news, Silver! Wonderful. It's been such a long time. It would be beyond cool for Jake to present Maggie with her Oscar. And it's so good about the date coming forward a week - but oh dear me, Sex and the City?! You must train them :D

Hi Olympia! Yeay - Tux Jake! I'm really glad RDy will be there too :D Of course this means I'm gonna be up all night now for the Oscars trying to stream something that won't stream off the internet...

What a good day!

So am I, it makes for a wonderful story. Great news about Jake presenting at the Oscars - it would be so cool if Maggie won. :)

Agreed 18:49 :) On all counts.

Just updated the post - again - with a link to Lego's amazing PoP spoof site!!

Thank you so much for the 2 new trailer stills where Dastan takes off his hoodie! I stopped the clip this morning to admire that shot and was wishing someone made some screencaps. He looks amazing, that's the most beautiful shot of the prince I've seen so far.

Thanks also for the Jake and Peter hug pic, I hadn't seen it.

That Lego site is great! They even have an animated ostrich! :DDD

Swoon, new PoP pics! And Jake is looking better than ever with Ryan and T-Bone and of course I give an awww to him and Peter. :D :D

Having Jake at the Oscars as a presenter presents me with a dilemma. :-( I never updated my television set to the new HD format, so now I have nothing with which to see jake at the Oscars. :-( Should I rush out and buy a converter and gnash my teeth as I try to screw it on or in? Or should I buy the cheapest HD TV I can find? Decisions, decisions!

"Give me the dagger!"

:P

I can imagine myself "listening" to PoP for days to come when I can finally get my hands on a DVD...

It's great news that Jake will appear in Oscars. I miss him in a nice tux :) And he can cheer for his sister there.

Thanks for the new trailer. Jake and Gemma has great chemistry there.

This movie definitely isn't going to hurt my eyes. ;) But then, not even Moustache Jack hurt my eyes... :D

Thanks for the caps, WDW! Makes the wait easier for those of us who can't watch the vid today. ;)

Dang, Jake is looking HOT these days!!!

Anonymous said...

Thank you WDW. and just WHY do you get to see the Prince 7 days before I do! (:P) Just don't spoil anything. This movie I'd like to see cold, no spoilers.

I do like the trailer, I'm listening to more of Jake's Brit accent. I wonder who he worked with as a voice coach and how long it took him to get the accent down.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Oh Olympia, I do agree - that first picture in the post here with the hood - just simply stunning and so beautiful. I couldn't wait to get home to capture that one :)

I adore the Jake and Peter hug - and the ostrich! OMG perfect!

Hey Get Real! I know, I melt whenever I see the hug. Jake looks just amazing :)

Hi Paul! I don't have the channel to see it at all here, so I sympathise. Fortunately, I reckon it'll be online. But it would be great to see it on TV. I always get nostalgic for LA during the Oscars... Had such great times there for it.

Hey Winterbird! I miss the tux too. It'll be a grand occasion for the family - I'm glad Jake will be there.

I'm counting on at least a 2-discer DVD :D

Hi Anna! Posting at the same time :D Oh yes - very good for the eyes. My pleasure for the caps!

Hi 20:49 :D It does make a change to get something faster over here - and remember it's only a week. With Zodiac, Rendition, Brothers etc we had to wait months longer :D But yeah - we're usually good with spoilers here - drool can't be helped though...

Jake worked with a well known British voice coach. Barbara Berkery, I think. There was a feature about her here. It sounds like Jake was working with her very recently again for the voiceover. They worked wonders together - what a good job!

Here's an article about Barbara.

Do you know anywhere to watch it online WDW?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I don't at the moment, Anon, but I'll keep my ears open. They may even stream it on YouTube. Fortunately and hopefully IHJ will do their normal wonderful job of capturing any Jake pics :)

So much going on - Yay for another update! And Yay for Jake at the Oscars! Love the Crazy Heart gig photo! LOL at the coolest website on the planet! Never a dull moment around here...Whoowhee!

Laughing at "Tut Tut BBMISwear :-) checking the weather before Jake!!" - Hey, I have to be able to instruct the kid to either wear his lightweight hoodie or his fleece lined hoodie - priorities ya know!

Note to Paul: Do you have basic cable? If you do your cable company should provide you with a converter for free and I think it's pretty easy to hook-up. Without cable then maybe it's a whole different thing I don't know about. Either way I say go with buying an HD TV - can't beat 'em (especially for Jake watching)!!

WDW, the next time you're on this side of the pond we need to sit down and watch all my "Jake on TV" DVDs on the big screen TV - screw this internet stuff! We didn't have time for that last time as were too busy bopping around Gloucester and Martha's Vineyard but we will HAVE TO make time next time!!

Busy days...and it's only going to increase...get some rest WDW!!! :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Yeay BBMISwear :-) You do know how to put a smile on my face. So glad you liked the updates. And how I love that Lego!

We must watch those DVDs - i've seen so little of tv Jake. Can't wait til I'm back in Boston :)

what a day! Fab! Another busy one at work tomorrow but Jake and all of you are the perfect remedy *)

Hey WDW, interesting accent - did I hear a bit of Tony Blair? He sounds really good when he shouts!

Also the cute l'il kid playing young Dastan looks a lot like Jake at the same age.

My word is beetimpy! Nite x

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Nouskie! Jake shouts like a true Brit! It can't be easy to shout in a foreign accent but he does it so well. I will listen out for a hint of Tony Blair. I want to hear more of the accent and study it when the film's out. I'll need at least a fortnight off work. Very good to see you *)
