Jake Gyllenhaal behind the scenes and Jake talks about Anne Hathaway and knowing what makes women tick

I've just got back from watching Piranha 3D. As a result, this post will have absolutely no mention of fish in it. Or water. Instead, I'm taking the opportunity to do a little more catch up from May and those glorious days of Prince of Persia's release on to the world, when Jake Gyllenhaal wowed the red carpeted crowds and photographers alike. In these videos from MovieWeb, we have some more red carpet action from Moscow and London and some other behind the scenes moments - notably of Jake posing for the cameras on that roof top in front of Red Square and on the stage in front of the audience.

A couple of caps of Jake on the stage in Moscow.

Jake talks about Anne Hathaway and women

After all the Love and Other Drugs excitement of recent days, here are a few words from Jake about what it was like to work with Anne Hathaway, in the past and today: 'Annie and I had been through a lot together during the filming of Brokeback Mountain. I was still struggling with the separation fromKirsten Dunst and Annie heard my whining for hours and comforted me. We know each other so well now that the love scenes for Love and Other Drugs were in the can after a day. I play a pharmaceutical spokesperson, who fell in love with a woman, played by Annie, who suffers from Parkinson's disease.'

Jake also tells us that he's friends with Lance Armstrong 'Yes, Lance and I are good friends. Like him, I love to ride a bike. I even privately rode 46 km of the Tour de France in the Alps with Lance.'

He talks about Maggie and Ramona: 'At home, our job doesn't matter - even though our whole family is involved with show business. Our father is a director, our mother is a screenwriter our mother. Three years ago, Maggie's daughter Ramona was born. Since then, I've been an uncle and I love that girl above everything.'

Jake talks about fatherhood: 'It's a huge responsibility because you have to be so selfless. But I'm really looking forward to becoming a father one day.' And does Jake find it hard to understand women? 'Sometimes yes, but fortunately I have spent a lot of time with my sister and her friends and I know how women tick (laughs). You just have exceptionally high power and energy.'

And a repeat of an old answer about the state of his love life: 'I am an ascetic, living in a cave. I no longer have sex and so I've become much more interesting (laughs).'

And finally...

Stephanie of IHJ sent me a link today that has made me laugh so loud and long. I hope you enjoy it.

If you're interested, you can read my review of Piranha 3D here!

Includes pictures from IHJ. No human was injured by a fish during the making of this post.

Hello WDW

Those Moscow days were such fun. I really like the enthusiasm of Jake, Gemma and the red carpet fans.

Jake has been opening up a lot this year, his comments about the break up with Kirsten Dunst surprised me. I wonder if he channelled some of those feelings into his heartbreaking portrayal of Jack Twist in BBM.

Good to know that his chemistry with Anne Hathaway is such that they nailed their love scenes in a day.

Laughing at the dancing Jake!

Cheers

Oh my word - that ugly dancer was soooo funny!! I watched it twice.

I take it the film wasn't that good then? (Lots of blood & gore?)

Oohh Jake would make a lovely father and it's rare to find a man that appreciates how hard it is to bring up children.

Reading PoPsugar today it says that Jake got a parking ticket that day he was out on his bike - bet he doesn't drive it for a while anytime soon! hehehe - nice to see he is fallible like the rest of us....

It's the weekend - enjoy everyone!

Hi Tui! So much fun - I'm going to remember May for such a long time. He has been opening up - I think sometimes the questions are recreated after the fact but some comments, like the Kirsten one here, are very interesting. It's good to hear more about Jake and Anne together.

I love the dancing Jake!! I liked the hippy and robot moves most of all :D

Hey there Claire! Yes, we were talking about Jake getting a ticket in the pics - and he has been seen quite regularly over the years getting tickets. It must be a way of life in LA! I'm gonna do a Piranha review this evening, once my stomach has settled down... :D

It's the weekend!

I dunno, it looked a little contrived and awkward in Moscow. Jake seemed much more relaxed and happy in London. What a strange business they're in. After spending all that time together, I wonder if they all miss each other? Gosh, I really miss Prince Dastan. I'm so annoyed that Jake has not got one iota of recognition for the transformation into action hero. Watching things like the Teen Choice Awards and MTV Awards, where's Dastan? Grrrrr.

I adore how he talks about Ramona. I can imagine him being talkative to her as well as stern if she needs it.

About mentioning his break up with Kirsten, he hasn't actually said anything, only acknowledged that it was painful and hard for him to get over. It's great that he's in a place that it doesn't hurt to mention his feelings. I do agree that the pain of that relationship is definitely in his performance. He definitely is looking at the man in the mirror these days. Hope he likes what he sees.

I hope Jake gets the heck outa that cave soon or we may just have to hunt it down. Oh and LMAO at dancing Jake. It actually looks like Jake would do all of those moves - just like that. Thanks, WDW and Stephanie, I'm gonna go watch it again heheheh.

That dancer!!! Good heavens that was fun. I hope the real Jake dances better than that (no doubt about it), otherwise he'll be living in that cave for a loooong time. *grin*

Thanks so much for the Moscow vids, they're wonderful. What a beauty Gemma is, and I love how Jake is such an attention junkie. Don't get me started on Mike's tie... ;-)

The Kirsten comment surprised me too. Lovely to hear about Anne though, even in the trailers their chemistry already shines trough. Can't wait! :-)

This is wonderfully sweet and also hilarious! Another Swedish do it yourself website... Did they start with Jake this time though I wonder? Cos it looks a lot like when he tried to pick up those girls in that nightclub...what an image!
Thanks again - for everything!

I've only heard Jake say he was just running on emotion during BBM because he'd had a break up right before it and it was like being kicked in the gut or something like that. I don't rem. him mentioning her name.
It's like the article where it says he says Reese's name.
I think they just added those so people reading it who may not know much about him would know who was talked about.
I think some of articles take from others and move things around to make it sound like it's an original interview.
May be wrong, but have seen it done with other actors before.
If there was an audio of it would know for sure.

Hey Sheba! I get the feeling that Jake found Moscow wonderfully different and exciting but he felt more at home in the familiar London - but I just loved the whole thing :)

I also get the feeling (and obviously I have no idea!) that Jake is in a good place these days and is able to talk about all of this.

Hey Lady Ekster! Did you make him dance? SO funny :) OMG MIke's tie... Mike's dress sense full stop!

I'm so glad you liked it TD! It does look a lot like Moscow dancing Jake :D My pleasure!

I've written my fun review of Piranha 3D at MovieBrit :D

Hi Anon - posting at the same time :) As I mentioned before, sometimes the questions in these interviews appear to be tailored afterwards and I think that's the case here. I don't doubt Jake's answers here or that it's a genuine interview, just how some of the questions are worded. Obviously, we very seldom get the audio!

Argh! What is wrong with me! I posted wrongly on the 16th of august post then on the motorbike one. Oh dear :S To sum up. Love trailer 2. Not so sure about trailer 1. Hahaha i'm laughing at myself.

Oh yes, I definitely made him dance - he's still moving. :-D I can't quite choose my fave combo yet: the Hippie-Twist or the Kick-Go Go Go.

On a sidenote, regarding that interview audio topic: I've worked in business journalism a couple of years and - at least in NL - media are forbidden by law to publish audio tracks of their interviews. That's why you hardly ever get the full picture of a written interview, and yes, it does sometimes cause quite a conflict between journalist and interviewee after publication. ;-)

HaHaHaHaHa!!!!! That link is awsome, I can`t stop laughing. :DDD I love how you can choose his legs and arm moves! And the pic they used has the perfect expression. :D

I love how Jake keeps calling Anne Annie. :)

WDW you are a brave woman. No WAY would you get me near Pirahna 3D. I don't like those kinds of movies.

I'll stick with LAOD, now THAT kind of danger (seeing Jake's naked bum) I can handle.

The interview is a nice read and I wondered a little that he seems to open up these days - I had that thought already with the Gala-thingy.
But it's kinda nice - it seems he "settles" a little with the "downsides of journalism/media interest" (if that makes any sense for you native speakers lol).

Bless him about the comments how women tick - yup we have loads of energy and are powerful :D

And again I want to leave a thank you for your blog WDW and to all the ladies here - it's so much fun :)

Hi there everyone! Running a bit late as got dragged into town for a humungous veggie breakfast :D

Welcome back Silver! And thanks for the comments on the posts as you've gone through them. Love your reaction to trailer no 2 after the first one :) I hope you had a good holiday!

Hi Lady Ekster! I do agree that this can create difficulties and there is a contrast between Jake's foreign language and his English ones. Very interesting. Jake must be worn out now with all that dancing :D

Hey there Sweetpea! I know, I must've been bonkers, but I did enjoy it in a fun way. These films keep me entertained as I wait for LAOD :D

Hi Sasha! Yes, I know what you mean. Jake can give such different interviews when he wants, and moves away from his stock answers. That's us women :D

And thank you so, so much Sasha! I'm so glad you like the place.

My pleasure Yuna!

I hope you're all having a lovely Saturday :)
