Jake Gyllenhaal loves his Hoyle Jacksons and Prince of Persia DVD/Blu-Ray extras announced for September

If any of us have any money left after buying Prince of Persia and Jake Gyllenhaal lego, keyrings, 4" figurines, 6" figurines, jigsaws, graphic novels, popup books, posters, mugs, notepads, cinema tickets, daggers of times (actual size and miniature), halloween outfits and popcorn cartons, we're now on red alert for the DVD release. We knew it was coming in September but the release has now been confirmed for 13 September in the UK and 14 September in the US. So in a little over a month we can immerse ourself in wall to wall Dastan viewings, which, I predict, at least in my case, will comprise a considerable amount of rewinding and pausing. Who needs a dagger of time when you have a remote control?

The bad news is that there isn't to be a Jake Gyllenhaal commentary, which is a trick missed because Jake is a master of them (do check out the commentaries for Bubble Boy, Moonlight Mile, Donnie Darko and Zodiac, if you haven't already). But there are extras which increase the more types of disc you buy. So, in other words, if you want all the extras you have to buy the Blu-Ray/DVD/digital bundle. Here are the details courtesy of ComingSoon:

'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is available in a 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy), 1-Disc Blu-ray, and 1-Disc DVD and Movie Download.

DVD Bonus Feature: An Unseen World: Making Prince of Persia – A look behind the scenes on the set of the film.

1-Disc Blu-ray Bonus Feature: All of above DVD bonus plus Deleted Scene – The Banquet: Garsiv Presents Heads.

3-Disc Combo Pack Bonus Features: All of the above DVD and Blu-ray bonus features plus · CineExplore: The Sands of Time – Take control of the dagger and use it to unlock secrets behind your favorite scenes! Turn back time and uncover over 40 spellbinding segments – including “Walking Up Walls,” “Filming in Morocco”, and “Ostrich Jockey Tryouts” – with this exclusive interactive feature. Blu-ray puts you in control!' Here's hoping that these 40 spellbinding segments include plenty of spellbinding Jake. It also means I have to invest in a blu-ray player which is not so good...

Best dressed!

Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal have made the just-released list of Vanity Fair's best dressed for 2010 - not just as individuals but as a pair of stylish siblings. The two reveal to the magazine: 'Maggie's favorite item of clothing is a patterned silk Dries Van Noten blazer. Jake's favorite is his Hoyle Jackson jeans.' Full list: 'OCCUPATION: Actor. RESIDENCE: Los Angeles. FAVORITE ITEM OF CLOTHING: Hoyle Jackson jeans. FAVORITE FASHION PURCHASE OF 2010: Salvatore Ferragamo made-to-measure three-piece suit. FAVORITE SHOES: Billy Reid Delta work boots. FAVORITE TAILOR: Mario’s of Beverly Hills. FAVORITE WATCH: 1954 Rolex Submariner. STYLE ICON: Clint Eastwood. FAVORITE CAUSE: New Eyes for the Needy.' This post includes pictures which provide the perfect demonstration for how to wear Hoyle Jackson Jeans. The hat is an optional extra but bonus points for the scarf. Clint Eastwood, eh? Interesting.

I think this picture above is my favourite from that Oscars Red Carpet 2010.

Includes pictures from IHJ.

Totally agreeing on that fave Oscars 2010 picture. A picture says more than a thousand words...

'It also means I have to invest in a blu-ray player which is not so good...'
Same thing here. :-( Plus a decent tv to go along with it, not my old-though-beloved little screen that sometimes turns green and pink when you have it on for an entire evening.

I hope you don't mind me writing that I'm a little - no, a lot actually - disappointed by the extras so far. Just 1 deleted scene...? No commentary...? Come on. That Cine Explore thing better be very, very good. Meaning: including at least a Dastan's Abs Featurette, among other Dastanlicious things.

Hi Lady Ekster! I don't mind you writing that at all - I feel the same. My consolation is that we've had so many featurettes in advance etc - but I would have loved a commentary. The Cine thing had better be worth it! But I'm annoyed at how the DVD contains just one extra, not even the deleted scene. My TV's not up for it either so I'll have to get an external drive for the laptop. I think it's a shame that the features aren't the same on Blu-ray and DVD - that's my big complaint! Bad Disney... but at least it's out soon :D That's good!!

I absolutely love that Oscars pic - so much in it. That's why I have it saved as 'proud brother' - it really stood out. A pleasure to post it tonight.

An external drive for the laptop? That sounds like a good idea. My lappie will take it much better than my poor old tv, I guess. ;-)

Still I feel like whining like a spoiled child at the moment. I had hoped to ease my Top Gear withdrawal symptoms (sorry for that) with a packed PoP bonus dvd to look forward to, released conveniently close to my birthday. Instead I'll have no choice but to buy a bluray player if I want to see the goodies. Hmm.

Hello WDW and everyone.

Good to see Maggie and Jake on the Best Dressed list. they both really work hard to be in fashion, and Maggie pushes the envelope with her fashion sense, going for the unpredicatable. Laughing that Jake mentioned his well worn jeans as his favoutrie. And the boots got a mention.

Had a geek moment and researched blu-ray players online. Technology is always much more expensive when it is introduced to the market. I hope the cost of blu-ray players will come down. I would love to see the blu-ray extras.

Happy Jaking everyone!

Cheers

Tui

I have those Top Gear withdrawal blues too, Lady Ekster :(

Maybe we should get Play Station 3s - they play blu-rays :D

Jake and PoP is a lovely birthday pressie!

Hey Tui! They are expensive although I think the problem us you need a modern TV to play them.

I love the thought of Jake talking about all his favourite clothes - and we know he loves them as be wears them all the time - lovely :)

I tried to get back here last night to comment on last night's wonderful post but couldn't...now I have two great posts to comment on!!

First, WDW, I knew how much you'd LOVE the new/old Jake and David pictures! I smiled ear to ear when I saw them yesterday and could almost hear you squeeeing across the pond! LOL at the games you speculated Jake was playing (I was also laughing at him being a bit of a slob - ha ha)!

I loved the new/old pics IHJ posted the other day too from last year at Intelligentsia. And I'm guessing Source Code related with the Management 360 book in front of him! I know we've already seen some but it's cool to see after SC was filmed this time.

That German interview you shared with us, WDW, was wonderful. *sigh* And the photo that went along with it - stunning! Speaking of Heath (I wasn't but the interview reminded me of him) poor Olympia! Tried to do a daring thing and it turned out so badly - BBM on TV. I agree - plan your 2 hours and 14 minutes up on the mountain with the boys ASAP to recover! I still watch BBM every few months...I have to...I just...have to. *heavy sigh*

On to happier things: Nancy's! WDW! What great memories!! All the places we've been that he has been lately but we've not been there at the same time, huh?! :-(

I'm so excited for the DVD set and feel fortunate that I don't have any technology issues as there are more than enough televisions, DVD players, Blu Ray players and game consoles in this house to cover all of those needs - but the Bonus material?! What's THAT all about?! They could have done a MUCH better job than this. I honestly feel these companies need to do focus groups with movie fans before releasing DVDs. They have no idea what we want...what we are willing to pay for! This all reminds me of my chat with Jake about bonus features :-) which also reminds me of our chat about Zodiac and David Fincher which of course reminds me of you, WDW! Whew...a whirlwind of memories going on here! Sorry!

I love the Jake/Maggie Vanity Fair combo and the list of favorites and it made me chuckle that many of here were probably not surprised with most of those answers. Have our eyes looked at Jake photos enough over the years?! LOL!! Great Jeans pics WDW!!!

Sorry this got so long...this is what happens when I combine my WDW post reading from two days into one. Never enough time, never enough. Which reminds me...go watch BBM Olympia!

:-)

Hey everyone,

Well those feature's are kind of a let down :( Sorry to use the POTC comparrison but the most recent film has 14 different special features, including a blooper reel! I would loved to have seen a blooper reel :P On the plus my brother's a bit of a technophile so we have a blu-ray player and big tv. Blu-ray is clearer, but it's not mind-blowing, i just wonder if it's worth it. I know that the discs are bigger so they can store more, so more room for special features but i was a bit disappointed with films that have been upgraded. There really isn't much difference. I only have 4 blu-rays because they're so expensive, my favourite being Moon. So beautiful. Moon has an "Easter Egg" on the main menu (you can watch Gerty play ping-pong with himself) i wonder if PoP will have one. We'll have to get exploring when they arrive :)

ohh I was waiting for a normal dvd with Jake's comment and all, my favorite one is zodiac because of the making of and all that stuff :)
I think the blu-ray thing is a little confusing for me ...
lol anyway I can't wait to get the dvd.
I think probably you are asleep now lol but hope you're doing ok :)

Thanks for this, WDW! I am so ordering my blu ray asap. I admit though I am quite a bit disappointed in no Jake commentary, I have heard his others & love them all. He should always do one on all his movies. Plus why not a blooper or gagreel??? You know with him being the cut up he is, that there is bound to be a lot of footage that would be excellent to put on the extras. I got my blu ray player last Christmas & love how much clearer the blu rays are, HD at it's very best. They have continued to drop in price as they ramp up the 3D version to try to get us all to buy soon, so watch your sales out there, not sure how that goes in the UK, but here in the states, I find great sales all the time on electronics. & the PS3 is always a great idea if you have family that does the game thing. That's like getting 2 for 1.

I love that VF put him & Maggie in their 2010 International best dressed list. They are both so beautiful & truly dress to the nines. Well done, Gyllenhaals.

Good morning!

Wow, the PoP DVD release is really soon! That's great! (I think even in Germany it will be relased already on September 30th) Not so great: No Blu-ray player here either... :-/ But for now I am not intending to buy one - does that make me a bad Jake fan? :D
I don't understand what Disney is up to with this release policy... It seems that even when you buy the bloody 3-DVD set you get stuff you could have gotten on some regular DVDs some time ago... Hm... I wonder if they will really up their DVD sales with that...
And I am not going to say what came to my mind when I read the title of the deleted scene... :D :D :D

On to happier news! That's great about Maggie and Jake being on that list!! I have to admit I had to google to make sure that Jake mentioned the right jeans and boots as his favourites (cause of course I never knew the brands of them... Now I will have to save some money for the boots... :D). And actually I need to check if my dad's first Rolex he bought back in the day was that 1954 Submariner...

Great pictures of Jake and David Fincher yesterday!!
And the interview was very nice - just a pity that it came from BILD... :-/ (German equivalent to The Sun and stuff like that...)

Have a good day everyone!!

Hehe, my word: horse

Morning everyone!

Lovely comment, BBMISwear :-) I'm not surprised you could hear me squeeing from there when I saw those David and Jake pics! I absolutely adore them. There should be pictures of Jake and David together at least once every year, just to make me happy :D

I've not seen BBM for quite a while, but I fully intend to watch the movies all again his summer. As well as BBM, I really want to watch Zodiac and Rendition again.

Yeah, we know as much about Jake's clothes as Jake does :D And we do of course provide him tips on occasion (not to mention the odd 'what are you wearing?' tip). I'm glad you liked the interview form the other post and that superhot pic that came with it :D

Hi there Silver! I would have liked more - a gag reel would have been brilliant! I love the Moon DVD - some interesting extras on that one. Bodes well for SC :D

Hi Linda! The Zodiac DVD is great - that Making of documentary is fabulous! The other one I really enjoy is the (very rare now) special US edition of Jarhead with its diaries on it :D

Hey there Vanessa :D It does make me mad thinking what we could have had - like the gag reel and commentary. I do wonder if it's because so many featurettes etc came out before. But seeing the film again willl be incredible! The PS3 option is a good option as the problem isn't the price of a blu-ray, it's the price of a telly that can play them. I never need much of an excuse when it comes to game consoles :D

Yes! Great for Maggie and Jake - I was watching Nanny McPhee and Maggie is just beautiful and lovely in it. I bet Jake enjoyed that film too :)

Morning Uli! You bad fan! Chortle... no it doesn't :D I like the idea of a rolex for submariners - must be good at great depths :D

Have a good day everyone, my word is evemates :D

Just updated the post with the full list, including the boots. Love the idea that this year Jake bought a made to measure suit :) What a lucky tailor....

Morning all, a week or 2 back disney UK was selling off the PoP merchanise at 99p each - so now have figures and dagger at a much reduced price!
Counting down the days until DVD, had noticed that a couple of UK sites had different dates for the release and wasn't sure which to believe - the earlier the better!!!

PS finally figured out how to sign in with a user name....hehe

Looks like I will have to make a little deduction from the wedding fund for a Blu Ray Player and the related HD TV too WDW:)

Some classy dressers featured in that Best Dressed list along with Jake and Maggie. I love that Carey Mulligan made the list.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Claire! That's great that you have a proper sign on - fab :D Definitely the earlier the better - not long at all :)

Hey Carol! Sounds like the perfect wedding gift for yourself... with a bit of Dastan thrown in. Carey is a beautiful dresser - just so elegant. Although my mind is rather boggling at the inclusion of a certain PM's wife...

Chucking it down out there...

WOW I'd have to invest in a blu ray player too but alas I don't have the moola for that. SO I'll have to be happy with a DVD. All I want to do is see the prince again.

I think Jake and Maggie looked very stylish at the Oscars. I am glad they made the list.

Regarding the proud brother pic, Jake's eyes are too far right to be looking at Maggie, and the two women behind him seem to be looking at the same mystery subject. Who/what could it have been?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Sweetpea :D Gonna be great to see Dastan again - and that is most definitely the main thing!

Hi Gyllenhaalisgr8! You could well be right, but I love that expression and it matches so perfectly with Maggie's joy and Peter's pride that I can dream :) It's such a gorgeous pic!
