WDW Cornwall Interlude Part 4

The post this evening is completely off-topic, because of a variety of factors, ie distances in Cornwall are a lot further than maps suggest and I've had quite a day driving and walking between the most southerly places in Britain and the most westerly places in England. Everywhere round here has 'Most' in its title and geographic location on the extremities of the isles is far more important than the quality of an establishment's clotted cream. I can at least report that so far I have resisted all pressures made on me to consume a pastie.

Today I headed down to Lizard Point, the most southerly point in Britain. My tip is that you park in the free carpark in the village and don't drive down the tiny track to the sea. This is because if you do drive it there's a good chance you'll be reversing longer than your clutch would like until you reach a passing place.

After the Lizard I found a cove that only myself and several other thousand people know about. A beautiful place to eat an icecream and people/surfer watch.

From there it was the National Seal Sanctuary in Gweek which strangely also had penguins.

Finally, it was on to Land's End which, rather to my surprise, had a Dr Who exhibit so clearly wasn't touristy. Despite efforts to get travellers and holiday makers into the shops and exhibits the best draw of Land's End was undoubtedly the most stunning view of the sea and cliffs. Beautiful.

A busy day tomorrow - the sea trip is on! God help me...

Apologies for the lack of Jakeness in this post. But I wanted to post something rather than nothing at all.

Great pics WDW. I love the sea and those pictures are beautiful. Those pics make up for the lack of Jakeness this evening:)

I love the signposts - John o' Groats and New York.

Enjoy the rest of your hols:)

Hi Carol! Thanks so much for that - I've had no time today but wanted to do something. And share my hol - as after all, it's just me and WDW (and a bunch of gulls). I love the sea too. It does me good.

I miss Jake. Gotta wonder if he's back on MV already!

That first pic is amazing, what a beautiful sky! Don't apologize for the lack of Jake in this post, you almost gave us an overdose in May, we'll be fine. :D

I hope you see sharks and dolphins tomorrow! :)

OMG TD! You continually amaze me! You knew the cove - love that. And it was so beautiful. I'm staying an extra day so I can explore more of these coves. Sennen tomorrow :) If I lived round here notging would keep me away from Kynance Cove :) Thank you! And you knew Goldsworthy :)

Hello WDW.

Good to see you so busy and enjoying your holiday. Twenty odd years ago I was at Lands End. Brings back the memories! I remember Tintagel being beautiful.

Thanks for the lovely pics.

Cheers

Thank you so much Olympia! it's so good to be able to share. That sunset was amazing. I sat on a bench on the cliff with a glass of wine and it was so special:) I'm really excited about the boat trip tomorrow. Thank you!

Hey Tui! Posting at the same time :) That's great thinking you were there too. I'm glad to bring back some memories!

Hi WDW, I hope you enjoy every second of your hol! You deserve it.

I am loving the additional association of Jake, to add to the nostalgia of my own Cornish memories. I can't wait to see what you make of Sennen...and Zennor?

A National Seal Sanctuary? Wow.

Can I make a complaint about how totally unfair it is that you get to enjoy views like that, plus seals, penguins and the probability of sharks while the rest of us are at work? Even worse: at work while missing a very beautiful Californian man??

(*clears throat* I should probably explain that yesterday I finished my journey through the WDW archives. I read each and every one of the posts, and it was such good fun that I'm having withdrawal symptoms now)

More beautiful pictures WDW - thank you so much for sharing! The last photo reminds me a little of one you took when we were at Gay Head on Martha's Vineyard - do you remember the one I mean? Not exact but something with the rocks and the angle.

Not much on line time today for me and no new Jake news any way...sigh. I want pictures.

Until next time... :-)

Your pics and recaps of Cornwall are gorgeous, WDW!! Sigh....so seems so lovely there. Glad you are enjoying. :)

There is video of Jake, Maggie and Peter back in LA having dinner. Jake is in full facial hair mode! Otherwise all is quiet on the Jake front.

Beautiful, especially that first photo. Hope the weather stays nice for you.
I thought it was just me missing Jake - glad to see I'm not alone.

Hey Get Real I saw that video too - they were trying to say that Jake has a new girlfriend but it seems to be his assistant....hehehe
Do wish he'd find a razor.

Hi everyone! Sorry for being absent today - I had a very early start and was deprived of internetage :D Now I can just about hook onto the internet if I sit very still in one corner under the TV.

Hi TD! Loved Sennen - I'd heard all about it from a surfing friend - but so busy(why am I surprised...?). I'm glad to add Jake into the Cornwall mix, I've been thinking of him too.

Lady Ekster! That is bloody great!! I'm honoured and thrilled you read through them all!! Thanks so much for spending so much time on it. Thank you :)

And sorry about that. Jake wore me out in May. I'm recuping and then ready to go again!

Hey there BBMISwear :-) It's very similar round here to Gay Head - the rocks are similar (although the beaches are more open here). There really are a lot of comparisons. What's different is the height of the hedges and it's so flippin' hilly!

Thanks Get Real! Jake was definitely rather hairy in that video - surely it's reaching the itchy stage by now...?

Hi Claire! You're certainly not alone - missing him much :)

Thanks Silver! I can't see anything Jakey at the end of the link but it dates from February 2009 so I'm afraid it's probably not new. Sooner or later he will be back!

I hope everyone is having a lovely day :D

Gorgeous sunset pic. and I love the cornish coves.

I remember that Landsend sign. There is a family picture somewhere of me, my brother and my mum and dad under that sign, with our home town shown on it. I can't remember the miles but the number is a lot lower than New York and John O'Groats! :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Thanks so much for explaining Molly! My internet access is too terrible here and I can't see the link.

What's Eat Pray Love? Never heard of it.

Thanks Silver!

Hi Rubes! The sky is magnificent here :D There was such a long queue at the sign but when I got there someone was finding out how far they were from Hereford... The coves are just beautiful :D

Whoops sorry WDW! I should have explained better. Eat pray love has Julia Roberts and James Franco in it, i saw the trailer before Twilight. I'm so excited, i think we will be getting a trailer tomorrow! Someone on imdb said they will be released :D
