Love and Other Drugs - cultivated chemistry and occasionally Jake puts a shirt on. Plus a WDW Interlude - best in show

'They spend a certain amount of time having sex in various places', says Edward Zwick of Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway's characters in Love and Other Drugs. Zwick is talking to W magazine and thanks to IHJ we can take a peak although, and according to Zwick this is a rarity for Jake in this film, Jake has a shirt on in the photograph. 'Good for Jake', says Ed.

''Jamie comes from a family of overachievers' says Zwick. 'He never fulfilled his parents' expectations. Fucking has always been his validation'. Gyllenhaal and Hathaway have explored similar territory before: The two played lovers in 2005's Brokeback Mountain, but they worked together for only a few days. In preparation for their sex scenes in Love and Other Drugs, they spent a lot of time cultivating their chemistry - and it shows. 'There's a moment where Jake's character test-drives Viagra,' remembers Zwick. With Hathaway's Maggie? 'No - with her, there wasn't any need for it.''

Is it just me, or did it suddenly get hot in here?

WDW Interlude...

Today, myself, Ruby and Mr Ruby attended the Berkshire Show in er... Berkshire, which is definitely the biggest show on the entire planet. I may never see that many tractors again in one place, or ferrets. Men climbed huge telegraph poles, they competed to make horseshoes and reshoe said horses, there was every type of cheese and bread, enough hog roast rolls to pave the path from here to the moon and back and more than enough cider to fill an ocean. There were pigs, cows, horses, geese, ducks, snakes, sheep with mean eyes, green wellies and enough tweed to dress the entire Persian army. There were also some of these...

Rather spookily, there was a Wicker (Wo)Man, which will be ritually burned in Oxford on 6 November for Guy Fawkes. All actors are advised to keept their distance.

Scans thanks to IHJ, pics from WDW.

Love the new scans. Jake and Anne seem to fit so well.

Looking forward to LAOD. :)

Hi there Lucia! Thanks for commenting :D Me too! We did have a lovely Sunday but it was well and truly knackering. Could've done with a tractor to get about...

Rubes! Glad it's not me. I have a feeling LAOD will be very toasty indeed. I liked the cosy pigs, although I don't know how they can doze and cuddle with one ear in a bucket of water...

Hey Rob! Yeah, but where were the sturdy men??

Hope you catch him, Rubes :D

They really do, JF! I think we're in for a real treat! And hopefully not the last time the two of them will work together.

Hi!
"He never fulfilled his parents expectations" - Hm, a strange reason to become a sexy womaniser.:)
I wonder how Jake and Annie were cultivating their chemistry. Did they practice or talk it over.:)

Rural pictures remind me of my grandma house and summer' vacations. There were cows, turkeys, chickens, working on fields. Great time!

Thanks for the interlude! Love the pictures. :-D

The temperature has definitely raised - like it wasn't hot in here already thanks to PoP's presence! ;-) Multiple sex scenes, Jake shirtless, Viagra testing... This may very well become the film that gets me a restraining order for the cinema. I'm gonna stalk it till it gets nightmares from me, muhahaha.

Now, let's see if that Blogger pic I uploaded works (that deleted comment is mine I'm afraid)... *crosses fingers*

Hi Mermon! It is a strange reason - Jamie sounds an interesting character! And I'm so glad the pictures reminded you of some happy memories. I love animals of all shapes and sizes (mostly - so long as they don't have too many legs or none at all) and I love to see them. My grandmother had a farm in Wales and it reminds me of that too.

Yeay Lady Ekster!! Looking goood :D Always good to see the place brightened up! And that's such a good choice for a pic.

Yep, this film is going to be... saucy :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

^^^ Meant to say that the 'hammock' pics were the first screensavers I ever used for Jake on work PC years ago :D Love that memory...

Darling Bluebell said...

Thanks! :-D I thought of it tonight and it turned out to be so easy to do (apart from posting the first comment afterwards *cough*).

I'm glad the pic brings back good memories. :-) I had another one up but for some reason a man in a hammock is always a sexy sight so I changed it. ;-) I fear, though, that the cropping of the picture has changed his seductive stare into an angry frown... Meh.

It's so funny! I use to say, that if insects would be the size of the lion or horse - they would have been the most terrifying creatures. Because of the legs, of course.
LadyEkster - your avatar is lovely, how did you do that? . I would like to have one too.:)Congratulations

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I think it's great, Lady Ekster, and I love that sexy glare :D It really has such good memories for me :)

I know, Mermon! I'm not the biggest insect lover, but I am the spider rescuer round here as Mr WDW is terrified of them!

It's so easy to do if you want a pic, Mermon. Create a blogger acount as Mermon (it just creates a profile, you can make it private) and then you can upload any picture and it'll shrink it to the right size for you. So when you post a comment you log in and there's Jake with you! Give us a shout if you try it and get stuck - my instructions are usually terrible!

WDW
I can't create a blogger acount, only Google Account. It says I can also use my Blogger account. But I don't have one.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Mermon! Google and Blogger are the same thing these days. You can go to blogger.com and create a blogger account by logging in with your google account name and password. Then when you post here or on any blog you put your google email address name and password. I told you I explained things badly!

mermon said...

Thank you WDW. I will try tomorrow. Tonight, I don't think properly. Time for bed. I need Jake to tell me sweet bedtime story.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

G'night Mermon - I'm off now too *)

Darling Bluebell said...

Thanks WDW and Mermon. :) Good luck with the avatar Mermon, I hope it'll be just as easy as it was for me. :)

Sweet dreams everybody! And good luck on the Monday tomorrow. ;)

I saw Studly, I mean Sturdy Men, at the Farriers Tent. I can't believe you were are the Show WDW!!!! I was there on Saturday! Beautiful weather. Best day out of the year imho. Saw the White Helmets on their Triumphs...:D

And one of the farriers horses was a beautiful liver chestnut. And one of the farriers looked like Heath.

The comments I overheard from the spectators, of all ages, has finally decided me too: never mock or underestimate the impact of horses on women!!

Saw the Llamas too.

OMG TD! That's amazing!!An amazing day out - Ccould've spent a week there... Just as well we were there on different days as that would drive me mad thinking we could have been watching the same thing at the same time and not known it!

We had a good look at the Bonneville :D Could have done with more time there but I was worn out - I didn't see enough of the horses, although saw quite a bit of the men putting shoes on them... The llamas were my favourite, followed by the pigs and the ferrets. Oh and the owls. One of the sheep looked seriously possessed - very scarey.

Jake would have loved it 0 next year we take him and all go together :D

Ooh the musical is the most popular now...

Ah the pigs are cute.

Cheers

I know, it would drive me mad too, to know you were just there...Ohh yes, lets take Jake, I have to admit to a fantasy or two, watching the Triumphs...;D I do wish I'd seen the wicker woman though, wowee!

I saw some coolie coolies (?) and an incredible black sheep with beautiful horns...and ....oh I love that Show!

Sorry to be so OT, I'm loving the sound of the 'W' magazine - do you think we'll be able to see scans of the whole article somewhen? (looking gift horse in the mouth, I know).

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Tui! It is - looks like Jake's going have to get going with those voice exercises :D

The pigs were lovely! I'm a veggie and I think they know that...

Me too, TD! I would've liked to have seen Jake in that Triumph display :D I saw those black sheep - amazing. Imagine coming across one of them in a dark field at night - you'd never see it!

W is in WHSmiths here a month late so we should get it eventally. they have the old W in Oxford at the mo. How I miss borders...

Hi WDW - relating to the last post - LAOD release date of 31 December, our birthday, would be great - we could do that idea of cinema tickets for Birthday presents that I thought of before! We can but hope :D
Also I love that Alison Hammond interview - she is a great Brummie, does us proud.

I will now read the latest post - sorry for being so slow!

Karen said...

Ooh my word verification before was "slact" - sounds like my working day today!

paulh said...

Interesting perspective on the black sheep! White sheep are hard to see in a blizzard, too. ;-)

I voted for musical. I hope it would have some comedy in it, too. It would be terrible to have Jake do a musical about a serial killer!
Then again, there's Dexter, who has a charming side. Oh, well.

Pigs always seem so happy when they appear in movies. The ones in "Nanny McPhee" were charming. When you say you're a "veggie," WDW, do you mean you're a carrot or a celery stalk or something like that?

Hello WDW, nice update for LAOD, great pics, and again, could hardly wait for LAOD, hope the UK release date won't get postpone for too long, and the other country too.
From the sound of it, it's really gonna baring all of Jake and Anne, sounds real hot and sexy :p, so in this case I hope LAOD will pass my country censor standard..hahahaha...
Seems like you have such great Sunday, WDW, RUby, and Mr. Ruby(?), the pigs is cute, and the baby sheeps is even cuter, so sweet, would love to give them some big hugs,er..may I? Another question, what is the animal from the first "WDW Interlude" pic?
Thanks for the post again!!!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Karen! Wouldn't it be great to get Jake naked in a bed (even with a pillow) as a birthday pressie - let's hold out a hope for it!!

Hi Paul! That is true about the sheep. Good job we don't have green sheep, we'd never seem 'em. I do agree about the musical. A depressing one would not be good. I like to think of myself as a slender red pepper :D

Hey Serene Hill! LAOD is going to be amazing, and I hope we all see it (in its entirety as soon as possible). Those gorgeous animals are young llamas. Just adorable! Thanks for the comments on the other posts, I'm catching up on those :D

BR said...

Hm. I'm still unable to get excited about this movie. Wish I knew why. Maybe because 'rom com' as a genre isn't my bag at all. I'm just kinda 'meh' about it.

Then again, I like to see Jake in odd little quirky roles.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi BR! I have a feeling that LAOD will surprise us all - this is going to be smart. And also not a little quirky :D I definitely think it's not your usual romcom, not at all. I hope it surprises you :)

Serene Hill said...

Oh, yea.. I remember now, Ilama, have seen it in one of MJ's interview, don't have that cute animal here though..
Thanks for the answer :D
