Jake Gyllenhaal shines at Elle's Tribute to Women in Hollywood, 18 October 2010

Wasting no time at all after his arrival back in LA, Jake Gyllenhaal took the earliest opportunity to look into the camera and shine and dazzle. The occasion was Elle's 17th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute held yesterday (18 October) at The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. Women in Hollywood are a fortunate bunch indeed.

As well as taking to the stage (was Jake the prize I wonder...), Jake was able to catch up with Hilary Swank and, showing that he's managed to block Proof completely from his mind, there were kisses for Gwyneth Paltrow.

Admittedly they were funny kisses...

And there was much beauty. It's not known if there was any food available.

Many thanks to IHJ for the spectacular pictures! There are many more there.

Indeed! I finally managed to leave the forum and a minute later you have a new post. How am I supposed to keep my mind focused on work this way?! *grin*

Good heavens, he looks stunning. Gorgeous. Breathtaking. Beautiful. I totally understand why he was a guest at a women's event. He must indeed have been the prize or something. ;-)
I had to look twice before I saw it was Gwyneth - she's so tall there!

I do hope he keeps the Face Pet under control... After the Bear weeks I feel a little twitch of the nerves scrolling down the pictures at IHJ.

Hello WDW and everyone

Have to agree with Lady Ekster and all, Jake looks stunning!

These are the first really close up pics we have had for a while.

LOL at your Gwyn issues under control WDW! And she's wearing (ugh) orange!

My word is culutten - evocative, but of what, I don't know. A historical place in Scotland?

Cheers

Tui

Hi Tui! Looks like we share Gwynnie feelings :D Horrible colour dress.

Hi Margaux!

Hey there Snow and welcome! And good to see you at the Pub too :D

So glad to see you, AM! A big welcome to you. I think that's because he has to hug Gwyn...

For me too, Lady Ekster :D

Oh wow! Jake and all these beautiful ladies. And is that Quentin Tarrantino there too? I always think that he is a director who supports women and is in their corner! That 4th pic is one of the most gorgeous I have seen of him. Wow!

nice, WDW. this was probably why Jake left NY, knowing he had this event he was scheduled to be at. Now that LAOD is nearing its publicity blowout, it is helpful that Jake put his face out there for ALL (beyond us gyllenhaulics) to see

It was nice to see him and Gwen together again

Hello WDW, today we have an early post, usually I would get your new posts in the morning with my time zone, hope I can get another post next morning :p
Jake looks gorgeous there, good to see him again, hope there will be full report of the event.
I see there is another new section you come up with? the popular posts? or that's only me that miss things here?
I was listening to Donnie Darko ending song, Mad World, now. Wonderful song.
Well, anyway, Thanks for the posts WDW!!

Hi!
I finally managed to leave the forum, myself and what a great post I found! And such a lovely pictures.
As I know Jake and Gwyneth are friends. They share really lovely smiles on those pics. It shows they like each other.
Did anyone know about this event and that Jake supposed to be there? That why he shaved! For all this women. :)
Maybe this meeting with Tarantino will be fruitful.
I hope we will have some video from that event.
Probably it will be many news about Jake very soon.
And I believe that like always - Jake will give his heart, time, charm, just himself to LAOD promotion.

I can't stop scrolling the page, up and down, up and down... I just... Not that I can't believe my eyes... It's just that... these pics are so gorgeous!! I got to see a few before going to bed last night and I was delighted. But the ones you posted here are supreme! And I just checked IHJ and there are 92 of them!?

It's like the Face Pet never happened. Lumberjack Jake? That's a collective dream/nightmare we all had...

He's amazing, isn't he? :-)

Jake always beautiful!

I hate the color of the dress of Gwyneth, but I love the photos of her with Jake.

Thanks!

I registered in the forum.

I have to say that I always give a huge squee when I see Jake talking with other actors and/or directors!!! :D :D :D I get a thrill from it and usually want him to work with them. I am a fan of Quentin and think Jake would kick ass in one of his movies.

And he looks amazing!!! Gorgeous, sexy, etc, etc!

From what I have read he gave a very classy speech for Gwyneth. And I am glad she acknowledged that she may have been a bitch during the filming. Although she of course didn't say it in those words, lol. ;)

Also have to say how much I adore the wonderful first hand report from the edible school event! :)

Hello everyone! Back home watching Star Trek IV and eating garlic bread :D

Thanks so much, A.M. :D I definitely think we owe it to Jake to hug him a lot.

Hi 14:57! Thanks so much for identifying Quentin Tarantino! I'm useless at recognising people... But now I can see it's obviously him *rolls eyes at oneself*

Hey Sasha! I hope you're feeling better now after some ogling :)

Hey Sweetpea! I think that the LAOD publicity is about to take off. It sounds like Jake is doing interviews tomorrow :)

Hi Serene Hill! I'm about to do a short update post so I hope that will reach you at a good time.

Ooh thanks for noticing - those are some of the posts with the biggest hits. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Hey Mermon! That's a lovely thought about Jake - that he shaved for the ladies :D We never seem to know which events Jake will appear at - a surprise always and a wonderful one!

Hi Alejandro! I had a great time picking these shots. Love them. And there are so many! Big thanks to IHJ. I made you a moderator on the Forum! It's turned your name purple there :)

Definitely Monica! He looks gorgeous. Unlike that dress which is... er (how to put this politely?) bloody horrible. Thanks for registering!

Hey there Get Real! I absolutely feel the same - I always get such a rush when I see Jake taking so animatedly with directors. It's wonderful. I'm updating the post with more from the event as it's very special :) And thanks!! It was great of Ned to share that.

Hi everyone!
I've been too busy today.
Jake in an event for Women. Lucky them! I will not repeat myself, I subsbribe all the handsome , beutiful, gorgeous,...on and on...
;o)
I do not like Gwyneth acting very much. But she gets my liking because she likes Spain a lot. As a teenager she was a exchange student in a small city Talavera de la Reina in Toledo province. And she is still in touch with her host family. The family was a regular family. So I think her parents did well sending her to other environment totally different from Hollywood and such. She speaks Spanish nicely.

Ooh, thanks WDW! I feel honoured. :-)

And btw, I'll be keeping an eye on you and the chair you grabbed yesterday, Sasha. Just warning you. ;-)

I can't tell if Jake and Gwyneth are friends. But Jake is a gentleman, of that I'm sure. And it was very nice of her to admit she wasn't in the best of shapes/moods when they filmed "Proof". And because I love "Proof", I thank Jake for suffering for the sake of art when necessary. What a man *sigh*

Good evening, WDW and fellow Gyllenhaalics!

Deeeeeelicious! Jake looks WONDERFUL! It looks like the break in New York did him the world of good! :L

And as for the "It's not known if there was any food available" part, is it likely that Jake would have attended if there was no food?! lol..

And how lucky are those women of Hollywood?

Cazajuguetes said...

I hurried back to the computer WDW!. Do not watch the last link, we eat lots of cute food as you refer to it. ;o)

These pics are amazing. He looks gorgeous here. Lucky I didn't see these at work or no work would have been done:)

Good to see Quentin Tarantino too. I'm a huge fan of his.

I'm a bit late with this but the forum is a great idea WDW: )

Hahaha, I just found coincidently words Jakes has spoken about Gwyneth in yesterday event. It's so funny. But I wait for WDW' update. Maybe it will be there.

Ooh, like that very much, Gyllenhaalisgr8!!

G'day Folks,

His speech... Hilarious! Domesticated, isn't that what most men dream of? Domestic bliss... Surely (NOT!). Agree, no spark (red eye... again).

Hmm... Looks like I'm in the minority, but I absolutely adore Gwynnie... and the orange dress. She's one of those exceptional women you could put a heshen potato bag on and she'd still work it like a goddess. Go Gwynnie!

My favourite pic of the bunch? Jake Gyllenhaal and Quentin Tarantino?! Whoopa! I'm a big Tarantino fan and was lucky enough to catch him here during his screening of (his personal copy of) "Dark Age". The man is hilarious, incredibly intelligent... a living legend!
http://www.popcorntaxi.com.au/2009/07/events/dark-age-qa-hosted-by-quentin-tarantino/
I so hope something comes out of this encounter. Somehow I'm picturing Jake with a sexy eye patch. ;-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Lemniscate! Well I always think it's just as well we have different opinions and a different view of orange! Very interesting to think of what might come out of such a meeting between Jake and Tarantino :)

Hmmm. Not a big Gwyn fan here either. However, I thought her auburn hair in Iron Man was the best she's ever looked (blonde hair just washes her out). But as for her emoting in Proof, they may as well have used an Old Navy mannequin! Jake deserved a much better co-star. I'm just sayin'.

(Sorry I screwed up the first post.)

I like Gwynneth Paltrow, and I'm looking forward to her new movie in which she plays a country singer. I saw a preview of it today when I went to see "Secretariat." Another preview was for the new "Nutcracker" movie, which has John Turturro in it (he worked with Quentin Tarantino a lot).

I respect Gwynneth a lot for being able to play such a difficult character in "Proof." It was a really hard role to play, and it didn't win her any points for popularity. Jake's character was allowed to be adorable (and jake was able to bring that out), while Anthony Hopkins just settled into the kind of befuddled-old-man state that he so often plays these days. Poor Gwynneth had to play an unsympathetic character who had to be redeemed by Jake's character. Jake was able to handle the redemption part, too. See, a lot of talent there! :-)

[Sorry about the rant. You rarely hear a good word about Gwynneth, and I think she deserves credit. She was awesome in "Sylvia," where her mother was played by her real mother. I think that was an interesting touch. Blythe Danner was absolutely gorgeous in the 1960s. Sic transit gloria mundi...]

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I totally agree Gyllenhaalisgr8!

Hi Paul! At least my ranting against Gwynnie gives you a chance to defend her :D
