Last night, Jake Gyllenhaal got the chance to test his tux (Salvatore Ferragamo) in advance of tonight's Golden Globes. Jake was one of many well-known faces who turned out to support the Art of Elysium at their 'Heaven' Gala at the California Science Center in LA.
The Art of Elysium is a non-profit organisation that 'encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. We provide artistic workshops in the following disciplines: acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting and creative writing'. One of its chairs is Ryan Kavanaugh, photographed below with Jake, who was a producer of Brothers. Jake also got the chance to practise his GyllenGlare.
Earlier in the day, Jake was out having breakfast in West Hollywood. In the recent jogging photographs and in these Jake wears a new bracelet.* Please note how I'm not mentioning that Jake looks just as hot from this angle as he does from any other.
*Update: I've been informed this is probably a 'Power Balance' band, that is now all the rage among people who think their power needs balancing but actually have far less need of it than many of the rest of us (speaking for myself). Wearers include Kate Middleton and Becks.
As Awards season progresses full steam ahead, the Guardian has done a feature on its top ten acceptance speeches. I'm delighted to say that Jake's heartfelt and extremely moving acceptance speech for his GLAAD award back in 2006 makes the list. Jake, of course, couldn't make the ceremony in person because he was filming Zodiac. Jake likewise missed the Globes that year for the same reason. But it means that his words are preserved in this video.

Thanks 17:29 :) The Globes are on tonight (or the early hours to be more precise in the UK). I think the Globes may be on Sky but I'm not sure - I don't have sky or cable.
The Golden Globes are on Sky movies tonight from 1.30 am. The red carpet coverage is starting from 11.30pm on Sky News HD.
That's an interesting bracelet. I wonder where he got it.

Loving the Gyllen Glare though I miss the Gyllen Grin hopefully we may see that tonight at the GG.
WDW your right he certainly takes a good photo no matter the angle lol, I think the braclet is one of those sport ones that loads of actors have been wearing, I'd wear one if it gave me a work out whilst sitting on the sofa reading but I dont think they can work magic!!!

The red carpet will be live streamed on AP Live I think from 11pm UK time for those who don't have Sky.
Forgot to add E have coverage from 11 and I think their website is doing a live streaming, also living have coverage from 1130 but Angela what's her face is doing it and last yrs coverage made me cringe, sky movies are showing the awards in full but don't think I'll be able to watch ad their on till 5 and I have to be up at 545 and no one wants to work with me on 45 mins sleep, an sure there will be loads of clips for us to see and if Jake wins it will be everywhere xx

I can definitely do without hearing her commentary too, T! Ugh. You'd have thought they'd have found someone else this year. Hopefully there will be footage online tomorrow.
Even if Jake doesn't win T he will probably still be everywhere on those best dressed lists:)

Hi! I can't stay up so long to watch Gala, cause tomorrow I need to get up early, but I keep my fingers crossed for Jake and Anne.

I never heard about those power bracelets. I don't believe they work, but it looks like they are in fashion among celebrities.

On that Art of Elysium Heaven Gala was also Kirsten Dunst. I wonder if she and Jake had a chance to meet and talk. I didn't see any pictures of them together.

@Mermon, Ha,ha. No I haven't met any. ;o). But it is funny, you heard the news before I did. I had no idea we were invaded by snails. The bad thing is that this type are not edible. Not my plate, but it's a plate for some compatriots here. ;o)
Oh, oh, No Globes for LAOD. I watched LAOD last Friday and I enjoyed it very much. :o)
