Berlin Part 2! The Source Code screening with Jake Gyllenhaal and Duncan Jones, and a WDW Berlin Interlude

It is a truth universally acknowledged that you can't see Jake Gyllenhaal everyday. Nevertheless, I'm quite prepared this evening to ignore that the globe has spun on since yesterday and so I'll post here all of my photos of Jake from last night in Berlin (I may have some other images when I'm back home with video tecchie stuff). I know there are other bits and pieces to post but I'm sure you won't mind that those will wait til Sunday when I'm back. I'm also hoping to have more pictures from Berlin. And because I know you're too polite to complain, this post will also contain a WDW Interlude from Berlin. No Jake today so I've been seeking solace in culture.

But without any more ado, here are all my pictures from Berlin last night. I think you'll agree that Jake was gorgeous, and caring and warm and lovely with it. I'm posting these in the order in which they were taken. It is true that there were nerves and hearts leapt into mouths and it is true that breaths were missed. But you know what I mean... I will, however, omit my photo which seemed to capture only Jake's forehead, fine as it may be. By the way, did I mention Jake Gyllenhaal held my hand last night? I'm getting ready to sacrifice it for the mantelpiece.

I'm beyond thrilled that Mrs JG got a photo of Jake and me together so I can't wait to get that and post it. There will be some other things too, not to mention more goodies from Madrid.

Berlin

One of the many things I love about Jake is that he's a wonderful excuse to explore the world. This time, Berlin. I'm a sucker for history, as you know, and so today I took refuge from an incredibly windy day (there were times when I wanted to lie flat on the pavement) in a bunch of museums, notably the Neues and the Pergamon. This meant I fulfilled a lifelong ambition to see the Nerfertiti bust. It was oceans more beautiful than pictures can capture (which is fortunate as it's the one thing they don't let you take pictures of) and I swear I had a little moment. I had another when I walked into the Pergamon Museum and saw first the Pergamon temple front and then the Milet temple. I think this was particularly significant for me because I spent some time in Turkey years ago and visited both these towns (or the ruins thereof) and suddenly I had context for these wonders. And then there were the Ashti Gates...

Although a museum image, this is what today was all about.

So back home tomorrow night! Images from WDW (except for Nefertiti). If you use please link back to WDW - danke schon!

WDW, I love Jake more than it is healthy to love someone I never met, and don't know, and I'm thrilled to pieces to be living thru your wonderful adventures...

But I'm also beyond delighted with the interlude pictures from the museums. I love historical things. I had no idea all this was in Berlin.

Hi Snow! Can't wait to get that pic :) Thank you! My flight's in the evening tomorrow so lots of time for beer and more of Berlin's gorgeous puddings :D

Thank you so much 21:14! That's such a nice thing to say. I love Jake to pieces but I'm so thrilled that he gives me the perfect excuse to see things I've alwats wanted to see. The museums in Berlin are sensational and today one of my life's ambitions was fulfilled. And it was even better than expected. How great is that?! I'm now spurred on to visit more places this year. This is what doing this blog and following Jake's movies has done for me :)

Thank you very much for the photos, all of them! I'm glad that you were able to fulfill a dream of yours. :) Berlin really is a truly historical city with lots and lots of exciting things to see!

More photos that I can drool on now... How great! :D

Btw: I just became a member of the WDW forum (Missy's my username!), just so you know!

Fab! Thanks for joining Missy Ayda! If you have any pics, can you email them to me? And you are so right about Berlin :)

I'm watching Zodiak on TV right now. The music is great and Jake is so yummy here! So far I like it more, than I used to.

WDW - so you had double or even triple joy! Seeing Jake, Duncan, Rodene and SC again, then Girls and finally - Berlin! Great that you had time for visiting.

Thank you for the pictures.

Wow! Jake and new friends and museums and lifelong dreams fulfilled!! Thank you so much for sharing it all. I can't believe you've seen the Nefertiti bust in person and held hands with Jake! That's too incredible for words, and yet you have articulated it all so well. Can't wait for the rest of the goodies. Will you be seeing (or rendezvousing?) with Jake when the Source Code tour reaches London?

Just wanted to say a big thank you WDW for your coverage of Berlin.

It was like being there.

Loved the Berlin history and art photos.

Cheers

Hi Mermon! Ooh, the Zodiac soundtrack is my favourite. I remember when the film came out I played nothing else for two months! And it's been a pleasure :)

Thank you so much, Susan! It's all just incredible - and thank you for saying that. I'll miss the SC London visit, although I don't know yet if Jake is part of it. I hope so for all those I know who are going to the screenings tonight and tomorrow. But personally, I'm so grateful for what I've been given :) When I tell my dad I've seen the Nefertiti bust he will leap through the roof! And that with Jake holding my hand - well... that'll do me :)

Thank you so much, Tui! Posting at the same time :)

wonderful pics, WDW. Jake looks adorable (when doesn't he) and I have a feeling his friendship with Duncan is going to last beyond this press junket. They seem to get along so well. And Jake can't sing Duncan's praises enough and visa versa.

I am going to try to see the movie again next week

Morning everyone! Thank you for lliking the pics, including the non-Jake ones. So hello to Sweetpea, Georgie and Ayda!

And a special thanks to Ayda for sending me the pics - I would love to post them, would that be ok?

Time to check out, find coffee and relax for a few hours before flying home. Which will be a pleasure as Jake's on the cover of the inflight magazine... Tomorrow will be catch up time :)

Have a lovely Saturday!

Oh yes, Jake wasn't in London last night but it sounds like the Q&A with Duncan went well. Another one tonight too.

Good Morning!
There are rumours, that Jake is in Iceland. It's a kind of snowboard and music festival there. They write about him on Iceland's sites.

jake is in iceland to film an episode the bear grylls show i believe he flew to iceland with bear and has been seen with him over there

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hello everyone! I'm home! And totally cream crackered. Can barely move my eyelids... Thanks for such lovely comments! And that's fantastic about Iceland and Bear Grylls. Although I was hoping they'd be doing one of the desert ones together - ahem... But Iceland is beautiful. I saw tweets last night that mentioned Jake was there. I wonder if Jake was thinking about all this when he had the Arctic and polar bears on his mind last December.

Thanks for sharing in my Berlin adventure! Lots of stuff to post so I'll get on with that tomorrow. As for tonight, I'm an amoeba..

Good Morning!
I hope, Kate, that you rested well after all that German excitement.

We have fresh words from Duncan on his blog, about Rome, Berlin and London, very funny.

@ManMadeMoon Duncan Jones
"Just realized that tonight's Q&A was my last bit of Source Code business... LA tomorrow. Time to start nailing down film number 3!"
about 7 hours ago via TweetDeck

So that's it! The end of promotion time. Now SC is in our, viewers hands.

So Jake doesn't loose his time. He's already started to turn Bear Grylls staff? Looks like he's very busy lately. SC promotion, Bear Grylls programme and new film EoW to make!
Have a nice Sunday!

Morning everyone,
good to hear you had a safe fly back to Britain, Kate. I arrived at home last night, too. Still feeling like being in a dream :-)
It was just incredible to see Jake and Duncan so nearby as we did in Berlin.
I will send you my photos later although they are not as good as yours are, Kate.
Have a nice day all of you :-)

There are other interesting Musems in Berlin.

The first natural museum in the world...MUSEUM FUR NATURKUNDE.

In the galleries this museum even has a Condor who lives in USA and it was extinguished etc...

The are also the DEUTSCHES TECHNIKMUSEUM...

Hello everyone! I seem to have missed the morning catching up on some sleep.

Morning Mermon! I loved Duncan's blog post today :)

Hello Christina! It was so so good to meet you. I think there were about 8 of us in the end - isn't that amazing?! What a night... I can't wait to see your pics!

hello 10:07 - there certainly are, and I liked how they are so close together in Berlin. I hope at some time I have the time to visit the others as well :)

Have a lovely Sunday everyone. Blimey, Oxford is sunny and HOT!

Ayda said...

Christina, would you mind sending me your pics, too? Or would it be okay if maybe Kate would forward them to me (she should have my addy now). :)

Aww, I wanna be in Oxford now, though Cologne's very sunny and hot, too. :D

Hey Kate,

Glad you got back home safe, if not a little bleary eyed and your mind was like a wet noodle :P

I like watching Bear's show, he is a very interesting man. I hope he and Jake have a lot of fun working together and maybe they learn something from each other. Jake on how to survive eating nothing but snow :D and Bear learns how to cook it from Jake (maybe Jake can write a cookbook from his experience)

It was wonderful to get to know Duncan. SC certainly put him on the map, and it couldn't hurt to have Jake saying such nice things about him too. I do hope they work together again in the future. I know they are going to remain friends(Just the vibe I got) I wonder if this new film is from that script he wanted Jake to look at BEFORE Jake threw SC at him :D

have a great Day everyone
