[Updated] *Emergency Post!* Trailer video for Jake Gyllenhaal's Man Vs Wild with Bear Grylls

With less than two weeks to go before the show airs, today we have a taster of Jake Gyllenhaal's appearance on Man Vs Wild courtesy of the trailer. We're talking gales, high heights, dismembered beasts, tumbles, humour and hotness (despite the extreme cold temperatures). There's even a nice grammatical touch before the end... Whatever the elements can throw at him, you can always admire Jake for his attention to detail.

Updated to add some screencaps from the trailer, plus a better version of the video above.

Thanks to Monica for the heads up!

Wow! Excellent! Perfect!
Thank you Kate and Monica for that. It's very exciting and promising. What kind of animal it was? I hope they bake it before eating :).
I like the shelter in the snow cave. And Jake hanging on the horizontal rope, being afraid of the height - certainly worth to watch.
Those jacets look great on them, especially the red one :).

"Lowercase or uppercase?" HA! Extreme hotness AND attention to detail - that's my kind of man!!

Thanks so much for the emergency post! I no longer need caffeine to get me through the rest of the day!

Thanks Mermon! It's fab, isn't it?! That looked like a reindeer - tasty... That must have been difficult for Jake on the rope. I posted that account of how Jake had been frightened as a child to climb the Eiffel Tower - he's definitely overcome his fears. It looks a tad chilly but Bear and Jake look great!

My pleasure, Susan! I LOVED that line :D

Thanks WDW for the video and putting it up so quickly. I hope it airs the same time over here as it will in the US. I loved watching Will Ferrell do his thing with Bear so I'm hoping for more of the same with Jake. I wonder if this was his "swimming with Walruses" birthday surprise that he promised himself for his 30th. His 30s are heating up already.

Oh and congratulations Kate on your award, whatever it was you definitely deserved it :D

I am so sad for Federer :( Comon Murray!!

Thanks Sheba! I've just replaced the video with a better version. Really.... hot! I think this was the 'swimming with walruses'.

And thank you!

I'm a fan of Federer but Tsonga was just incredible :)

Thanks WDW and Monica.
That's one great sneak peek for the show, so excited for the show, hope we all will be able to watch it as soon as possible.
Love Jake's expression at the end of the trailer, and the jacket sure looked hot on him :D
Thanks for the posts WDW!!!

It's brilliant, isn't it, Serene! And I do love those coats...

I've updated the post with a set of screencaps from the trailer :)

Its a good thing that boy is pretty and the same for Jake.

Its like he does this sort of thing every weekend, who asks "where did you get your hat" when you are about to do God's knows what and your biggest obstacle is Mother Nature.

WOW Jake braved the elements. He looks like he fell into something. I got worried there for a min. I have to wonder if that is a reindeer carcass and if Jake uses his chef skills to impress Bear :D

thanks WDW

It was a pleasant surprise to see this video online this morning. Jake looks so proud and happy. I think he was having a great time.

Thanks you so much for the update.
I only saw it without sound, I'll need to watch it again at home, but Jake and Bear seamed to have fun.
Looks like a reindeer to me too. Those actually taste very good. Although I am not sure I could eat meat if I had to kill it myself.

Aargh I just spent ages writing a comment and then Blogger went down - and right after I had no internet last night either as that went down! I'm cursed...

So....thanks to you all for the comments!

He is so cool, 22:43 :)

Hi Sweetpea - that reindeer's gonna take a lot of skill...

I'm really looking forward to this one, Monica :) It's contagious seeing Jake in his element like this, having so much fun.

Morning Mrs JG! I hope you can see it with the sound soon, it's very funny. I'm a veggie so reindeer isn't generally on my menu but I've gotta say, if it were, this particular reindeer doesn't look especially tasty. It'll need a lot of herbs and chilli sauce.

Busy day today - garden parties to etc. Please don't rain... Have a good day!

Now, will this comment post...?

Hello folks!

I think I played this vid 20 times already...he's absolutely gorgeous and he's having so much fun, I'm glad for him!

I think I'll see it again to start my morning in the most perfect way!!

Thanks Kate and Monica for sharing with us!

Have a good day, y'all!

I just love the video!

Though can someone please explain the word play about the letter H at the end?
English is not my native language so I don't understand the joke :-(

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi JuliaEnnis! The perfect way to start the day :)

Hi there Linda! The capital H is the symbol on the ground for a helicopter landing. Jake was just joking if he should do a lower case h or a capital H when it was obvious it should be a big one :) Glad you liked the video!

Linda said...

Oh of course it's a simple as that, thanks WDW...sure had very blonde moment there, I thought the H was for help or something LOL

Wow !!!
Great post and wonderful vid. Thanks Kate and Monica :-)
I just came back from my holidays and I am running through the last posts.
They are lightening up the fact that holidays ended much too soon.
@ Kate: seems you had some nice camping days. I am glad you survived :-)
@ Mrs. JG: hope your son gets well soon
Have a nice evening everyone
Christina

@MrsJakobGyllenhaal - I also hope, that your kids will be all right. I think, it's common for the children living under one roof to get sick together.

Thank you Kate for some of the translation.
I couldn't understand everything from the trailer.
"Lowercase or uppercase" - sounds so funny and something about having balls in the throat :)
Same on Jake. Always joking, even in stressful situations. Making hard things lighter :).

Margot said...

When was this actually taped again? Around Jake's birthday?

Unknown said...

@Margot: no, middle of april, right after he was in Europe for the Source Code promotion.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning everyone!

Good to see you back, Christina :)

I love how Jake can joke whatever the circumstances, Mermon! It also makes for excellent TV.

Indeed, Mrs JG - the week after we saw him :)

Have a good day everyone! Friday :D

@ WDW: I wish they did a premiere for "Man vs. Wild" and invited all the Gyllengirls to see it with Jake!

Did your event yesterday go as planned?

Darling Bluebell said...

Ooooh fantastic!!!! *replays again and again and again* I couldn't wait for the work week to be over and come home to this fantastic teaser.
Bring it on! :-)

I wish they did a premiere for "Man vs. Wild" and invited all the Gyllengirls to see it with Jake!
What a lovely idea MrsJG. I wish they would! :)

My word is 'dahshing', which is exactly Jake + that little h joke in the teaser, haha!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

That would be fantastic, Mrs JG! And it did, thanks, I've felt worn out today so I'm looking forward to a rest this weekend. I hope your daughter's feeling better.

It is amazing, Lady Ekster! And congratulations on your week :)
