Hollywood Hills Cops - co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena out for a run before Jake braves the Green Lantern premiere

Yesterday, Jake Gyllenhaal and his End of Watch co-star Michael Pena took to the Hollywood Hills. What with this and the Kung Fu and Karate, it would appear that End of Watch isn't just about police officers filling in the paperwork. It also gives Jake and Michael a chance to get to know one another better and compare arms.

Bonus points for Jake who managed to run the miles while completely ignoring the alien trying to burst through his chest. That's what I call a pro and no mistake.

Talking of bravery and fortitude, later that evening (15 June), Jake was seen by a Facebooker at the Graumans Chinese Theater at the premiere of Peter Sarsgaard's movie Green Lantern: 'I just got a text from my sister that she's sitting three rows in front of Jake Gyllenhaal at the Green Lantern premier!' No sign of Jake on show, but here is Peter on the carpet which, missing a trick surely?, was black. Source. And more pictures here.

Pictures from links and IHJ.

Oh my word, if ever there were pictures of some delicious hotness, those first three photos have done it! Poor Michael Pena - he's not too bad looking himself, but he totally fades into the background in those pictures with Jake. Or is that just me? :)

I wonder what Jake thought of the Green Lantern? And Peter's role in it?

There was another person in those pictures with Jake? Let me check that....

... you're right, Susan. Thanks for pointing that out. Amazing what a smile can do for the face pet!

The smile on the first picture is so funny, a bit like a fake one. Starting promotion of the movie, before starting to make a movie yet? :)
I like to see him smiling to the photo reporters, for a change.
I think they both look great. Isn't that nice they hang out together. Sporting is a good way to get to know each other.
Oh, it gets exciting, I bet we will have more news since now on.

Peter in that video looks so calm and quite. I like him even more now. He has a nice smile too.

Great to see Michael Pena and Jake together. His face seems familiar though. At first I thought it was Anthony Vargas from Jarhead but I believe isn't he the one that worked with Maggie in that September 11 movie? I think he played her husband.

I wish Peter every success for Green Lantern. I'm going to see it next Wednesday with my son. I was watching E! today and Peter says he hopes Ramona never sees the movie as he never wants her to see her dad like that or to ever have a memory of him looking like that. Can you imagine the poor wee lass at 18 trying to sneak a DVD or whatever it will be by then to her room. I suspect cool Uncle Jake would do the sneaking for her :)

Hello everyone! Just back from a lovely motorbike ride out into the country - yep, sun.

Hi Susan! I know! Michael Pena is fine but.... where is he? As for Green lantern, I'm sure Jake will be very polite :D

The smile is lovely, Mrs JG! I know it's a fake one but I'll take it.

It's a great way for them to get to know one another, Mermon! And it does all help to plug the movie too. Peter has a beautiful smile.

Hey Sheba! Yep, Pena was Maggie's husband in World Trade Center. Hollywood is a small world. That's interesting to hear that about GL - but I bet Ramona will love seeing her dad in it, whatever the size of his mutant GL head! I'm going to see it this weekend, but I don't have high hopes. But never mind...

I hope you're all having a good day - Friday tomorrow :)

Compare arms? What do you mean compare? It just takes one glance: Jake for president!

Bonus points for Jake who managed to run the miles while completely ignoring the alien trying to burst through his chest. That made me laugh out loud WDW, thank you :-D

Lovely ladies, might I suggest you all take a look at the Movie section of the forum? We are trying to set up a virtual GyllenGal weekend somewhere this summer. YES, really! :)

Jake looks hot in red. I wonder how many miles he runs. Michael looked like he was having some problems keeping up with Jake (at least that is what it looked like to me)

congrats to Peter on Green Lantern

Good morning everyone! Friday!

Hi Sweetpea :) It does look like Michael was struggling to keep up - Jake is so speedy!

Have a good day everyone :D

The beginning of this interview is Jake kidding around, but then he does state how much he likes/prefers to run.

Hi everyone, back again here...
Wow...I love the pics, Jake's looking so sexy and hot and certainly warming my cold and lonely room here ;)
Good to see them get to know each other, but, yeah, Michael Pena looks ...( can't find the word to describe), maybe it's the dull shirt, compared to Jake's burning red one...:p
Peter looked quite skinny in the vid, but I like the peaceful look he had, always love Peter's smile.
Thanks for the posts WDW!!! So glad to be back :D

What a great interview it was! Thank you, Leslie for that.
I think, I've watched it, but it's much more understandable if you read it.

Hi Leslie - that was indeed a good interview :) The video of it should be on the site somewhere.

Great to see you back, Serene Hill! Yep, it's difficult to look at Michael with Jake next to him (in red and with arms no less!).

Hi Mermon :)

I've got food poisoning unfortunately so I'll be keeping a low profile tonight but hopefully fighting fit for tomorrow!

mermon said...

Oh, Kate! Poor you. It's not pleasant at all. I hope you didn't eat any sprouts! :)

WDW I am sorry to hear you have food poisoning. I've gone through that hell myself. I hope you feel better soon

Thanks so much, Mermon and Sweetpea! That's really kind of you. I'm in bed and had a nap but feeling more human now so hopefully I'll be fine in the morning. I don't think it was sprouts - gulp - but I did have some lettuce. Avoid veg at all costs! Chocolate is much better for you :)

Waching the Graham Norton Show (which I hate) as Bear Grylls was on it (looking lovely and rather lost sandwiched between two very loud ladies). He did mention Jake and they showed a picture of him and Bear talked about the extreme weather and how Bear couldn't guarantee Jake's safety. They were like tumbleweeds, he said. Anyway, could to see the plug for his Jake show.

Look what I found - http://pictures.metro.co.uk/CameronDiaz

I'm watching some fragments from Graham Norton show with BearGrylls on youtube, but so far, nothing about Jake.

Bear Grylls: just done Jimmy Kimmel chat show in LA - tried to light a fire under his desk... successfully, I might add! Airs July 18, & new MVW July 11.

Maybe he was talking about Jake as well then.

I saw "Green Lantern" yesterday and enjoyed it a lot. Some superhero movies are all over the map and confusing, but this one dared to be fairly simple and focussed. Plus, Ryan Reynolds is perfect for the title role. He shows a wide range of emotions, and is believable in all of them. He pulls everything together.

"Green Lantern" is as great as "Green Hornet" was terrible. ;-)

I went in without having looked up the cast members. I didn't catch the opening screen credits. All I knew was that Ryan Reynolds was the star. Then I kept wondering who the mild-mannered scientist was. Gary Oldman? It never crossed my mind that it was Peter Sarsgaard. He always disappears into whatever character he is playing. He's going to have a long, long acting career...

When Ramona is in her teens, I'm sure she'll be able to handle the sight of her father with a Frankensteinian face.

Hello everyone! Much better today - thanks for the well wishes :)

Hi Mermon :) It looks like more info is coming out about the Man Vs Wild film to coincide with Bear's book, so that's good news! That's a lovely picture, I'd not seen that before. Thanks for the link :)

Hey Paul! I saw Green Lantern today as well and after so many people I know disliked it I was amazed that I quite liked it! And I thought Peter was wonderful in it. The best part of it - what an actor. I think Ramona will enjoy it very much.
