Jake Gyllenhaal on the gun range for End of Watch and taking it easy in Hawaii

I'm back! I have survived four nights in a tent no bigger than a postage stamp, in terrain so treacherous that at one point I heard a mouse rustle. Summer days were hot but one night I sat on my camp chair (new and with a beer bottle holder), shivering despite the weight of four jumpers. Fortunately, the beauty of Dorset, Devon and Cornwall (not to mention its cream teas and ice creams) was enough to sustain even the most fearsome of campers. Now I'm back, I see I have quite a bit to catch up on. While I do so, here are a few of my favourite photos from the last few days, thanks to IHJ.

On 25 July, Jake was seen at a private gun range in LA along with End of Watch co-star Michael Pena.

This followed a brief but no doubt packed weekend in Hawaii for father Stephen's wedding. It wasn't all formal though. There was a chance for Jake and Maggie to unwind together in those beautiful warm seas.

Back shortly and, I fear, there will be an Interlude...

Hey, everybody! It's so quite here.
So much is going on in Jake's life lately, that few days break and so many news.
I absolutely like those pictures from the fire range. Jake is so amusing and attracted to the shooting. And look at his pose, how grateful he is.
Pictures from Hawaii with Maggie are beautiful, but Jake somehow is not happy on them, maybe because of the paparazzi, interfering with their privacy. As we may see they have a lot to talk about.
Have a nice Sunday. In Poland still rains.

Looking forward to your interlude! Hope you stopped by the Hardy cottage!

Jake with a rifle reminds me of Jarhead. Will watch it tonight.

Welcome back WDW! :-)

The new pictures are stunning. Bad-ass cop on the one hand and half-naked beach boy on the other... phew! :-) Let's hope this has given my body enough adrenaline to shake off that nasty cold that's been keeping me quiet this week. It's summer, for peep's sake, not autumn! *mutter*

Anyway, looking forward to the Interlude, Kate. :)

Hi Mermon! It's good to see you again :) I love that picture of Jake putting the sunglasses on the target! Sorry to hear it's still raining :(

Hi there 15:23 :) It reminds me of Jarhead too! We didn't visit the Hardy Cottage - there is just so much to see in the west country - not a hope of seeing a fraction in four days. But can't wait to go back. It's hard to imagine anywhere more beautiful.

Thanks Monica! It's very nice to be back :)

Thanks Lady Ekster! Sorry to hear about your cold :( I hope the pics do the trick.

Thanks for the kind words - an Interlude is on its way!

Hi Kate! It's great to see you again! I hope you had interesting time, despite that treacherous terrain. I use to like tent camping a lot when I was a bit younger. Now I need to feel more comfortable. Still remember cold, wet nights in the tent. But watching stars was lovely. I was rushing with my first post and I forgot to mention that photo with sunglasses on the target. I saw all those pics before and I haven't notice those glasses at all, just only in your post. I think it's pretty funny. Looking forward to your interlude, maybe we will see your tent? :)

Thanks Mermon! I rather like my home comforts but it does make it a lot cheaper and because the weather was so hot and sunny, it was light until nearly 10.

I love that picture!

I've been writing my Super 8 review tonight - at last the embargo is lifted - so hopefully I can do a link to that soon.

I'm glad to hear you survived the wild (more dangerous than Jake's adventure with Bear? well just the mention of the mouse says it all :D)

I wish that Jake and Maggie had been able to get some private moments (but on the other hand we got some naked chest shots, so I guess this is just another sacrifice Jake had to make)

I hope you have a great Sun

I completly agree with Lady X on her comment. That's the nicest combination of Jake pics possible. He's in really good shape right now, but then again, when was he not?
Looking forward to your interlude!
