A perfect day in NYC and Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard in Rome for Hysteria

Let's start with a test: What makes a good day? Winning a tenner (or more) on the lottery? Getting nuzzled by your favourite cat? Sunshine dappling through your curtains and bathing you in unseasonable warmth? A big bowl of hot veggie chilli? Or seeing Jake Gyllenhaal standing opposite you on a train in NYC while reading a script and looking ultra lovely in a white t-shirt? No prizes for guessing which one this lucky blogger Rachel went for. Read her post here. And what a great picture! Rather peculiarly, this event didn't seem to make the day for the chap on the right. Mind you, a Jake Gyllenhaal encounter is best appreciated when you're conscious.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Maggie took Hysteria to the Rome International Film Festival. If there's one thing better than Maggie on the red carpet, it's Maggie and Peter Sarsgaard on the red carpet, resulting in one of my favourite photos of the year, here via Just Jared.

Please note how I'm not mentioning Rupert Everett's jumper.

I saw Maggie's pics on the net yesterday. Maybe's its the dress but her face seemed a little plump, I was thinking she might be expecting (baby). Her eyes were radiant.

Hello Uncle Jakey???????? I must admit to having thought the same thing over recent days but time will tell! Maggie does indeed look beautiful :)

I also thought the same about Maggie!
There were some tweets about Jake taking care of Ramona at that Rome time. They were in the subway together. If the tweets said the truth.

Can you, Gyllenhaalics, imagine yourself falling asleep in the train and finding later in the net your photo next to your favourite actor, standing next to you?! I would kill myself missing my chance! But that guy doesn't look like he cared. :)

Hi Mermon! The idea of being on a train with Jake and sleeping through it! This makes a strong case for coffee on trains...

I keep saying why wasn't Jake ever on any of the trains/subways I've been on, sniff, not fair!

I wonder what Script he is reading, I hope we find out what project soon.

Maggie looks great, it is hard to see if she's got a bun in the oven yet. In one shot she doesn't look like she is pregnant but the blue/black dress is loose fitting so you can't tell. The white dress has a waistline that you can't tell either.

I guess we'll find out sooner or later if Ramona is going to have a sibling

Hi Sweetpea! I know, Jake should be on all our trains! It is indeed difficult to tell. I've had an impression that something may be afoot for a couple of weeks but, as you say, it may all be due to waistlines :)

Yes, being in NYC and knowing Jake is in the city, having coffee before taking train would be very wise. And having a lady, taking photo in front of us would be a great opportunity to have a picture with Jake. I would grin as wide as I could.

I wish the girl that took the pic had zoom in on that script( I know that's kind of sick, sorry).

Go for it, Maggie!

The FIRST thing I thought was "Maggie looks pregnant!!"

I hope she is, that would be exciting!

If not though, she looks beautiful anyways.

Well damn, I hope Jake is not one of his favorite actors, poor guy. Me? I'd kill myself for sure. Jake looks gorgeous, but that's no surprise. I missed my chance to see Maggie and Peter here (I live in Rome as you know) but I think I would have said something stupid about Jake and that would have been so NOT cool I couldn't risk it :-)

Thanks for the post and the pictures!

I love Maggie and Peter together, they're one of my favourite celebrity couples - so I'd be happy if she turns out to be pregnant!

Why was Jake not in NYC when I was? *sigh*

Hello everyone! Back at work and keeping up my soup levels :(

I wonder what it is, Paula!

Hi Margot! Glad to hear it's not just me :)

Hey there Jules! Ooh that would be awkward but very tempting... Lovely avatar pic you have there :)

Hi there Ayda! Good to see you back! I love Peter and Maggie too - they both look so great right now. Good to see them together on the red carpet. That is indeed typical about NYC... ;)

Have a good day everyone!

Night everyone! Dead chuffed at being retweeted by Duncan Jones today. I'm also glad to report I'm feeling more human. Have a good night all :)

We have a holiday in Poland. All Saints Day. We visit our family members and friends graves. We don't work on that day. Beautiful weather.

Kate, I'm happy for you're feeling better.

Jake Gyllenhaal is good but he should let his hair grow and cut in the style of the English court.

So I had to look up what "dead chuffed" means (adding more to my English English lexicon every day!). It has nothing to do with being annoyed, which for reasons unknown was my firt guess, which makes no sense as it should be a great thing to be retweeted by Duncan Jones. And it is. Congrats, Kate!

But now I'm at a total loss again as I have no idea what Anon 17:54 means by suggesting that Jake should wear his hair in the "style of the English court." One of those powdered wig things? Ewwwwww....

Those of us who are frequently on the Forum have already unanimously decided that Jake should never, ever, wear a wig!

Hello everyone! Such a busy day but I'm glad to say I'm so much better. Definitely almost human again!

I hope you had a good day off, Mermon! Glad you had the sun for it :)

Thanks, Susan! Ooh and glad to keep the phrases coming. Oh and most definitely agreeing with you about the wig - still remember that horrible Proof wig...

And you are not alone, I've not got an inkling of what 'style of the English court means'! The Prince Charles look?

The English style of haircut is to leave over the head with more hair and cut close to the hair from the middle. In the film Brookback Mountains he was with hair like that.
This style of haircut he has now seems to want to ride away from a Concentration Camp in World War II or a Prison for Criminals from the USA ..... or had lice and cut his hair because the lice eggs placed in the scalp.
