Jake Gyllenhaal in Berlin Day 1! - roundup, photos, video and links

Jake Gyllenhaal received quite a welcome when he landed at Berlin's Tegal airport yesterday. Not only were there lots of fans and reporters, but also the Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick was on hand to greet his juryman with a bunch of flowers and an embrace, resulting in some wonderful photos, here via the lovely IHJ.

Jake's arrival was also caught on video.

Details have emerged about the work of the jury during the festival and it begins tomorrow morning (9 February) at 10.30 Germany time with their photo call and press conference. It looks as if we'll be able to see videos here and listen to audio here. There's a general round up of what the jury can look forward to here. Without wasting anytime, though, the jury has already gathered for a photo. Just take a look at Jake! The movie star is most definitely back. As always, click and the photo will be embiggened.

Many thanks to IHJ, Monica and BBMISwear.

What a good day! All this does put a smile on my face :) If anyone hears or sees anything do post a link.

And good luck to Christina!

There is nothing that screams "STAR" like an all black outfit and a clean shaven face.

I love that picture. Jake looks like a million bucks, especially compared to the others. Obviously it's still the rule to dress out of garbage bags if you want to look artsy.
He may dress like a "wood gnome" (as the German magazine "GALA" put it in their online edition)on his private time, but he sure knows how to dress on the job.

Very looking forward to the coming days.

He really really is, Mrs JG! I'm so proud of him. And I really hope it inspires him to go back an make a ton of movies.

It's so good that we have a video of Jake's arrival! I wonder if Festival Director welcomed all of the Jury members with the flowers. It was nice of him, though unusual. I bet there were the first flowers Jake received from a man.
So all the Jury is on place already. Great picture of them. Jake looks very elegant as always in suit.
I'm so mad I will work until late tomorrow, so no chance to see a press conference at 10:30. Little chance to see evening programme at 17:45 on ZDF TV report about Jake Gyllenhaal at the opening of the Berlinale as Sasha informed on Twitter. I just hope someone will post it on the net.
Anyway we have an evening in Europe and Jake has an evening as well. Nice feeling :))

My pleasure 20:00 - grateful to Monica for uploading it :)

Hi Mermon! I won't be able to see them live either, but hopefully the recordings will be kept on the Berlinale site. Might be time to brush up my German! I hope Jake has a good evening in Berlin - what a lovely city :)

When I saw his picture that comes with that baggage and green pants, I was "worried" about what he would use these next 10 days of the festival, but now I see that he knows what he does, is more beautiful than the day of Oscar

Yeah!!! I knew I was right to visit the blog just before bedtime... ;-) And there had to be a reason for him to deboard the plane so clean shaven, haha. Looking good, gorgeous!

I do have ZDF on my cable network, but I won't be home yet by 17:45. Let's see if will be put online later...
For now: sweet dreams all! :)

Morning Daniela, Lady Ekster and BBMISwear!

More snow comin...

So sweet to give him flowers...but it's the typical type of bouquet they usually give to princesses or queens when visiting LOL.
Bet Jake found it funny too, oh well it's the thought that counts as they say ;-)

Deiter has been doing this for years to everyone. It's part of the tradition of the Festival, this being Jake's very first visit to them.

I made the mistake of glancing at the photo call and press conference video at a time I'm running out the door and don't have 54 minutes to sit and watch because it was just a tease and now I want to stay in front of my computer! Jake was Lookin' Good and I'm looking forward to later today/tonight when I have time to sit and enjoy viewing it all.

Here's to more great stuff to come from Berlin (I love that they include these videos so quickly on their website).

Back later...

:-)

Hi,
I just watched the jury press conference video.
I will say only that I feel ashamed for the question the Boston Herald reporter asked Jake. :o( He should be proud a compatriot is part of an international jury.
As my hubby said, why bother have some one make so many kilometers and pay his expenses to ask that $%&# question? He should be fired...Ha,ha.

Other than that, I think it must be really exciting for Jake to be part of it. And to exchange the ideas they have around the film making and about the films presented. Have fun Jake!
Waiting for your latest post WDW!

I think Jake handled that awkward question very aptly by deferring it to the jury president, but you could see he was pissed. I think it was a very inappropriate question to be asking.

I hope the rest of the festival goes more smoothly and Jake has a great time

Have you noticed that smirk on Jake's face and a shake of his head when some reporter called him "Jake! Baby!"? LOL!

I diddn't see it as a dig at Brokeback - the guy was saying BBM was the exception - but it was a dig at Jake for not being a European actoooor. What a prat. Jake handled it well.

Doing new post now :)
