Jake Gyllenhaal to present at Sunday's Tony's and a WDW London Interlude

If There Is.... might not have qualified for consideration for the prestigious Tony Awards, it being off Broadway and all, but that won't stop Jake Gyllenhaal from making an appearance! Jake has been announced as one of the award presenters along with a veritable array of stars from stage and screen. One could mention Zachary Quinto and Sigourney Weaver, for example. Also there will be Jake's End of Watch co-star Anna Kendrick. All in all a fun, starry event. More details here.

Thanks to IHJ for the photo from If There Is...

WDW London Interlude

Summer arrived this week and so I took a day off to head up to London, the City in particular. The main purpose was to revisit the Temple Church, an extraordinary 12th-century church, built by and for the Knights Templar. Interred within is perhaps the most famous of all medieval knights, William Marshal (the left effigy in the third photo below, that is his son William on the right). This is a figure who has fascinated me all my life and the visit was inspired by reading two novels about the Marshal which I reviewed for For Winter Nights. The church is round because it is modelled on the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, reaching which was the glorious ambition of these knights.

Otherwise, the day was filled with a long walk along both sides of the River, taking in the evolving architecture of the City of London.

London through the ages!

Hi everyone! It will be good to see Jake in public again - hopefully there'll be video and photos. Sorry for the long Interlude - London was too beautiful not for me to get carried away :) Have a lovely evening! Is it Friday yet...?

Love the interlude WDW!!! William Marshal was a fascinating figure if I remember him correctly. During the time of Richard the Lionheart, and John? Temple Church does look like photos of the Temple mount church in Old Jerusalem.

What? No photos of Borough Market? Next time, you must go to Southwark for all of us who can't, and get something wonderful to eat!
And take lots and lots of pictures.

Meant to add that I also put Marshal with Henry II and his other son, who opposed his father. Was it Harold or Henry III? My history is a bit fuzzy.

Before The Tonys on Sunday Jake will present another award on Saturday.
From Gyllenbabble:
New news: TV by the Numbers says Jake will be a presenter at Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards:

"The 2013 “Guys Choice” Awards tapes Saturday, June 8 at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA, and premieres Wednesday, June 12 at 9:00 PM, ET/PT on Spike TV. The network has also confirmed that Jennifer Aniston will be on hand to present Jimmy Kimmel with this year’s “Funniest M.F.” Additionally, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Alba, Snoop Lion, Randy Couture, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Jon Taffer will be on hand to present at this year’s event."

Thanks 21:55! That's very kind of you! That's right - Marshal served Henry II and his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine as well as their sons Henry the Young King and Richard the Lionheart. He did serve John but that was tempestuous! He was regent to John's son Henry III during his last year's. An amazing character!

We did go to Borough but I was too busy scoffing pastries to take photos! I love it there! We went back in the evening when people were spilling out of the pubs onto the pavements. Love that in London :) Thank you so much for the comments!

Thanks, 22:13! That's excellent news! I hope we see some of that.

Lovely update! I am very much looking forward to seeing Jake present at the Tony's and the Guys Choice Awards (who even knew there was such a thing? Ha Ha)! 2 short bits on camera but we'll take it, right? Great bits from here and there keep popping up on IHJ which is nice (most recently when he was leaving Chateau Marmont - but why does he always wear that grey hoodie there - it's such a nice place)!

Kate, you seriously should work for a travel magazine - you take beautiful pictures and are a terrific writer. Put it together and that would be a perfect fit for you (and you could travel for free - hee hee)! Wonderful interlude!

Boston Bruins Win Eastern Conference Championship and now on to the Stanley Cup - Whooowhee! (I know very few people will get this but just had to say it)! :-)

Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone! I hope you've all had/having a good weekend.

Hi Amanda! It was indeed, which is actually a shame because the little barriers went up around the effigies as a result. Over zealous film buffs :(

Thanks so much, BBMISwear :-) I do love leaving a trail a photos. I saw those pics - I know he's always so low key at these places. Congratulations to Boston for the sporting success! That's nothing to do with cricket, then....

New post for the pics from the Guys Choice awards :)
