Prisoners opens in the US today so if you're over there, do go and see it! Updated to add more JG on the box!
Some good news, too. Jake is coming to London! He will be appearing at the London Apple Store on Monday evening along with Hugh Jackman and Denis Villeneuve. I'm very excited to say that I have a reservation. Needless to say a report to come!
Meanwhile here are some more videos - thank you IHJ!:
Inside the Actor's Studio
CNN's New Day
Queen Latifah Show (clips)
Jake Gyllenhaal has been busy - there's barely an American chat show that he's not appeared on. As the buzz for Prisoners escalates, it's clear that Jake is pulling out all the stops to make sure that everyone goes to see it when it opens in the US at the end of the week. Next week (27 September), Prisoners opens in the UK. One can only cross all one's extremities that the publicity train rolls up over here as well. But, while we wait for Actor's Studio and the Queen Latifah Show (both screened tomorrow, I believe), here is a batch of shows which have been graced and adorned by Jake over the last couple of days. Huge thanks must go to IHJ for being on top of all of this as they always are.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (17 September)
Live with Kelly and Michael (18 September)
Good Morning America (18 September)

Hello everyone! Such a pleasure to post these - thanks, Steph! I hope you're all having a good day. I'm off work with a bad back so noone make me laugh or sneeze, and that includes you, Jake :)
All these interviews are good. Despite circling around one subject - Prisoners - they are diverse and very entertaining. I'll add one more - Josh Horovitz MTV interview
Bedwetting, first kisses, & more
Thanks, Mermon! That video doesn't play in the UK and so I decided not to add it. But thanks for the link.
If anyone finds a version that DOES play in the UK, please post a link :)
Thanks Kate for putting together this marathon. Just what I needed before saying goodnight!
Thanks mermon, i could watch the vids.
Very looking forward for Prisoners.
Thanks for the vids! Just wanted to say that Jake's appearance on Queen Latifah will be on Friday. That's what the audience was told when I was there. I hate to say it but even though I was thrilled to see him in person, I think he was more entertaining on Kelly and Michael and the Good Morning America segment.
Thanks so much for the videos, guys.
The MTV interview did play for me, and I'm in The Netherlands!
Loved his reaction to the little video they showed him on GMA - 10 or 11-year-old Jake: an early preparation for Brokeback Mountain :-) Bless him.
Looking forward to seeing 'Prisoners' enormously, I must say.
And I can't wait to see him in the Actors Studio interview.
I've only discovered Jake last year, when I first saw BBM, so this is only the second time (after 'End of Watch') he's got a new film coming out and I actually feel like I'm more or less part of it. You know, all this publicity stuff... Love it!
I've seen all of his movies now, and as much as I liked seeing him when he was in his teens and early twenties, those early roles... I just think he's matured so much right now, both as a man and as an actor - and he's still only 32! It'll be fascinating to see what lies ahead for him.
I just hope he gets to play more roles like these - these intense roles really fit him like a glove, I think.
Here's to a bright future for Jake!
I saw Prisoners last nite (in Dubai) and it was phenomenal. Talk about having you on the edge of your seat! Hugh jackman was sensational in this role and Jake was absolutely fantastic. It's amazing how incredibly nuanced his work is getting. So many layers and yet so controlled. I totally understand the Oscar buzz that's surrounding both the movie and these terrific actors. Onward and upward Jake.
Hi everyone! I've just updated the post with more videos from some of the many TV appearances. There will be lots of catching up to do...
Also, the good news is that Jake is coming to London this weekend! I'm so thrilled to have got a reservation to see Jake and Hugh at the Apple Store in London on Monday. It's been two years since the last time I saw Jake, I'm very ready to see him again. And on home turf too.
Hi Eureka!
Thanks, Dani! I've posted a couple of little clips. I hope we can see the rest.
Hi Sonja - glad you could see the vid. That's great that you feel a part of it all - these are exciting times. It's been a while too.
That's fantasic, 9:36! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it and told us what you thought.
Have a good day everyone! If you're in the US, hopefully you're too busy seeing Prisoners to read the post!
Can somebody help me?
I tried my luck with the reservation for the event at Apple London and got it (I did not even know I had it, I just checked my account and it shows under my reservations now). It is Friday evening here and the event is on Monday after work so I cannot contact the Apple offices beforehand.
The thing is, I have no idea how this works. It says "register before event". Does this mean I have a place booked for me or does it not matter? In summary, I do not want to turn up there and find out it is a "free for all" event like a premiere... I am too old for that kind of stuff but if it is a seated event then I will go.
If somebody here can please help me, I would be most grateful.
Terrific that you will be seeing Jake again! Now that I have had a double dose of him I will not be satisfied until I see him again. That will be my mission next promotion time. :) Wish I could fly to London to see him with you.
Loved all the recent video clips. He was wonderful - and handsome - on Inside The Actor's Studio. I got choked up over the talk about Heath and BBM.
I will be seeing Prisoners tonight with the free tickets I got from Queen Latifah. Too bad they weren't for the actual premiere in LA.
Looking forward to your report.
Hi Laura! You've reserved a place, you just haven't reserved an actual seat. Noone can. So you need to turn up a bit in advance to make sure you get a seat and aren't standing up or at the back. I've not been to one of these store events before but I think as long as you've a reserved ticket (which is what I have too) you'll get in. It should all be fine :) I hope you have a wonderful time.
Ooh enjoy Prisoners, Dani! I'll be seeing it the weekend after this one when it's out. I wish you were in London to come with me too.
Lara, sorry for misspelling your name. I'm on my phone and I couldn't see the names. If you can get there an hour early, you should be fine for getting a good seat :)
Just saw Prisoners it was an edge of your seat thriller. Plenty of twists and turns. I didn't see it the ending coming. Hugh and Jake did a great job. I just wish the pacing had been quicker.

Thank you for the explanation! I do not mind seating at the back or standing up as long as I can get in :) I have been checking past events on youtube and they look like proper seated events (also, you can take pictures!). I do not know what I was expecting, I just cannot believe it was so easy, my friend could not get a reservation! I guess I was lucky. I keep checking the email from Apple just to make sure I did not dream it. Thank you again and I hope you enjoy your time at the event :)
That clip of the Actors Studio where he talked about Heath... it touched me. Bless you, Jake!
Have fun in London, guys! Wish I could be with you. Give Jake our love ;-)
I saw Prisoners last night with three friends who are not particular fans of Mr. Gyllenhaal. I loved it - of course - but even more important, all three of my friends did too! There were audible gasps and a few "OH NO's" scattered around the theater during the 2 1/2 hour film, and every one of them was perfectly justified.
Every review so far that calls this movie an intense, edge-of-your-seat thriller is absolutely spot-on. Brilliant, gripping, chilling, relentless, smart, creepy - it's all of those things and more.
Kate, you asked for a scariness rating. In my opinion it was equally as scary as Zodiac, though not for the same reasons. I couldn't help but think of Zodiac since Jake's Det. Loki is trying to solve the crime, but beyond that there is no similarity to the character of Robert Graysmith. The tone is different as well, as there is an intense sense of urgency to find the missing girls in Prisoners.
There are LOTS of clues and plot twists and red herrings along the way to the end of the movie, but it is possible to put them all together and have an idea of the ending before it comes on screen. HOWEVER, the story unfolds in such a way that you don't want to waste time trying to analyze what's on screen just to figure it out.
And then - the ending is brilliant and totally unexpected. All of the early Oscar buzz is more than deserved. I want to see it again this weekend!
Kate and Lara - how good you will be able to see Jake in person! Dani, I have similar feelings. I didn't enjoy Queen Latifah show as much as the other interviews. The most I liked Katie's Show, to be found on IHJ. Absolutely hilarious, with all the main characters from Prisoners. I watched it at 1 a.m. and I was laughing so much, I could wake up my neighbors. The moment when Jake and Hugh were reading to each other the compliments they said earlier about each other :) was so funny. And Jake confirmed that he looses his weight for Nightcrawlers. I hope he won't get too far with that. I don't like him too skinny.
Inside The Actor's Studio was very good too. I just wished to see some more advice from Jake to the students, I guess it was more than two questions, we could see. By the way, how did you like the pictures of little Jake. He was over cute!
I enjoyed all the interviews. Finally, they were so different from each other, not the same repeated questions.
What a hot time!
Susan, I had no doubts you'd like Prisoners, cool that your friends liked it too. I wonder, if my 17 years old niece should watch it, what do you think?
Hi Mermon! If your 17-year-old niece is accustomed to watching movies similar to Zodiac, then this one should be okay for her. There is a lot of bad language, naturally. There is also some intense violence involving someone being beaten. The tension of the search for two missing little girls is the worst, because the longer they are missing the more you can imagine what is happening to them. If she is squeamish about violence I would suggest that she not see it.
