Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful turn of the year and are coping with the return to work and/or the weather.
The snow and ice might have prevented the red carpet event from taking place in Toronto yesterday, but Jake Gyllenhaal and Denis Villeneuve still made it to up to the city for Canada's Top 10 Film Festival. They took part in an In Conversation... with TIFF's Cameron Bailey, which gave Jake the golden opportunity to give us an update on his hairyness. Thanks very much to IHJ for the photos!
Prisoners continues to gather interest. This means new interviews appear all the time, including this one with Screendaily.
Ben Stiller has been demonstrating what a man of good taste he is with his recent comments about Jake following a screening of Prisoners: 'I find Jake Gyllenhaal a very interesting young actor - very dark, handsome, magnetic. I like him.' We like you, too, Ben.
Enemy has also progress. It now has a release date in the US of 14 March, so not long at all. Hopefully, the rest of the world won't be far behind.
Everest, meanwhile, is due to start filming in just a few days, on 13 January. We hear that 'Filming for Everest is expected to mainly take place in Val Senales, Trentino Alto-Adige, Italy. Everest will hit the big screen on December 19 in the US, while the UK does not yet have an official release date.' That's what I call a birthday present!

Happy New Year everyone! This is a good start to the year!
All good news! I'm pleased for Jake.
It really seems like he's making a new start in his career.
I suppose his current look is the "mountain" look? The Bear Grylls look? ;-) Looking forward to both Enemy and Everest - and looking forward enormously to buying Prisoners on DVD next month... it's been far too long since I've seen it!
Good times! *happy*
P.S. Reading the Ben Stiller interview. I love how the article calls Jake "young Hollywood star". He's been in the business for such a long time, and yet he's still 'young'. That's nice.
I was never too keen on Ben Stiller, but I may change my mind after reading his comments on Jake. Well done, Ben.
Happy New Year everyone !
I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Kate.
It's really a good start to the year to see Jake again. I'm looking forward to Enemy and Everest and every tiny news to both of the films.
I hope to catch up on. your post later.
Have a nice evening.

Hi Kate! Happy New Year to you and thanks so much for the updates. The Ben Stiller interview was almost strange - going back to a movie he directed in 1994 and then finishing up with a (very nice) comment about Jake sort of out of the blue. Makes me wonder what else was discussed that didn't make it into the publication. Jake seems to be happy and relaxed, greeting the new year with a very exciting project. I have very high hopes for Everest, but I'm more interested in Enemy and now Nightcrawler. Some good movie times ahead!
And a Happy New Year to you too, WDW! The first part of 2014 should be good -- i.e., with Enemy coming out soon...
Was habe ich soeben gelesen?
No reaction from Antje? Amazing. Great interview in Toronto, looking forward to Everest.
Ich habe mir die Bilder von Jake aus
Kanada angesehen, und habe festgestellt das er sich ganz schöne
Backen angefuttert hat.Sieht auch besser aus.Oder liegt es an dem Rauschebart?
Hello everyone! Blogger's gone a little odd...
Thank you very much for the comments and for the Happy New Year greetings!
And a reminder.....
Gossip doesn't belong on this site - nor does unpleasantness. Be kind to one another and to Jake, please, or your comment will be deleted.
I'll never understand why people who don't like a certain celebrity, or just aren't interested, still go and post on blogs dedicated to that celebrity. I mean, why bother? Just saying.
I saw ben Stiller in "Secret Life of Walter Mitty." I thought he was well-cast for the part.
I'm loking at the results of the Golden Globes. I'm sorry that Jake didn't get nominated for anything. His work in "Prisoners" was excellent, but thoughtful and insightful screen characters don't attract awards as easily as the ones that shout ans scream and emote like crazy.
Looking forward to seeing more of Jake this year - been missing him SO much :-(

Good to see Jake looking happy and healthy. Apparently he's already on the Everest shoot, he's been spotted in Kathmandu. While I'm not loving the long hair I am looking forward to the film. Such a shame that Prisoners hasn't been nominated for any of the awards as yet but the Oscar noms come out on Thursday, so fingers crossed! Enemy looks like such an interesting film, can't wait to see it. Also would love to see this TIFF interview - one and half hours of Jake sounds sublime! Hopefully it turns up somewhere. Happy new year all and Kate thanks for doing such a great job at keeping us all up to date.

Happy (belated) New Year and thanks for the updates, Kate! I laughed at "update on his hairyness" - here he goes again! I love the long hair (always have when he's grown it out) but why someone this gorgeous would cover their beautiful face with all that hair is beyond me (unless it's for a film of course - which often it's not but maybe this time it is).
2014 is looking to be as exciting as 2013 for Jake - I'm so happy for him. Busy, busy guy with lots of great projects coming out or being worked on - which is also good for us fans of course. I'm looking forward to it all! Here's to a great 2014!
P.S. Hello to Paul...good to see you here! :-)
Thanks so much for the comments!
And yes, must echo BBMISwear, and say how good it is to see Paul again! Hello to you all! New post :)
