Jake's US Open treat

Big thanks are due to Stephanie at I Heart Jake for uncovering another couple of photos of Jake Gyllenhaal from the US Open on Sunday. I'm afraid that, as far as the first picture goes, you won't get a word of sense out of me. What a wonderful picture, quite possibly the best I've ever seen of Jake and Chris - and the second one's not bad either. I kindly request your indulgence... Can somebody tell me how the other spectators (especially the lady in seat 4), let alone the players, can possibly concentrate on a tennis match in such company?

Pictures from IHJ.

Thanks, WDW. Jake and Chris both look amazingly handsome!

oh, I agree Dani! I love the expressions - I love everything about this photo.

I love Chris' hair.

I think I might start a fanclub for his hair.

I should check the foodie blogs first; someone might already have started one.

Oh and that other fellow is pretty, too. ;-p

I had no idea Chris was so handsome. And Jake in the picture too . . . I think that's all the handsome I can stand for one day.

Night, all! :*

Omigosh...can they get any more cuter?? How any ANYONE concentrate on anything with these 2 hunks sitting there!?!?
Being a tennis junkie, i have a secret wish that Chris and Jake learn to play and make a mean double team together. That would be divine. Lots of hugging and high-fiving during the matches.
I had a cool dream last week with Jake and he was wearing this shirt!! Doesn't it look like the one he wore in the airport back in June on his way to NYC when he performed with Rufus. Anyway, it brings a smile to my face to see it all wrinkly just like in my dream! Frankly, I don't care if it's ironed or not, he can make any style look HOT!
Thanks for the post and new pictures!

Pod people perhaps? Other than that, I haven't a clue. :-)

Lovely pics, but I'm feeling a bit woozy. Is it possible to OD on handsome?

Still up at 2.15,WDW?! Get some sleep girl! Not that I'm not grateful to you for burning the candle at both ends (and in the middle too)in order to bring us such visions of loveliness!

Has Chris got some touches of blond going on in that wicked haircut? And the lady in seat 4 is obviously in a waking coma - what else can explain her still staring at the court?!

Crikey,Valentine, the scenario you present of Jake and Chris as a tennis doubles team...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,just throw a bucket of water over me,someone!

Off to join the e-mail queue for poor, exhausted WDW's account of Mr.Douglas Freeman, sweaty and shirtless...make that two buckets of water!!!

I can't concentrate on anything else just looking at the pic, Lord knows how the people actually sat near him cope! Maybe they're not real people but waxwork dummies planted there to keep real people away from Jake so as not to create a fainting epidemic;D
Actually, I think the couple in front have definitely clocked Jake, judging by the way the guy's got his arm around his (I presume) wife/girlfriend. He's not taking any chances and I don't blame him! In fact I'd feel a bit sorry for him if it weren't for the fact his hat is very rudely and inconsiderately restricting the view of Jake's chest hair in one of the previous pics ;)

I realise I'm in a minority of one here, but I really don't get what all the fuss is about with Chris. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke, but even looking at the pic with Jake covered up, I really don't see the attraction.Oh well, I'm sure he's not going to lose any sleep over it lol!!
I'm just glad that Jake has someone who is obviously a very close, genuine, and loyal friend to him, cos I imagine they're hard to come by in Jake's world :(

I'm not so fond of Chris either but he's one of Jake's best friend so he's wellcome...:)

And Jake is beyond words...a little peek of chest hair and sweat from his shirt...mmmmm

I'm still under the spell of the glimpse of Douglas Freeman you gave us WDW, it left me a little 'dazed'...let's leave it at that. ;)

I don't really get Chris either but I know WDW adores him, and I admire her restraint in Toronto. If I was somewhere a few rows from Austin there'd have been broken furniture.

(Actually I don't admire your restraint, WDW, what were you thinking, girl?)

Jake can play tennis! Didn't he learn during our wonderful summer of 2003 when Kirsten and Austin were filming Wimbledon in, umm, Wimbledon? :)

Hi everyone - a groggy WDW here :D Thanks for all the comments on the overload of handsomeness!

Michele and Valentine - this certainly looks like that Rufus shirt to me. Maybe this is the NYC shirt, which lives in a travel bag. Speaking as someone who doesn't even own an iron, I love the crinkles ;D I like the dream, Valentine!

Neely - pod people - love that! That'll be it, then.

I hope you don't run out of buckets Nadine - I'll be in touch later ;D

That's funny Twisted Logic - never mind hats blocking Jake's view of the tennnis, what about our view of him!

I'm afraid Twisted Logic and Xenia that as Anouska the Patient, Chris is just my type. When he turned that corner and walked towards us, with us not expecting him to be there, it wasn't a matter of restraint so much as being completely stunned like a gaping fish (charming picture I must have presented to Chris).

But my heart is Jake's ;D Unfortunately, I am owned by work right now, speak to you all later.

I have to confess I hadn't used to get the Chris thing either, but he's steadily grown on me ( a bit like mould ;-) ). I really have found him more and more alluring as time's gone by.

But as with WDW,I'm a Jake woman through and through and what I find most appealing about Chris is that he loves Jake. They have been friends for so many years that Jake can be sure of Chris as a loyal and trusted friend and confidant who just enjoys his company and isn't out for what he can get from a film star with a burgeoning career.

I'm sure for Chris, Jake is not Jake Gyllenhaal, superstar actor, he's just Jake. That must be a very comfortable and reassuring feeling when Jake has to move in some of the most shallow, sycophantic and scheming circles in the course of his Hollywood career. I love to see them together because gut instinct tells me we can trust Chris to be there for Jake come what may and to always be looking out for him.

As for the buckets,WDW,in the interests of water conservation (and the fact that I'm not sure how many buckets will suffice)I have the shower set on ICY ready for your details on Douglas ;-)

I can never, ever picture Jake as a naif :)

Here's the thing: He almost looks completely different in person. I mean, he looks the same obviously, but in person? STUN-NING.

Sort of like Jake in that regard. I see a lot of bad photographs of Jake, but he's so very handsome IRL.

Anonymous said...

No, he just isn't my type.

I know I'm working but you keep tempting me over :) I can't help thinking how great it would be to have a chef for a friend. I could really do with a chef friend.

Nadine - I will get back to you, I promise. I'm trying to be good for a while and obviously failing as you can see :D)

Hey Anouska! a 'naif' - translation please ;)

Felicia - I lay down a challenge to you to find me a pic where Jake looks less than handsome! I know of one or two early ones where photographers have put him in silly poses, but when it comes to non-posed shots, find me one! However, there's a slight chance I may be biased... just a tad.

I definitely agree that photos don't do Chris justice.

Hey WDW, it's the male form of naive. I can't do the dots. x

We gotta wait until October to discuss the sex scenes from Rendition. Okay. I can wait.

Chris appears to me to be a rock a gibralter type: a perfect complement to mercurial Jake.

A gay friend says "they look like they belong together" but he does not mean romantically or sexually.

Jake can flirt with guys. (Im not saying he's gay, Im just saying he can turn on the charm, and I have a feeling he does this with directors. . . ) In my view, he doesn't do this with Chris, he just seems to allow himself to relax and let someone else take the lead, for a change. I love their basketball pictures.

Well it becomes more and more clear we each have our own "Jake"
and views of his life. I must say it's alot of fun!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Ahhh, thanks Anouska *) I'm a bit dim... I don't think Jake's naif either. I'm sure he likes to get away from all that side of things though once in a while and I reckon Chris is good for that.

Positively Pia I like this: Chris appears to me to be a rock a gibralter type: a perfect complement to mercurial Jake. I love the imagery. And I agree with you - Jake seems like a flirty guy and I don't see any of that with Chris - just good mates with lots of interests in common.

And I'm only gonna talk about the sex scenes in emails, so you're safe Pia!

Hey WDW,I know you're tired and trying to catch up with work and we're not helping by continually tempting you to salivate along with us here.
The e-mail will be welcome, but in your own time hon ;-)

Vanessa didn't just respond to us in her blog, her "Gyllenhaalic-inspired" questions to Jake made it into the National Post of Canada:

Hi Anon - thanks for the link. All power to the Gyllenhaalics! Yes, I saw this earlier. I do wish she'd asked my question about what was next for Jake. I really want to know!

Thanks Nadine! In the meantime, feel free to distract me all you want :)

I think I saw Matthew Barney and Bjork in Tate Modern yesterday, but tried to play it too cool and so don't know for certain whether it was them, or just a tall bald man and a confident Icelandic lady, so I understand the determined not looking of the couple in front.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi bmg - oh I love that gallery - not necessarily all the art but I love the architecture around it. I know what you mean about playing it cool. When I was in Beverly Hills this year I saw Leo DiCaprio and I played it so, so cool - barely glancing up from my smoothy. Easier to do whern they're not Jake! Thanks for commenting :)

Sorry. Days late with this, but since I only just got home from TIFF last night and I'm still catching up, I thought I'd throw my 2 cents into the pot about Chris. Hate to keep sounding like Felicia's echo, but while I think Crhis is attractive in his photos, I think STUN-NING is a very acurate description of him in RL. I know when he walked round the corner and looked our way at the Gala, got all flustered and was like, "gahhhhhh..." Now he isn't Jake. No one is Jake. But still...
