Red carpet interview from the Rendition Gala - 7 September

EDIT Nov 2007: Unfortunately this video is no longer available for some reason. My apologies.

There are so many treasures to be found from the Rendition weekend in Toronto. Nothing beats seeing Jake Gyllenhaal in his element - on his red carpet, for his film premiere, and in demand. So much has happened since October Sky and The Day After Tomorrow. Here is a taster of what it was like at the Gala on Friday night at the Roy Thomson Hall.

As this interview was recorded, those of us fortunate enough to be in the theatre lobby, were on full alert along the red rope, while the very kind volunteer security lady did all she could to find the least obtrusive place in which to stand so that we could all see more of Jake and Peter, along with the rest of the cast.

I apologise for two posts in quick succession! Remember to check out the new pictures of Jake in NYC below.

Glad you're home safely darlin' WDW and just to say thanks so much for taking us along with you - I am shaking myself awake, as if from a dream, and wondering what day it is, too. What a wondereful trip! Back to work. . .

^^^ That was me - too tired to type properly!

Hi Pia Good to see you again. Thanks! Days don't get much better than last Friday - I'll never forget it, and I'm glad I was able to share it with such lovely people, both online and by the side of barricades, ropes, carpets and streets :D

Wellcome home WDW...:)

You have to take some rest now, this week-end has been 'demanding'!

Oh and thanks for the video: Jake's a dream and you got to meet him for, what is it now, the 3rd, 4th time?
You lucky woman you!;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Thanks very much Xenia! This was the third time, but made even better because there were four encounters spread out over 24 hours! Like spending a day with Jake :D And great to see and talk to Peter and see Chris.

WDW, didn't I tell you to GET SOME SLEEP????

Welcome back to Blighty!

Hi Anouska - I'm too sleepy to sleep. I've a press conference video to watch - is it the annoying host again?

You gotta download adobe eight or something for the press conference.
Please tell your view of this press conference. please keep sharing impressions! Peter came off, to me, as a real mensch, hope you know that expression, it is a compliment. Do you think he's in sort of a big brother role to Jake in the G family plot? Playful, fond cuffs, like the remark about writing over his face?

etcetcetc.

Welcome home, WDW. I really enjoyed this video clip of the gala interview - also the powerful and disturbing clips from the film. October 19 can't come soon enough, so I can finally see it! Thanks again for virtually taking us along to the TIFF! :)

and Jake looks fine as usual in the video. I'm so excited for the movie!

Hey WDW!! Glad you're back safe and sound :) Thanks for the vid. Jake looks gorgeous and speaks so eloquently...no change there then!

I've said it before but I'll say it again- 1)thank you so much for all your TIFF posts.
2) I can't wait to see Rendition!

Hi Positively Pia I haven't seen the press confrence yet. It's all ready to go though. It's weird as I went up to the 2nd floor where the conferences were being held, as this one was on, and saw the big doors, behind which...

I love the playfulness between Jake and Peter. Jake's lucky to have a big brother and a big sister like that.

Thanks Marina and e! I'm glad you like the video - it's wonderful. For some reason I found it hard to concentrate on the film and so I can't wait to see it again soon. Not long now. But it flew by and even despite the distractions and my high emotions, I took some time to just enjoy ake's performance. He is so sexy in it. Sorry to dwell on that but it's true and a big part of his character in this.

Thanks Twisted Logic - I must see this conference...

Thanks for that clip,WDW, you're so right about Jake being in his element here. He's a Red Carpet aficionado now, always looks the business and saying something meaningful and/or funny, quite a feat when the whole festival experience sees him beseiged by a barrage of questions, microphones and flash-bulbs.
I love the fact that, apart from obvious time constraints, he tries to stop and speak to/sign for as many fans as possible. You must be so bruised from pinching yourself on Friday,to make sure it was really happening.
In response to Pia, I think I remember Jake saying something after shooting "Jarhead" about his relationship with Peter being as if with a brother and Peter certainly seems very fond and protective of his wife's kid brother, even if he shows it in a teasing fashion.
I hope you've got some more time off work,WDW,to get over the jet lag and to let all those wonderful memories sink in!

Oh WDW - please don't worry about talking about how sexy Jake is in the movie. As well as an intelligent, thought provoking movie, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of sexy to enjoy, and I can hardly wait. It's all part of movies if you ask me. ;)

Hi Nadine - Jake really seems to have been enjoying himself with the crowd. I missed much of that because I was intent on getting a good spot in the foyer - also I was so lucky to have already had an autograph that day :D So when Jake arrived and the screams started we were being led inside, we could see him but not for long. But we had our moment when Jake walked through the foyer, smiling away.

Unfortunately, I have no time off, only time to make up... :(

Hey Marina - thanks! I was spellbound by the power of the film but also extremely moved to have this adult sexy performance from Jake - it moved me to tears through much of the film. I just hadn't seen Jake like this before and I liked it.

Anonymous said...

May I ask - is there a good sex scene and how much of Jake do we get to see - etcetceetc. (o Im such a pervy!)

Anonymous said...

^^What Marina siad, at 19:25. I still can't quite believe that it's actually possible for Jake to look sexier than he did in Brokeback Mountain, but if you want to try to convince me otherwise,WDW, you go right ahead!;)
Off now to grab some Dairy Milk and watch the Press Conference -- I've only been looking forward to it all day :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Pervy Pia - I'll have to pm you if you want specifics but what I can say without giving much away, is that there are two sexy scenes :P

Twisted Logic - believe me, Jake is far sexier in Rendition than in BBM. They're completely different characters. Douglas doesn't have Jack's warmth. He makes up for it in other ways :) Enjoy your Dairy Milk - I need to do some shopping for critical supplies :D

Anonymous said...

WDw, are you saying that Douglas is a strong and silent, mean and moody, bad-boy type? Cos if he is then I'm probably going to need resuscitating several times when I see it!! And TWO sexy scenes?!:D Are the "sweaty and shirtless" rumours true? ;)
I gave up on watching the press conference (once I'd finally got the sound to play) cos it was just too spoilerish :( Hopefully it'll still be around after the film comes out.

I have to say I wasn't very impressed by the interviewer having to ask Zineb Oukach how her name was pronounced - very unprofessional. It might be my imagination but the camera was on Jake at that moment and he didn't look too impressed either. Of course the same thing's happened to him more times than I care to remember.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Twisted Logic - I gave up on the press conference as I couldn't get the sound to work at all. Does it even out after a while?

Douglas is defintely the silent and moody type (bit keen on a tipple too :D). There is shirtless and sweaty.

I felt sorry for Zineb at the press conference as her car didn't arrive to pick her up and she didn't have a minder with her so she was left floundering a bit in front of the paps and press. She dealt with it well though and the paps were very nice to her.

Someone tell me that press conference video is watchable after a while :\

Douglas doesn't have Jack's warmth. He makes up for it in other ways.

Oh Man . . . I may have to make an exception to my "no spoilers" rule for that. ;)

Anonymous said...

WDW, I don't know if the sound problem I had was due to the video itself or my computer. The sound does play up sometimes on my computer so I did what I usually do and re--started it and it was fine, but like I say it might just be my computer.Sorry I can't be of more help :( Hopefully a downloadable version will turn up somewhere:)

So I take it that Zineb's character is the lucky lady who falls for Douglas's mean and moody charm? She certainly fits the description from that person who first mentioned the sweaty and shirtless scene- she's stunning!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Marina - it's so hard writing about Douglas without any kind of spoiler!

So if anyone wants to know specifics - email me and I'll tell you want you want to know :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Twisted Logic - Zineb isn't Douglas' girl.

She is a beauty though, no doubt. The girlfriend is another one.

I'll have another go with the video tomorrow. It's very frustrating :(

Anonymous said...

Now I've read and Zineb's character, and my mind is going to start churning and worrying - I better not read or say anymore. Let's see how much willpower I have, WDW, I give it about 15 minutes before I email you about Douglas. ;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Just don't fight it Marina! Douglas is waiting :D

Anonymous said...

LOL WDW you made me laugh out loud with that one - far be it from me to keep him waiting! ;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Glad to give you a laugh! I've been chuckling myself tonight at the thought of just how strong Douglas is. I know I should be concentrating on serious political and international issues, but I'm drawn to Douglas' pecs and biceps - why is that, I wonder? Might be something to do with the fact I've had no sleep in 48 hours... or not ;)

Hey..WDW..you know I am going to email you...you may have read my comment on another post...I like to know the details before I see a movie...especially where Jake is concerned.....thanks for sharing yourself and your experiences with us....Michele

Hi WDW,
I'm glad you home and safe. You gave me the very best time at the TIFF; thanks for taking me along. I'm still in happy shock from reading your reports, commentary and looking at all your pics of everyone and everything at least 3976093760 times. Jake is all ways articulate and bright. He shines when discussions are on about most things, but about his movies, he's effervescent.

Just wanted to poke my head in and say hello!! Can I just say: I adore WDW!!!! She is an angel! And we had a lovely, wonmderful time. I haven't had a chance to read everything thoroughly, but my first skim of WDW's reports are are transporting! And WDW, I love absolutely love what you said about Jake and the way he's changed and grown. All true. There is so much to digest so much to process. All I can say is this has been one of the most memorable experiences of my life. It was just the best time!!! I am still in Toronto. Saw a screening of I'm Not There a little while ago. My, my, my. Heath can hold his own in the "sexy" department, too!!! I will be leaving here tomorrow afternoon. I will catch up more and post some impressions. Love to all!! And WDW, I am so happy I've met you.You are truly stellar!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Bobbyanna!!! Thanks for popping by - I'm so glad you got to see I'm Not There.

Thank you more than I can say for meeting me and sharing this fabulous time - I am so glad we saw Jake and Rendition together. Your knowledge and insight about TIFF and movies in general really added to the experience (although I think you gotta admit my Jake instincts are pretty finely tuned ;) ). I can't wait til you get back and give us your report. Have a safe trip home, my friend and love to you know who *)

Hi Sass - thanks for the welcome home :) This is so true but about his movies, he's effervescent. That just captures Jake and his enthusiasm in so many of these interviews.

Hi Bobbyanna! Glad you had such a good time at the TIFF, and in such sparkling company. Looking forward to hearing your take on things. Safe journey home.

You lucky thing, having seen INT already. I've seen a still of Heath from said film and indeed, he's often such a sizzler in the sexy department,I'm surprised he ever has to hold his own ;-) !!

Anonymous said...

OK. At the risk of causing just a few heart palpitations, I just want to say, that I thought Heath's nude scene was VERY tastefully done! LOLOL!!! OK. I have to calm down so i can drive home. And also. In person, Jake Gyllenhaal is totally beyond gorgeous. He is beautiful. Blindingly so. And he is very sweet. And yes, he moves with a level of self confidence and he projects a special something and ...I'm going to go to dinner and start packing. Tomorrow, I want to see a screening of Reservation Road with Joaquin Phoenix at 9 AM, and then I hit the highway for a 4 hour drive home. Pray it doesn't rain, plz. WDW, you have a-MAZ-ing instincts where Jake is concerned. Totally. I defer to you for all time on that.! Take care all. Will post more tomorrow after I get in!
