Jake out and about in Beverly Hills, Thursday 8 November

If there's one thing that you really don't need in England right now, it's an iced coffee (a hot toddy would be far more appropriate), but the same can not be said for Beverly Hills. Proving the point, here is Jake Gyllenhaal walking down the very smart Camden Drive. I hate to start a panic, but is the beard coming back already?

Pictures from IHJ and JJ.

I hate to start a panic, but is he putting on a little weight?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I hate to inflame the panic, but I think you're right pia paniced :D .... BUT, this close to starting filming, with all the costume fittings and prep etc, I'm thinking (hoping?) it may be character related and once Jake's out of that Brothers prison and working round the farm with Natalie, it'll come off (the weight that is). Whatever, though, he looks good enough to eat :)

Christie said...

Weight and beard worries aside, he's looking good to me. I do love casual-Jake. I also like walking-down-the-street-with-a-purpose-Jake. I like that jumper he's wearing too.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I also like walking-down-the-street-with-a-purpose-Jake - I love that Jake too Christie. And I find the expression on his face very sexy. In fact thre's not a lot about these pics I don't like (also my favourite boots are back :) )

Cherita said...

Everyone thought he looked chunky in Rome, too, and then just a couple of days ago he looked lean as ever at the Staples Center. It's probably to do with the camera angle, the wind, the way his undershirt is bunched beneath the outer shirt, or something other than actual weight gain. Of course, it could be for Brothers, too.

He looks delicious. And yes, I think the beard is on its way back in. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Cherita - definitely delicious. And yes I have to add that when I saw Jake in Rome he looked very tall and slender in that grey suit. But I've always loved the fact that Jake is a foodie.

twistedlogic said...

Hey WDW! If you want an iced coffee round here all you have to do is make a hot coffee and leave it on the side for 5 minutes! It's bloody freezing!!
So new Jake pics are most welcome, I feel warmer already. And yes, it looks like the beard is starting to burst through again (I can handle it like this though, it's not too long yet). I've thought for a while that he looks like he's put on a bit of weight in recent pics, but I think it suits him - I like cuddly Jake;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Loving the 'Cuddly Jake' image TL! Now that would be... warming :D

twistedlogic said...

I should point out that I find Jake "cuddly" whether he's put on weight or not, I wouldn't let a lean muscled frame put me off! Of course it could be like Cherita says, the wind or his clothes or the camera angle...Jake, how about some shirtless pics next time? Just so we can, y'know, make a scientifically accurate assessment;D

Anonymous said...

I think it could be the angle... some pics he doesn't look so "puff up". this set of pics reminds me of those old days when we just saw walking around with cup of coffee or cupcakes :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

TL - I admire a woman of science :) That sounds like an excellent experiment.

Hi Winterbird - those pictures seem like such a long time ago now, don't they? But less than a year.

Xenia said...

Yeah he definitely looks delicious, I like that grey sweater of his and those perfectly shaped pecs under...:)

twistedlogic said...

Wdw, that's too funny! I've been described as a lot of things in my time but "a woman of science" is definitely not one of them! Of course if studying pics of Jake had been on the curriculum things might have been very different;)

Christie said...

I think cherita may be right about why Jake looks a little bulkier in this pic than other recent ones...the ones taken with Reese the other day for instance, he looked really lean and good and hot and....oh dear, I'm getting all hot and bothered again.

I had a look at those boots, WDW, after you mentioned them, and they are lovely. Well, actually it was just an excuse to look at his gorgeous face again really.

I've finally watched the Access Hollywood vid you posted a couple of days ago of Jake talking on the set of MM, when he talks initially about GG and Jennifer Aniston. I have to say I was a litte confused at first, because I have seen this vid before, but when I watched it originally, it cuts in as Jake is actually talking about JA, but because I never heard the interviewer ask the question, I thought he must be talking about SS, seeing as he was on the set of GG!!! Talk about confused! lol He is so so adorable in this interview, and he looks sooooo young! But don't you just love the hand bite thing he does! Damn, I never noticed that first time!!! God, I was worried for a minute he was going to really hurt himself and leave a mark! lol

I was thinking..he made MM before he came to the UK to do TIOY...so imagine, he'd been in some films with some big stars and he was still a virtual unknown here. Amazing really. I do remember reading a review of TGG and Jake getting a lot of praise for his role.

This is a very rambling post.

chillinwitgyllen said...

He looks very built on top, I love the little gut he has (pasta).

When is he going to Boston? It's gotta be soon.

Have a Jake filled day everyone.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Beer belly too, it's gotta be the Stella.

Anonymous said...

I think the short hair combined with much less beard also contributes to his pudgey look. IDK.Love the way he "strides."
WDW, is the film, "Brothers" set on a farm??? I don't think the foreign version was.

I wonder if they will film the "Afghanistan" parts in New Mexico as well. There are certain parts of Nevada and even California and Arizona they might use. In the foreign version it was kind of obvious to me they weren't actually filming in an area similar to Afghanistan.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Come on UK girls, it's not as cold there as it is in Upstate NY right now, we're hovering around the 30's and 40's and yesterday we saw some snow dusting.

Anonymous said...

Jake himself is a grande-sized cup of hot. Iced or blended or neat or off his rocks. Your blog, hell the internet, doesnt have enuff room to describe his holiness, Thee Sex.

Questions: Any more clues or descrips as to who the "female friend' was picking him up? And, why is evryone picking up Jake and driving him around of late? Did he lose his license, is he only allowed to drive when he's with reese? I can see his wanting to be safe, when out at night, maybe having some wine or whatever, but he's being driven even during the day. Makes me wonder....does WDW or anyone else have any theories to chew on?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Xenia - Good to see you!

TL That's a good point - we need Jake on the curriculum - and they're gonna need teachers :)

Hi Christie - the interveiw caught me out at first too as it's an extended version but still without the necessary intro - so yes it's Jake talking about TGG and Jen while on the set of MM. Even now I think Jake still has some way to go before he's considered a major star in the UK. My speciality is rambling posts :)

Morning CWG! It looks like Jake will be heading to New Mexico and not Boston. I think the scheduled start date is around 27 November.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Welcome Wondering Drooler! Jake himself is a grande-sized cup of hot. - that is quite some image and I'm not disagreeing :D

The female driver may well have been the blonde woman that is regularly seen collecting Jake from LAX or driving him around town. Lately we've mainly seen Jake being driven from nights out (such as the restaurant, the gig and the game) and I've been thinking that it's because he's being sensible - he's having a tipple and he's not drinking and driving, Jake doesn't have to rely on taxis (or Mr WDW *) ) like the rest of us :D If he's going somewhere for work then maybe it's arranged for one of the usual drivers to pick him up.

Believe me, I've driven round LA - if someone offers to drive you around - take them up on it!

agent_krycek said...

There's something very sexy about a man who strides purposefully, and my how Jake can stride.

Not sure about the weight issue, he looks okay around the waist region, and I'm hoping the t shirt and jumper are clinging tightly to his upper chest and it's just well defined muscles we can see, and not the other possibility.

Goodness, Jake will be working on a farm, is it very wrong of me to hope for loads of stripped to the waist, sweaty Jake shots as he toils round the farm...

Wet Dark and Wild said...

CWG and Bobbyanna - where did you come from? Must have commented at exactly the same time :D

Bobbyanna - Now why do I think it's on a farm? Good question and for the life of me I can't remember. I thought I'd read something and now I have no idea why I think that! I'm hoping that Jake's version will be sufficiently different from the original so that we won't have to listen to endless comparisons. I can't imagine it's a straightforward remake (hope not anyway).

I'll have you know CWG - we're a little delicate here when it comes to extremes of weather :) Especially as we don't even get those extremes we just like to think we do :D

And it is true - Stella can have an effect in the belly department and I speak from experience.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Agent Krycek - there's a good chance I've completely made up the farm thing - too much oggling at the Interview photoshoot no doubt and Jake saying he wanted to be a farmer.
And you're right, the tight jumper is so we can fully enjoy the muscles.

Jake is quite possibly the best strider about.

Christie said...

CWG, did you not know, us Brits love to moan about the weather. It's just something we are very good at.

WDW, I think you are right about Jake not really considered a big star in the UK....I was probably thinking more of myself, as in pre-BBM I had never really heard of him, and of course I represent the whole of the UK!! lol

agent_krycek, I too see something sexy in a man who strides. Jake is a very good strider.

I got my hopes up for Jake filming on farm to get lots of shots of him having to take his top off and wipe his sweaty brow with it. Sweaty Jake.......almost as sexy as Strider Jake.

Anonymous said...

O gosh as if I dont have enuff worries now Ive gotta worry about Jake putting on weight. I like him long and lean - -

Okay enough of the "farming" Jake was kidding. As if I dont have enuff worries, I have to spend half my life figuring out whem Jake is kidding, and when not. Sigh! There is no farm in the film, by the way - I bet they are using NM because of Afganistan site. That hadnt occured to me.

And why is Jake being driven around? OMG - it's just too much
for poor Pia -

chillinwitgyllen said...

WDW, we get lake effect snow here, average 120 feet/year. If you don't own a pair of skis (downhill or cross country) your out of luck.
I'll need this blog to keep me warm this winter talking about Jake. My husband does a pretty good job of that too.

Another Ellen thing I remember was he told her she was funny and she said he was handsome and shyly he responded 'thank you'. Then she went on to more digging about his dating life and he basically said he doesn't have alot of time.

twistedlogic said...

is it very wrong of me to hope for loads of stripped to the waist, sweaty Jake shots as he toils round the farm...

Hi Agent Krycek! How could something so right be wrong?I totally share your hopes on this one!
And even if it's a figment of WDW's imagination and the film doesn't actually take place on a farm, maybe it's not too late to change the script! Especially if they're going to re-write it anyway to include the "naked Jake shaving off his beard" scene that someone suggested recently;)

chillinwitgyllen said...

"long and lean"

I love this description Pia, heehee, makes me think of something else :D

He's being driven arouind because when he's out he's probably drinking and he doesn't want to be the next celebrity DUI, he's a total target right now.

Anonymous said...

OK I know you meant Stella as in the beer, but the first thing I thought of was Streetcar Named Desire....Jake, desire, start the engine, hop on that trolley, make some tracks..ahhh. Is there a 12 step Quit Jake program? And why the hell am I asking, cuz I would never join? :)

chillinwitgyllen said...

WDW, me too, I always get a bear gut when I drink. I've been experimenting with other drinks recently ;D

chillinwitgyllen said...

W&D, that's how I see, Jake is definetly like a drug. I need my daily fix :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Positively paniced - I don't think you have to worry about Jake's weight, he's just perfect :)

CWG - I love these little bits from Ellen. Flippin heck, I'm surprised you go out at all in the winter. A good excuse to watch some Jake movies.

He's being driven arouind because when he's out he's probably drinking and he doesn't want to be the next celebrity DUI, he's a total target right now. Sad as this is, I agree with you 100%

TL - Oh you've put that fabulous song in my head! And don't forget the 'sex in a haystack' scene - it's essential for the plot.

Wondering - none of us want to get on that programme. Streetcar Named Desire - how wonderful was that, love to be reminded of that.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Hey WDW, New Mexico has the same weather as Syracuse. It's bazaar for being considered desert terrain. Boston's a bit milder. BTW, good point, 'staying inside to watch Jake movies', I can catch up on the ones I missed.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

The filming is based at a college CWG - it's just a guess that it's being used for Afghanistan. But then much of Afghanistan isn't a desert, it's rocky, mountainous and scrubby. It's also extremely cold there at times. Lots of snow for instance. Now I'm feeling really chilly Chillin!

agent_krycek said...

Also, as he's a big paps target at the moment, it might just be easier letting someone else deal with the driving, so he isn't getting wound up, and attempting to drive a car at the same time, which could be dangerous.

Damm, is Brothers not set on a farm, feck, I had loads of half naked, sweaty Jake scenarios building in my head.

Anonymous said...

Ohhhh yes, I like this look too, cuddly and yummy, and real -
I know I'm going to love this film. I'm purposely staying away from all major information about it so I can enjoy it thoroughly. :)

Anonymous said...

I hate to start a panic, but is the beard coming back already?

Just wait a couple hours - the beard will have grown another 1/2 inch. :D Ah, the stride - for some reason the song "Walk Like A Man" just popped into my head. :)

chillinwitgyllen said...

I know I say this alot but I love talking to my UK friends, mostly because of Jake but also listening to the verbage:

"best strider about"
"bloody"
"flippin heck"

it's awesome, I might have to visit just so I can learn to talk like that :D

I love "The Good Girl" , even though Jake had the worst haircut on screen in that film :P

And the TGG's DVD outtake scenes are to die for... just to hear Jake giggling like a 10-year-old is well worth the money. :)

Anonymous said...

Jake is lucky to have very versatile looks, which will serve his future in films well, I think, whether tall and slim, or athletic. This is a more "hands on" kind of real man look, for touchin', lovin' and squeezin' and cuddlin'. ;)

And if they show him shaving, that will send me into the stratosphere. I have always found watching a man shave extremely fascinating and way hawt. :)

Christie said...

winterbird (love your name, btw!), what was wrong with Jake's hair in TGG? I thought it was fine and dandy.

Oh I so agree about the GG outtakes though...Jake giggling is worth its weight in gold. Love the ones in bed, showing off his lovely, sexy chest. Mmmm. Nice.

Christie said...

Especially if they're going to re-write it anyway to include the "naked Jake shaving off his beard" scene that someone suggested recently;)

TL, whoever suggested that as a scene for "Brothers" deserves an oscar! Oh my giddy aunt, I think I will faint if we see that....which would be a shame, as I'll miss it then.

chillinwitgyllen said...

I just really wanted to be the 40th comment, that's all.

chillinwitgyllen said...

OH shit!!! I guess 44th will do.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hooray - just finished work for the weekend :D

Hi Marina - I'm staying well away from the original Brothers too as I want nothing to spoil this treat for me.

Oh Neely - please don't put that song in my head, especially after TL was so kind to put Katie Melua there ;)

CWG TL is the master of the Britspeak - her Phwooaars are legendary - I can't do it myself.

It's an age since I saw those outtakes Winterbird - It took me a long time to appreciate TGG. Too long.

Welcome Bertie Knox! I love this: This is a more "hands on" kind of real man look, for touchin', lovin' and squeezin' and cuddlin'. ;) - a fine description of Jake if ever I heard one.

As for the man shaving thing, I'm afraid I have little experience as Mr WDW is far harier than Jake has ever been :D (except when Jake wore the gorilla suit I hasten to add in case he reads this).

Christie - I'm inclined to agree with Winterbird here - IMO Jake's hair was terrible in TGG, although not as bad as in MM - not that that's saying much. Fortunately Rendition made up for all that :D

Hiya CWG *)

I think it might be hard to be all shirtless and sweaty in New Mexico in December. If they were replicating the Scandanavian film, then maybe we'd see Jake in a hot bath...and outdoor one.. I know. There was no such scene in the original. But there could have been, and there should be. LOL!!Don't they have hot springs in New Mexico? I thought there was something healthy there.

Anonymous said...

Christie, I don't mind a Jake with facial hair, but he must not cover his gorgeous forehead!! :P

Anonymous said...

No not extremely cold in Santa Fe - ! when it hits sixty the locals begin to complain - and from Sept to May 1 there was only one light snow that disappeared immediately!

There are sudden hailstorms as in BBMt -

Anonymous said...

Wow, busy here today! :D Guess new pics of Jake will do that. ;) I think he looks good, very cuddly and sexy, as mentioned before. I do feel he is probably getting ready for Brothers so it is all good, imo.

WDW, glad you are feeling better (from the discussion in previous threads) and I hope Sass and anyone who wasn't feeling up to snuff is feeling better too. (((Group hug)))

Glad it is finally the weekend!

Anonymous said...

Yes Bobbyanna! They have wonderful hot springs in New Mexico. Ojo Caliente, "hot eye" is one of them, very near Santa Fe. You get naked and cover yourself with red clay and then go soak in various mineral baths.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Bobbyanna, Santa Fa has some nice dayspas there, or maybe they'll just use Hollywood magic.

Makes me wonder why he shaved it off in the first place to just have to regrow it again.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Pia, sign me up.

Iggy said...

OH God!!! I'm late to the drool fest here...but I'm making up for lost time....those new pics are fab!!! I love Jake in any shape whatsoever...but more Jake is more to cuddle, should I ever get the opportunity outside of my dreams of course.

Bertie Knox I loved, loved, loved, your description..of this Jake..
//This is a more "hands on" kind of real man look, for touchin', lovin' and squeezin' and cuddlin'.// Whew!! Oh yeah!!

I have to admit to not loving Jakes hair in GG, but I did like it in MM....oh heck. I like it any way!

I think he is being driven around for a number of reasons too. The paps is a big one, they can be bloody dangerous at times, so I think this is a wise move on Jake's part. Also the drink, and let's face it, if I could get someone to drive me around all the time, I'd take it.

I also have kept away from any info on the original 'Brothers' but I agree I think it will be better if they change it up a little and it isn't an exact replica of the original with different actors. Although even if it is, I'm sure Jake will outshine his predecessor anyway ( not that I'm biased at all ) but really with Jake's acting I don't HAVE to be biased to think that. He is a very talented guy!

I'm getting excited about this film already, maybe it's something to do with the words Jake..and Naked..hehe I'm sorry, I'm very shallow, but I can't help it.

And I'm one of those people...live in London...didn't see Jake on the stage. Huh. That will NEVER happen again..should he come back. Although I think that will be a looooong way off, if ever. Sadly. More chance that a film he is making will be filmed here. I can always hope. And since he said he would be back soon, I've started praying too....

OH well. I think I'll go back to looking at the lovely new Jake pics again. Christ, this man is just so gorgous, but we ALL know that... right?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

So good to see everyone here - nothing for it, time to break open the Stella ;)

Yep Bobbyanna - bath scenes should be a compulsory element for all of Jake's films from now on. Rendition has done that to me. The image Pia's painting of those hot mud baths isn't helping :D

OMG Christie - you are so right. I care far less about the beard than I do about The Fringe. No, Jake must never have one of those again:\

Thanks Get Real *) - love the group hug and I don't think we should exclude Jake.

Good point CWG but I think as soon as Jake shaves off his beard he then remembers how much he hates shaving. Maybe someone should volunteer to do it for him?

chillinwitgyllen said...

That looks like a tall, double expresso pumpkin pie spiced cold latte, fat free, no whip.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Rosie - great comment! Totally agree with your opinion on Jake being driven around - it just makes sense. I think there's every chance Jake will make a film in the UK, so many studios use the facilities here. Having the Ryan Phillippe show outside my work shows that. And, of course, Maggie's been around here filming until very recently.

Yes, Jake is gorgeous :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Blimey - That looks like a tall, double expresso pumpkin pie spiced cold latte, fat free, no whip. That's so funny but how does it taste?

Anonymous said...

Y'know, Im beginning to wonder if New Mexico is not being used for the mideast scenes, and Jake will not be part of this. This is high desert, and many have said the landscape reminds them of Biblical landscape, in other words, mideast

maybe they are filming in NM AND Boston. This would not surprise me.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Blimey awesome!!

chillinwitgyllen said...

Not fair WDW, some people are still working! Or am I?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

That's a good point Pia - hopefully some info will emerge soon, although it was always a bit of a guessing game with Rendition.

Can I start with a Phwwooooaarr too as it's one of my favourite Britspeak ways of expressing my appreciation for the Gyllen-frame.

I'm late to the party too and indulging in a speed read, because I'm still reliant on the chuffin' library for Net access at the mo! :-O If my PC chap doesn't get mine back to me soon I may have to re-arrange his face for him and I'm not normally a violent woman!
;-D

Jake certainly looks in fine form in these new pictures, not too much evidence of his recent beard and sporting just a hint of a Stella-belly. Jake seems to be able to indulge in a food-fest for a while, put on a few pounds, while still looking gorgeous, and then shed any extra weight in no time at all(makes ya sick, doesn't it?!) to get "match-fit" for when a new film project starts.

On the haircut front,I haven't really hated any of his film-cuts,he still manages to be at the very least cute and more often than not really fit, whatever hairstyle he's sporting, even the "Jarhead". I just love Holden so much that the dated tresses in GG really don't matter...and I too love the out-takes in the DVD where Jake and the lovely Jennifer keep getting the Gyllen-giggles in the bedroom scene. Awwww.

I'm all for Jake employing a driver to get him out of tight spots with the Paps or to allow for having a drink on a night out,but I still wish he'd belt up! In some photos he is suitably secured with a seat belt but several times, both as a driver and a passenger(even more dangerous) I've seen videos/photos of him without a seat-belt. I think I might write to Naomi and ask her to have a motherly word ;-)!!

Slighty OT - Agent_Krycek! Hi there. Would your name be a tribute to the wonderfully sinister Alex Krycek of "X-Files" fame? If you're a fellow fan, did you know that David and Gillian start filming the second X-files film in December? I'm chuffed to little mint-balls at the news (more Brit-speak ;-) ).

Gotta go chaps, typing against the clock here! Get Real...Right back at ya with the (((Group hug))) Take care everybody and have a great weekend!

Oh Neely - please don't put that song in my head, especially after TL was so kind to put Katie Melua there ;)

Hey WDW - that one went over my head, I'm afraid. :) I never heard of Katie Melua so I googled her, but what song are you talking about?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Nadine - great to see you, mate! You have got to get your PC fixed... just like other people need to get their PCs sorted (mentioning no name - Anouska *) )

I love how Jake likes his food and maybe the occasional tipple (I'm having a very cold Stella right now, brr) without worrying about the pounds. Great to hear from you, thanks for going to so much trouble :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Neely - the song is The Closest Thing to Crazy, which is one of my favourites (not keen on the new album, though :( ) I don't know if TL was referring to it or not because actually the lines are a bit different but mean the same thing:

'How can happiness feel so wrong?
How can misery feel so sweet?'

This is one of my Jake songs :) There are a couple of others by Katie too that I think of in that way - Blame it on the Moon and Thank You Stars.

:)

chillinwitgyllen said...

Speaking about outtakes, during the MM commentaries when Jake is talking with the director and Dustin about making the movie, he starts every sentence with "I'd like to say", so polite that lad is.

Cherita said...

Regarding the GG or MM hair being the worst, haven't you ever seen Bubble Boy? ;) Jimmy Livingston has to win that one, no contest.

maybe they are filming in NM AND Boston. This would not surprise me.

Good point, as we've been told the actor trailers are already on site in NM, yet there's Jake, at least as of yesterday, at home in the Hills. I know we miss him when he's in some kind of seclusion, but shots of him on location seem much more likely when filming in America, so I'm looking forward to a little Brothers set peek at some point. The sooner the better.

I suspect Jake is driven around because it's fracking stressful to drive in L.A. It's stressful to drive here, for that matter, and if someone were being paid to ferry me about, I'd definitely take advantage. Add to that the potential hazard of those loony paps, plus, the more often Jake is seen being chauffeured, the less conspicuous it is when he has a ride because he's chosen to drink. I don't get the impression that he drinks much at everyday, non-celebratory occasions.

Anonymous said...

also, maybe he doesnt want to kill anybody when the paps are hanging on the windshield like fruitbats - and hard not to lose your temper, sometimes, I should think!

Anonymous said...

oh there's a cute bubble boy video on OMG - are we allowed to say that, WDW - Ive not seen the film -OMG the haircut! Jake is really willing to let go all the way - Im gonna put this film on netflix. it looks wierd and pretty funny. Jake, have you no shame? (wet dark wild and zany. . . )

Anonymous said...

the song is The Closest Thing to Crazy, which is one of my favourites

Oh, I like that one! (just got back from a listen) I have Jake songs, too. One is "Gee Whiz" (I like the Bernadette Peters version), and "Other Side of the Hill" by Suzy Bogguss which is really a Jack Twist song. :)

OK, I'm off for now to give those other songs a listen.

Have a great day everyone.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Cherita - I just find BB Jimmy so cute without being fanciable (too young) and so I never think of his hair in that way. Admittedly it is... shocking. I do hope we get to see some pics from the filming - I agree it's more likely in the US. I always get the impression that Jake likes to drive - and who wouldn't with gorgeous cars like those (sigh) but it is stressful driving in LA, not to mention boring due to the traffic, and he's sensible not to be papped driving away from a bar or restaurant. But then I'm sure Jake is a sensible driver.

And yes Pia - can't be easy with a pap hanging on to your windscreen wipers. Fortunately not something I have to contend with on my commute.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Pia - you have got to see that film!! But better even than the film is Jake's commentary - it's absolutely wonderful.

Neely - thanks. I'll check out those songs. I'm glad you liked the Crazy song :)

Oh, man, pia, you really haven't seen BB? You must make it a priority. And as WDW said, after watching, go again with the commentary on. No Gyllenhaalic should be without the innocent charm of Jake's Jimmy! BB is the go-to Jake movie when life gets crummy. It never, ever fails to put a big, silly grin on my face.

Too right Cherita - Bubble Boy is my film of choice when I have the blues - there is so much of it I could quote! I've got the image of Jake dressed as a yellow fish in my mind right now...

I like the Bubble Boy hair :)
The only hair I didn't like was the Moonlight Mile hair ...

Hey WDW I just "heard" you take my name in vain * - am in a chuffin' (thanks Nadine) caff right now but it's nearly empty, which is great.

I was expecting worse from the pics - Mr Creosote or something - he just looks a little bit porky, but still cute as!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Anouska the absent - I knew I should have whispered... How's the caff coffee tonight ;) Our boy's cute all right :D

Wouldn't combine coffee with Jakin' WDW - anyhow it's probably rank - the keyboard is :) Happy weekend *

Happy weekend Anouska - I'll be in touch *)

I like looking at these Striding Jake pics, and I've noticed he not only strides with a purpose, he takes really long strides too. Imagine walking with him - I'd have to practically jog to keep up with him (which would not be good as I wouldn't be able to talk and breathe at the same time!).

Sorry I caused a brouhaha regarding Jake's hair in film. I do respect the fact that you want to see Jake's forehead as much as possible though, winterbird. I do think Jake's hair in BB takes the biscuit but he's so cute and adorable you can forgive him the hair.

I love hearing Jake do commentary on his films too, he's so interesting and funny and self-deprecating, plus he has one of the sexiest voices on the planet (next to Heath Ledger, who I've never heard do a commentary on any of his films, sadly). I loved his commentary on DD, and when he says, in reference to the kissing between him and Jena Malone's character "we did a lot of sucking face in this movie". LOL

Oh and Nadine, love you using the word "chuffin" in your post! Such a great word. You can add that to your list of words, CWG!!

What in bloody name does "chuffin" mean anwway?

I said bloody because I'm also drinking a bloody mary to go along with the UK mood, it seemed so apropos (sp?) where's my spell check?

Hi WDW I'm # 86;) maybe.

Thanks for the hugs and feel goods from everyone. Today I'm taking marvelous pain meds and may not make any sense...thank goodness the script is limited. It looks like I missed some of the fun:(
I still have most of my Jake movie commentaries to listen to , but I have t make myself stop watching the movies. I think I'll try to watch and listen to the BBscommentary, if I can stop laughing.
Lets see, hmmmm
Jake's hair IS marvelous, thick and shiny and beautiful.
I didn't pay attention to his MM haircut for years...that he has such a gorgeous hairline, escaped me until I glimpsed it in BBM.
I don't think Jake can do much yet to muddy up his looks...maybe he'll have to...he is method...though his method is not similar to the totally immersed method of Daniel Day Lewis or our lovely and gorgeous Heath.

MethinksJake is bulking up for his next movie. I'm remembering his hair in Rendition which needed so much product to keep it in one place...and which he cut ASAP after the shoot.
Let's see I'm also learning from my friends here
chuffed
stella
flippin

Jake must've decided to hire drivers after that dining out with his brother-in -law fiasco...paps, as pia mentioned, were nearly swinging off his windshield wipers. and he doesn't want the DUI situation.

And if his mom, is as attentive to his person, as I imagine, she might have mentioned in passing,"Jake, I see you aren't wearing your seat belt at times."*grin*
Moms never quit giving out advice...ever.

I'm only guessing at what pre production means...will Google later...but I wonder if his character is a bulkier man than Jake is normally.
James Sheridan did direct My Left Foot, a movie I'll never forget and a movie which Daniel Day Lewis broke two ribs while maintaining certain positions for long periods of time.
I'm not going to order the Danish version of Brothers; I don't want to spoil Jake's version for myself.

Here's hoping Rendition is on a fast track to a January DVD drop and we know that Zodiac is out In January, with Jake's commentary, that way we'll have a double DVD treat.
Zodiac is still getting buzz and may get an Oscar nomination.

Hey Christie - I have real trouble keeeping up with strides like that :D But it's very sexy! I love that bit from the DD commentary too.

Hi CWG - I've discussed the meaning of the word 'chuffin' with Mr WDW and he says 'It's not polite' - but he's also been criticising my cooking this evening (or 'welding techniques' as he calles it) so we're not really taking any notice of him. I'd love to have a Bloody Mary :D I'm making do with Chilean wine :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Sass! - thanks for that great comment. And you must see the BB commentary, it's just wonderful. Ahh, I know what 'chuffed' means and that's such a great word :) I think Jake must be bulking up for the movie too. And yes, here's hoping the Rendition DVD will be soon but I suspect it will be a while due to the delayed dates in Europe - but I'm usually wrong. I cannot wait for the Zodic commentary, and that's putting it mildly.

Well, just to confuse you, chuffin and chuffed mean different things. And you can add the word "nora" after chuffin and that really means someone's not happy. Oh the wonder of the english language! A word commonly used in certain parts of the UK as a term of endearment is "cock" (certainly where I was brought up).

I'm being good and not looking at any info regarding the original "Brothers" film either, I just want to watch this knowing nothing (or very little anyway), although I am intrigued.

I wonder where Jake is going to spend Thanksgiving? Anyone got any guesses or gossip about that?

chillinwitgyllen said...

WDW, tell Mr. WDW now he needs to take out for dinner for criticizing your cooking? Also, remind him that Jake would probably love your cooking :)

I'll remember never to use that word whenever I'm in London.

I've had some pretty good chilean wine myself. Bloddy Mary to celebrate my UK friends and keep my bones warm.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Christie, I heard he was headed to Hawaii for a family vacation with reese.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Don't worry Pia, I've never seen BB either, for the simple fact that no video rental store in my area carries it. It's not for the lack of trying I can tell you. So, in my desperate attempts I've seen clips of BB on Youtube which gives me glimpses of what looks like a really fun movie.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Christie - It is a strange language we speak, that's for sure. Where I grew up, the endearment was 'duck'! I agree that I want to know as little as possible about the original Brothers, especially as I'm hoping much of it will be irrelevant.

Hi CWG Mr WDW is unapologetic about my cooking - wven thoug I passed on your message and said that Jake would like it. He still insists it was 'welding and that he's got a point' but all I can say to that is his 'chuffin' wrong. You should be all right using that word in London as it's not something you hear these days.

Enjoy the Bloody Mary - I love them :) I heard the Hawaii rumour too. We'll see. Is everyone having a good evening?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

^^^ Apologies for the typos - blame the Chilean red, not me ;)

CWG,thanks for that info. I was hoping you would say that they would be in NYC, as that's where I'll be. Oh well. I hope they get some nice, family, pap-free time there.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Christie - it's a rumour from a long time ago so it could be complete nonsense. I hope Jake will be in NYC for you! I would've thought he may want to spend it with Ramona and the family.

chillinwitgyllen said...

Christie, I'm headed to NYC next weekend, any suggestions on Jake hangouts? WDW?

I'm actually headed to a party right now, it's been fun ya'll and yes WDW, I have a driver, my husband.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Have a good time at the party CWG! we'll have to come up with a list for you for NYC, you lucky thing :)

Isn't anyone going to be able to upload the new footage of the Ellen show? Isn't there someone who can do this for us? Pretty please?? :* :* :) We're dyin here! ;)

I'm back @ # 103:)

Hey there gyllenfolks especially those of us in the USA.

As my granny always said, "It's an ill wind that blows nobody some good."

I just caught Jake again tonight on The David Letterman Show repeat show, and laughed my BAO at his Jake Googleballs joke. I can't remember how it went, but his drunk lady in the drawing room story is as funny as it gets.

Maybe the director of Nails will take advantage of his natural comedic sense, timing and delivery.
We many see more repeat Jake talk show episodes during the strike, because his appearance probably produced a spike in viewership.
I know I don't regularly watch Letterman, Leno, Ellen, Oprah, Kimmel or any of the other talk shows, unless a person is on that I like.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning everyone :) I hope everyone had a good night!

Anon - I'm hoping for that too...

Morning Sass - that's a treat catching the Gooberballs episode again - I watch that on the tube during my commute quite often and it never fails to make me laugh out loud. Jake's comic timing is perect.

Oh that is so great CWG, I hope you have a wonderful time. Please tell us all about it. I wonder if Jake will be in NYC as it's Maggie's birthday? And then decides to stay for Thanksgiving! We can but dream.

As for Jake hangouts, I'm afraid to say I don't know anything about where Jake hangs out, anywhere. I'll leave that in WDW's capable hands! LOL
