All things considered, the sight of Jake in shorts on a hot sunny day is something to be savoured, cherished and re-examined - and re-re-examined.
After yesterday's post on Jake's potential superhero roles, today I woke up to the announcement that Jake had signed on to be the next Spider-Man. A new film (3D no less) would be released in 2012 featuring Jake and a digitised Christopher Reeve. I fell for it, I'll admit it. And I wasn't happy - although Mr WDW's laughter did block out my cries of anguish. I got to the office, rechecked and discovered this was one of the many April Fools that had preoccupied Hollywood bloggers over the last 24 hours -Spielberg was also announced to be remaking Jaws, Harrison Ford was to revisit his role as Solo while Colin Farrell was to star in a sequel to Once - now there's a thought.

wow... Jake in shorts!! Poor baby.. I still don't understand why he had to go on holidays in such condition... i mean, does sea water help? (but he's at a pool side)... anyway, you're right, in any case, Jake in shorts is worth... re-re-re-re-re-examined :)
I don't know why I didn't fall for the spiderman joke... perhaps because that site looks kind of "filmsy" (Hollywood news or something?).... I wouldn't like it either if that's true... I am kind of anti-superhero, I'd have to say. I am more interested to see Jake play some kind of "anti-hero" instead.... well, unless Fincher is directing it!

Would it surprise anyone if I said the third one is my favourite? Thought not;) The last one, on the other hand, is going to give me nightmares!! I didn't fall for the Spiderman story, but only cos I don't take anything I read about Jake seriously these days. Btw, where are the beach pics? Or is that an April Fools joke and I've just fallen for it?

Yeah, I knew it had to be too good to be true! *WHY* do they torment me so? Jake playing Spiderman/Peter Parker is my idea of superhero perfection, and this subject comes up every once in awhile, only to be denied! ;(
Jake's ankle is still bruised and swollen???? Take care, honey. If he isn't Adonis in that third pic, I don't know who is. That Reese is one lucky woman . . grrrrr! Have I said that at least 100 times now? ;)

hey Bertie - I know, this stories comes up all the time - just to bemuse and torment us. In a couple of these pictures Jake's ankle looks horrible - he really has to take care with it, very worrying.
By the way, there's a new picture about tonight of Jake and Reese at a newsstand supposedly taken yesterday - http://www.tmz.com/2008/04/01/the-ex-husband-elephant-in-the-room/ - I may well be wrong but this picture looks fixed to me, like it combines two different sightings of Reese and Jake.

Yeah I saw that news stand picture earlier and thought the same thing. At the time I didn't know what April Fools joke you were talking about so I thought that might be it. Then I thought… that's not funny. Then again the Spiderman thing isn't funny either. The thought of it makes me gag.

Comparing other beach pix of Jake because our Adonis looks a little plumpish to me in the poolside pix. Im always overwhelmed when I look at my pictures file. he has been so generous with himself, pictures and presence, what a beautiful man!
Hard to see him struggling, though, and uncomfortable.

Glad I read about Jake playing Spiderman AFTER knowing it was an April Fools joke, otherwise I'd have been sitting at my desk saying a loud and 5-minute-long "oh noooooo!" ..I can't really say why but I can't imagine Jake as spiderman or superhero in general :-/ (btw that pic of Spider-Jake has something weird and scary to me..eughh!)
And back to half naked Jake, well yummmmmmm! Even with little weight on (I guess also because he hasn't been able to play his beloved sports in a while because of the injury), sexy sexy!

I didn't see the April Fool story until today, when WDW posted a link to it. It starts out fairly promising. "What a great idea," I said to myself, though I doubted that Jake had ever said anything derogative about Toby Maguire. I just don't think he has it in him.
The previous year's story about Brad Pitt quitting acting made me laugh, because there are *many* actors who quit acting but continue to appear in movies. ;-)

He does look as if he's a little more generously proportioned around the middle,but none the worse for that. Much of it's probably postural because he's sitting a little slumped,but in any case any man obsessed with maintaining a six-pack at all times can be a little dreary and self-obsessed.
Jake looks supremely cuddle-worthy here and looks like he could perhaps do with a bit of a hug,(form an orderly queue behind me chaps ;-) )seems a bit preoccupied with that painful ankle :-(
By the way,WDW,it wasn't the Spider-man scam that I fell for,the April Fool spoof that got me was posted on Eyelashes on DC,by none other than Chuck,our friendly neighbourhood Moderator there. He posted a link,with a warning that it was not work-safe,purportedly of some recently unearthed nude shots of Jake(as if!!!-well maybe his Mom's got some baby photos). Without giving it a second thought I hit that link! Up came a cartoon jester brandishing and "April Fool" banner. I laughed out loud at myself for being so comprehensively suckered and exposed as a voyeuse as well as a Jake-junkie! It was a comfort to me that I was by no means the only one who'd clicked on the link in the blink of an eye ;-)

I'm interested in The Sparrow, it sounds like a fabulous premise for a movie, different and interesting. And there will be a sequel, there are two books, I was happily surprised to read. If Jake doesn't do it, I hope someone does. :)

Hey Nadine - I simply adore cuddly Jake too. And I agree that to be obsessed with having a six-pack day in/day out is pretty boring (unless it's a six pack of stella, then I'm all for it). Jake looks to be having a lot of trouble with the ankle though :( I didn't see that April Fool!

I watched the 3 Kings movie last night to get more of a taste of Russell. I loved that movie, it unexpectedly made me tear up. It had all the elements, tension, humour, action - he pulled it off well. He's quite innovative in his methods and choices of directing. I watched the special edition which had his director's production diary (from casting to film premier) on it as well as behind the scenes. Mind you it was made 8 years ago but he was even shouty and animated back then. The behind the scenes stuff did hint at some tension on the set.
Not sure what to make of him, except that he comes across as passionate but with passion comes unexpected actions so who knows.
