Speedy Jake out for a Sunday run, 25 May

I may never be able to thank IHJ enough for the new pictures from LA - showing Jake Gyllenhaal jogging from Santa Monica to Brentwood with his personal trainer on 25 May. Yet again, Jake has robbed me of words (well any that make any sense or have more than syllable). Jake looks fantastic here, in amazing condition, all smiles and very speedy. Interesting shorts... I also think Jake could run faster without the top - the trainer should suggest that.

Four Feathers

This evening, Heath Ledger is on UK terrestrial TV again, this time in Four Feathers - BBC2, 9pm. I've never seen it bfore.

Pictures from IHJ, cm-life, The Cinematic Intelligence Agency.

Jake is looking fine - very PoP-ish with his hair growing in and some stubble. I think he will just embody the Prince - with long hair, goatee and the intense expression - there, I've said it, he should take the look all the way, no half-hearted attempts at such a powerful character. :) This artwork even looks like him -

Prince Dastan

Heath looks wonderful in Four Feathers too. :)

Hi anon :D Thanks so much for the link to that artwork - that's the best version I've seen of that. Excellent. While I will need to be brought round to long hair and goatee, Jake is superb at inhabiting the characters he plays, so much so I usually forget for a couple of hours that it's Jake. So he really could inhabit this Prince, with the mixture of dark and light.

Heath looks great :)

I was glad to see those jogging pictures. Jake's ankle problems are apparently behind him. :-)

Great picture, Anon! Yes Jake should "take the look all the way" - he's gonna have fun and so are we!

Ive put Four Feathers at the top of my netflix list - I love to love Heath -

Run, Jake, run!

p.s. is this a bank holiday in the UK?

Hi Paul - I love to see Jske running. His ankle looks fine from these pics :D

Hey Pia! Yes, it's the Spring Bank Holiday here - for which we have rain and gales :)

mmmmmmm..... his thick dark hair is beautiful

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anna :D Jake's hair certainly looks like it's gettig thicker and longer. Lovely :)

Here's another bit of artwork I thought was amazing because of the "motion" in it from the driving rain and I love how you can see the damp strands of hair. Actually, the first one has motion too because of his hair blowing in the wind.

I think they should go for it all with this character - long hair, goatee, hairy chest, the works! ;)

Yes, Wet Jake is always good!

The question is... is Jake going to grow his hair for the role, or he's getting hair extension?? :P

Anonymous said...

Id love to see him showing up on fall interview shows with long hair and goatee chuckle chuckle but I dont think there's time.

But I do hate the false hair! - only awkard moments of BBMt were fuzzy sideburns.

Anonymous said...

I don't like false hair either - much prefer natural, so if he has to forego the very long hair, so be it *sigh*. Natural hair is always better, or as long as it looks as natural as possible. :)

Ooh thanks Anon! Another great piece - I love these and Ireally like how you're thinking. With powerful images like this, I can just see how brilliant it could be if Jake just went for it. This contrast is interesting - the contrast between the light prince of Arabian myth (which does form some part of the game) and then the other side - the darker anti-hero, which the prince has to fight against. I only have the game to remember from about three years ago, but I'm very excited about what they're going to do with this character who has the power over time.

Great stuff, Anon. Love to hear more from you (you could pick a Prince name ;D) - you've got me thinking about this.

Talking of heroes from another world, I'm watching Beowulf this evening. I studied the poem for several years, loved it, but I'm captivated by the film interpretation.

Hi Pia! Never enough Wet Jake, that's for sure :D

Hey Winterbird - that is a very good question and it'll be interesting to watch what happens to Jake's hair as Nailed finishes, although I doubt even he could grow it this long in 6 weeks.

Hope everyone's having a great holiday, for those lucky enough to get one :)

Yummy pics! Just what the doctor ordered on a total washout of a Bank Holiday. I agree with you, WDW, I'm sure Jake would find it much easier to run with his chest exposed but maybe it means that the chest hair will be playing a starring role in POP after all and Jake is keeping it protected from the elements;)
Thanks for the artwork links, Anon:) I can really picture Jake as Dastan and it's a gorgeous mental image *swoon*

I'm with Pia on the subject of hair for POP, I'd love to see Jake grow it long:) I didn't mind the sideburns in BBM so much, but the pornstache..ewww *shudders*

Thanks also for the reminder about Four Feathers, WDW:) I'm going to record that. I still haven't finished watching The Patriot yet- I can only stomach Mel Gibson in very small measures.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi anon (are you the same anon?) - I agree - I'd prefer a character with short hair or Jake's own hair, unless they can do something clever of course.

Pia, that'd be funny wouldn't it? If Jake did publicity for Brothers looking like some exotic Persian prince from the Playstation world! I have to say that in BBM, I simply hated that tache :D I know a lot of people loved it but I cannot understand why!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey TL! Everyone's posting at once :D Aren't these lovely pics! Good point about the chesthair. I did think that it would be much easier for Jake if he could run without being hampered without all that fabric. But that's a good point about protecting his assets. Yeay, someone else with no love lost for the tache :D

I'm going to record Four Feathers too, but I fear I could be disappointed as I loved Beau Geste. I did enjoy The Patriot, even Mel Gibson in it.

twistedlogic said...

Hey WDW! How desperate do I sound, trying to convince myself that Jake will be showing loads of chest hair in POP?! :D Still, it can't do any harm to think positive ;)

The BBM pornstache and Mel Gibson are two of the yuckiest things I've ever seen on film! Off to study the running pics again to cleanse my mind(although the thoughts they inspire are far from clean, but you know what I mean...). Btw, has Jake swopped Nike for Reebok?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey TL - the pain in my heart... don't mention the change from Nike. I'm in mourning and hoping it's a passing blip, like the time Jake wore Adidas (I'm just about getting over that now). I can forgive him... (I like the trainer's shoes :D) I even considered cutting Jake's feet off the pics, but I thought that might hurt :D

Hi WDW! This is the best I could do on short notice for a Prince or Princess-ly name, too bad it's already been taken by bottled water. ;) Yes, I'm the Anon going on (and on!) about Prince of Persia. Gosh, I loved Beowulf too. This is a lot of fun to imagine Jake in this role and what they will do with it. I hope they keep us posted by the minute with updates. Speaking of Mel, haven't been too fond of him of late, but I absolutely loved him in Braveheart. :)

Hi WDW...these pics are great..my one observation is that, his legs are very hairy... I guess he is not going to be doing much bicycle riding in the near future... :-)
What in the world is going on with Nailed..geez..I keep reading..it's on...it's off...seems pretty shaky for a majorm motion picture...I have a bad feeling...thanks as always for this fab site..

Jake running to get in shape for PoP! I think it's going to be much fun filming this.
I like adventure movies mixed with a love story. I think it'll be fun watching this next summer.

UKer's hope you'll enjoy watching Heath in FF.

Thanks for the updates!

Sandy

Hi Dasani! Great name! You cannot go on enough about POP - I'm fascinated. I've just finished watching Beowulf and I love what they did with the legend, even keeping much of the language, while retaining so much of the atmosphere and spirit of the poem. I'm looking forward to seeing if they'll be as experimental with the Prince. Agreed about Braveheart.

Hi Michele :D Hopefully this is the last of the troubles for Nailed and they can get it in the can. I really hope so. Good point about the legs :D

Hey Sandy! It sounds perfect - adventure and romance with some darkness and mystery chucked into the mix.

Good to see you all :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Meant to say, apologies for the spam going on, think I've got rid of it all :\

There's probably going to be a lot more CGI effects in "Prince of Persia" than there were in "Nailed" and "Rendition." That means a lot of acting in front of blue screens, which will likely be filmed inside a studio rather than outside where Gyllenhaalics can observe the filming process. :-(

So, I doubt that PoP wil give us many opportunities to see how Jake is filming...

As the for the pornstache in BBM, I agree that fake hair in any form (including 'staches and beards) is
pretty yucky. However, I'm a moustache fan, and I would have been happy to see Jack Twist wearing a real one. So, there! :-)

Thanks for the heads up on Four Feathers - moving, compelling drama. Wes Bently was the guy I said should play Prince Dastan's enemy as he has that intensity.

Wes was extremely good in Four Feathers and I always admire American actors that can successfully pull off a British accent. I think I remember reading how close he and Heath were - one of his best friends. Apparently,(forgive me if I've said this before) Heath stepped in for him in a role as Wes was going to get sued by the studios because he didn't want to act anymore. The chemistry between Wes and Heath was apparent and between Heath and Djimon Hounsou was amazing. Wes or Djimon would be excellent working with Jake in Prince of Persia.

Four Feathers was another sterling performance from Heath and unbelievable tht there won't be any more. Unbelievable.

on blue screens, huh?

Oh, I thought these would be outside action scenes,in the desert, at historic castles

I guess not

Anonymous said...

historic minarets, perhaps; filming will be partly in Morocco.

hey WDW. this is your piece a pie, give us some pie charts, I love pie charts.

Anonymous said...

Means Reese will be in Morocco also, there is no way she'll be leaving his side

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning everyone :D

Hi Anna, I had to remove your last comments because they had links to someone's property in them, which is not appropriate here. I'm sure you understand :)

Hi Paul! Yep, I imagine much of this will be done in studios, at least in England. The exteriors will be in Morocco, one would assume.

A real tache on Jack Twist would have have been a big improvement o the thing they gave Jake to wear!

Morning Sheba :D Thanks so much for that info on Four Feathers. I've recorded it. I want to see it more than ever now.

Morning Pia! I'm looking forward to those minarets :D

Sigh, back to work today... Have a good day everyone :)

Hi WDW and everypeeps. I've not been around so much this past week as my hubby took a week's holiday to coincide with my last complete week of sick leave so I've been making th most of him:-).

I sympathise with everyone's post-Bank Holiday blues and have a mega case myself as I go back to work tomorrow after about 14 weeks off due to that pesky hysterectomy ;-)
Feels like I've forgotten everything I've learned over 30 years in the last 3 months =:-0 I need some calming vibes please WDWers!!

Maybe it will help to take my mind off tomorrow if I have another swoon and salivate over Jake's training pics.

Maybe he's keeping his pecs and abs under wraps so that we will be completely bowled over when he finally decides that he has his "Jarhead" body back and that we deserve to share it ;-p Thankfully he'll have more hair on his head than in "Jarhead" but hopefully none of it false - and I'm determined to persuade TL that, much as we both love Jake's chest hair, its temporary removal for 'PoP' would emphasise his muscular definition (especially when subtly tanned and oiled up) and would have an undeniable lickable quality. You see,I've got my mind on other things than work already!!!

I too am grateful for the heads up on "Four Feathers"WDW. I recorded it and it's stashed away with my other Heath films waiting to be watched when I can face it...18 weeks today. Rest easy, lovely man.

Oh oh,slipping down again....back to those running Jake photos....xxx

Hi Nervous Nadine - sending lots of calming vibes your way :D I hope tomorrow goes well. I'm glad that the fabulous running pics are doing you some good - they certainly are me :D Have a good day today :)

Sending out warm fuzzies wrapped up in big hugs for you especially nervous nadine. Very inspiring that you've come here and kept a good sense of spirit and humour with everything you're going through. Enjoy your time back at work.

Now I've got that pesky song in my head with talk of 'lickable Jake' - Candy Shop ;DDD I've also got in my head that hilarious episode of Friends where Ross got two 4's at the tanning salon - hope he gets it done right.

The filmmakers must get his hair right even if he has to have extensions - my only hope is that they don't ruin his beautiful thick mane.

I must say I do like the artwork. I can imagine some great posters adorning my bedroom once PoP gets underway.

Grateful hugs back to Sheba :-) xxx

Hi Sheba :D That's my favourite episode of Friends! I love the artwork. I'm printing some of it out, just amazed by it.
