My theory is that many of the comments on DL are written by straight women who have "discovered" it. Straight women from the anti-Jake boards. Can't prove it, of course but the difference between DL and Towelroad is pretty glaring.
They don't seem to have discovered Towelroad yet.
And then we have polls in which Jake (and sometimes Reese, or J/R) are consistently popular.

Even though these types of polls may not mean much to actors, I think this one is well deserved to be won by Jake because, the After Elton readers not only describe Jake's hotness which he tries to play down (impossible), they describe how Jake has demonstrated, with class and style, that stereotypes need to be challenged. Perhaps the influence of the ACLU, his godparents and other people he's come into contact with has helped him overcome his own 'fears' and embrace different communities. Outwardly, he handles these different situations really well (I say outwardly 'cos I can only go by what I see and read of him and judge for myself and sieve the rest).

I doubt that Jake actually campaigned for top spot in the After Elton poll. The results were solely a result of his fan base.
Jake and Reese still have high favorability ratings, so I would suggest ignoring the naysayers at various blogs; The anonymity of blogs gives some people a stage on which to act their own troubled scenarios. :-(

Back in the day I couldn't make up my mind if I should vote or not, cause I could understand where AfterElton was coming from when they kind of requested that only gays should vote (or something like that) - so I kept pondering "should I - or shouldn't I?" and I guess in the end I completely forgot about it...
