Updated: Jake and Reese in Paris, 13 July - Jake on a Plane

As soon as I finished today's post, whaddyaknow, new pictures emerge of Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon and gang in Paris today. Although there's not much of the hair on show today, Jake's doing the next best thing - wearing a beanie. And always good to see stripes.

It's stopped raining in London now, Jake, you can come back! More pictures here.

Edited - again! - to add some more pictures from the fabulous IHJ.

On with the post...

With all this travelling that Jake Gyllenhaal's been doing lately, I thought it might be fun to look at Travelling with Jake - The Gyllenhaal Guide to Easy Travelling. Admittedly, travelling first class does help a huge amount and that is Travel Tip No 1, but, should that be a little beyond your budget, hopefully the other suggestions on the list will help.

When Jake was in the UK back in October 2007 he appeared on London's Heart Radio for a hugely entertaining and deliciously flirtatious interview with Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott (you can read more about that and download it via a WDW upload here). A week after this show went out, Jake appeared in a snippet of a podcast discussing travel tips. I think these podcast links don't work outside the UK - in which case you are spared having to listen to Michael Winner. So this is what Jake says:

'I read that somewhere, on a piece of paper, I don't know what airline it was on - [funny PR voice] 'To help you with your jetlag, always drink plenty of water. If you wear contact lenses, take them out and don't eat too many carbohydrates' - so, I basically starve myself and drink lots of water.'

And here is a reminder of Jake's other tips for dealing with that common problem faced by all those living a jetsetting moviestar life, jetlag - just click to see the video:

Celebrity Getaway: Jake Gyllenhaal
Celebrity Getaway: Jake Gyllenhaal

Water and Exercise: 'I always feel like water and exercise - like exercising as soon as you get to a place where there's jetlag - that's like essential but water makes you keep your sanity.' Rescue Remedy: ''Stress spray or whatever it's called. It's a homeopathic stress remedy thing for flying... No it’s like, comes in drops or whatever. It's called Rescue Remedy, yeah Rescue Remedy.' Ear plugs - see the misquote in the travelling feature (the transcript does not match the video). You can read more here about this interview for an Australian travel show.

And don't forget the lollipops...

You can read a thorough account of Jake's Virgin flight to London here. Taking photos with the crew is an optional extra. Incidentally, my personal remedy for air turbulence is a double Gin and Tonic, hold the ice (it also works for jetlag).

That first pic? GUH! That's all I am going to say... LOL!

Usually I never was very fond of the pics of Jake with a beanie... But this one... THUD! And the stripes... Wonder if he thinks of Heath when wearing stipes, like so many of us do...

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Anonymous said...

I doubt it, Uli. Reese probably bought him the shirt because she thought it would look good on Jake. Full stop.

Why does everything Jake wear have some sort of relationship to Heath? That's just odd isn't it.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Uli! Hope you've had a good weekend :D I absolutely love love that first pic. I think my heart missed a beat - I also like beanies and think Jake just looks incredible in one - I love this whole look.

I sense I'm gushing but that's Jake's fault not mine - he just looks so damn good!

Me too with the stripes :)

'Everything' Jake wears?!

We're not comparing them, sct - many Brokies have a sentimental attachment to stripes - and orange - and beans - that does NOT mean Jake does! I think Jake's capable of buying his own clothes just as Reese is capable of buying her own clothes.

Uli said...

Whoa there, "stop comparing"! Tell you what: I actually don't think that I am one of the people that compare Jake and Heath, because I really don't see any sense in doing that - and I also don't think, that my post implied that I was comparing them. And I don't see why my post makes you think I would see a "relationship to Heath" in everything Jake wears. I was just thinking of myself and my thoughts when I wear stripes or when I see them on other people...
Well, and maybe Jake just bought the shirt himself, because he thought it would look good on him...

But I wish you a wonderful Sunday, too!

Jake in a Frenchy sailor's shirt and knit cap? Okay for an SNL skit, but as a "disguise" I think it's a bit of na "homage" to old films. Gimme a break, Jake!

But glad they're having fun in Paris although I miss Officer K and hope he's got an interesting gig wherever he is.

The Heart Radio interview was new for me, and fun! Thanks WDW! So thats where the "wee women pack a punch" quote comes from! Maggie, do you have an ironic response to this comment? :D :D :D As a tall drink of water myself, I shall remain Zippy Longstocking in this respect.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Sorry about that Uli :( That's not how your post read at all. When I see stripes I sometimes think of Heath - it does not make me think of Jake thinking about Heath.

However, I do think the shirt looks good on Jake :D Not everyone can get away with horizontal stripes...

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Pia! I miss Officer K too - this guy's just not the same. I was thinking about that when I saw the Eurostar pics.

I have to say I like Jake looking a little Hollywood French :D I think he looks elegant - but I admit I'm slightly biased.

I'm so glad you liked that interview - I didn't know you'd not heard that before. I hope you downloaded it all ok. I'm a wee one myself, but I won't punch 'im :D

He's so hot in these pictures!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Zodiac! Yes he is :D I'm having to eat a big bowl of vanilla icecream now because of these pics and I'm not kidding!

Uli said...

Hey, it's okay, WDW! It's just so weird... You think you make a pretty innocent post and then you see that somebody - for whatever reason - gets pissed off royally... LOL!

But I am with you, I find the striped shirt on him veeeery nice...
And I see these pics as another proof for my theory that there are several Jake Gyllenhaals out there (either to confuse us, or to give us multiple pleasure ;D), because he looks so slim in those pics - not as buff as in other recent pics... How does he do it????

Ice cream? Jake in his latest incarnation makes me wanna eat snails in a smokey bistro on the left bank and be pulled around by my hair in a hot dance sequence -

paulh said...

Did Heath ever wear stripes? I don't remember. But I remember Marcel Marceau wearing them, and Marcel is french, so when I saw the picture of Jake wearing stripes, I thought Jake was trying to look French.

The "Dress for success" people used to recommend that short, heavy set men wear vertical stripes to attract the eye toward the vertical rather the horizontal. Jake is neither short nor heavyset, so he's probably not trying to look thinner and/or taller. :-/

Yesterday I saw "Hancock," and I think it is the best movie of the year so far. Okay, there are one or too implausibilities that are a bit much, but I'll forgive them. :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Uli! I can only repeat yesterday' headline - Le Chic :P Absolutely gorgeous. I think sometimes Jake's tum is due to a not very straight posture. Nothing wrong with that here :)

Hey Pia - I'm eating a bowl of very expensive icecream and drinking a slightly less expensive bottle of wine :D

This seems like a great opportunity to remind you of my snail eating the other week in a French bistro in Le Oxford. I can also vouch that Ruby had one snail but it was a littl'un.

I can't do hot French dancing on the left bank - so I'll sit with my icecream and vin and watch you instead.

If only my French were better I'd have done the whole post in Francais :)

It's the same bodyguard (Officer K?) but with moustache and glasses.

Fun in Paris? Sorry but I don't see any fun or happiness on their faces.

Jake wears a beanie when he has no hair/lotta hair!

Anonymous said...

oh, just for the record, those of us who love the Heathens dearly, but are not of their tribe, are totally innocent of the "stripes" references.

just sayin'

oh, right, Paul, there's Marcel Marceau. I thot of Gene Kelly and Jean Paul Belmondo, myself. but that IS frenchy sailor shirt, just check out yr LLBean catalog haha.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Paul! That was my first thought too - that Jake was trying to blend in - but how can Jake Gyllenhaal blend in anywhere?...

Interesting that you liked Hancock. I have the day off tomorrow (happy grin) and I'm gonna go to the pictures. I will own up to having seen Brendan in Journey to the Centre of the Earth on Friday, so tomorrow could be Mamma Mia. But I saw the show in Vegas so how can it compare? Maybe I should see Hancock. Waffling on....

Back on topic - Jake is hot :P

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Welcome Brianne! I really don't think that is Officer K - looks like a different face all together and a different build, but I do admit to having hailed an ambulance thinking it was a bus...

I do agree that Reese looks a little glum but I'm too distracted by the beanie to assess Jake's mood. Thanks for commenting :D

Pia, we need a French evening, but I cannot bring myself to drink old world wine...

and Im drinking an Aussie shiraz tonight but I love french wines, french men, french films, Proust, Colette -

am I un-PC! illuminate me, girl!

I also totally thought of Heath when i saw Jake's clothes. Totally something Heath would wear. Jake and Reese look good. They're probably having a great time in Paris. :)

Thanks for the piccies WDW. :)

Hugs,

Sandy

"Did Heath ever wear stripes?"

Paul if you check out Heath's pictures you will see that he very, very often wore stripes. ;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Ooh Pia, thanks so much for that link. I see friends there :)

I have a Peugeot so car-wise I'm very old worldy but wine-wise I'm new worldy all the way! And I'm drinking a Californian Zinfandel this evening. I've also only eaten icecream today so I'm fast becoming tipsy in a new worldly type of way :D

Hi Sandy! I reckon that Jake and Reese must be having a good time in Paris - I can't think of anyone going there and not. I love the cafes and bars and people watching there (can't afford the shops). And yes, Heath wore stripes often and so well :)

Anonymous said...

I paid a fortune for one tank top in Paris that I have worn out but still remember - striped! blue and black - (just bought an LL bean replacement, in memorium)-

Jake, I shall grab you by your gorgeous long hair and drag you about the floor of a paris bistro while eating snails. . . :D :D

Anonymous said...

Paris is beautiful, one day I plan to visit Paris again. At the moment I can't afford it. :(

Anonymous said...

Sorry, 21:00 is me Sandy.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Pia, I think Jake could be up for that :D I have to say that one of my abiding memories of Paris is the flippin' traffic :\

I hope you get there again, Sandy :) It is a beautiful place.

what is that dance calld, where the hunky guys drag women about by their hair?

God, I just imagined this scene. Can't stop laughing. Pia, you're on fire today:)

Good evening, WDW and chums. :D
Nice to have some sunshine here at last, maybe Jake will come back now..

Uli - I am often reminded of Heath when I see a guy wearing stripes and seeing these pics of Jake was no exception. :)

WDW - it was a very large snail and I'm sure it was still wiggling a little. Since I usually respond to snails by stomping on them when I find them in my garden, I think I did ok. :)

Anonymous said...

Hey Zodiac! You remind me that my first response to Jake in frenchy striped shirt was

zut alors! (hot shit?)

Ruby! You have to have a couple of mojitos before eating snails in soaked in garlic and butter. Maybe a few.

Ruby said...

Funny you should say that Pia, I'm pretty sure I had :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Zut alors indeed! I don't know what that dance is - the Tango or the Neanderthal Rock. Chuckles to Pia and Zodiac - you two can show me the dance and I'll follow :)

Hey Rubes! They were big snails and a tiny little fork thing to eat them with. You did ok! But I'm not eating slugs, not even if Jake eats them...

It's perfect weather for Jakes now :D

Pia, we had a lot more than mohitos from what I remember... which is not alot.

I'm another one who always associates stripey clothes with Heath. I'll be wearing a stripey top when I go to see TDK.

I can't listen to the podcast(quelle surprise) but if Jake never wants to suffer from jetlag again, I have the perfect solution - just come back over here and never leave;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi TL! Damn, sorry you can't hear the podcast. It's very brief. That's an excellent solution to Jake's jetlag dilemma so I hope he takes note. I have to find some stripes :) Hope you're having a good evening!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Just added a few more pics from IHJ :D

KeepCalm+CarryOn said...

Hi WDW. Only time for a quick skim now (TL tipped me the wink that there were new pictures up ;-) ).

I shall be back tomorrow to catch up on the weekend's posts, butI have to say that as a practicing "Heathen" I too associate stripes, orange and beany hats with Heath. I try to wear orange, stripes or both every Tuesday when another week since he passed ticks by...STC at 19.35 may think that makes me deranged but what the heck ;-)

I miss the guy. I'm willing to bet that Jake misses him much more...but that's just my gut instinct,I'm not claiming any inside knowledge.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Nadine! I miss the guy too and it's good to remember him in these ways. See the new post. Jake said during the lunch that he did go to the LA memorial. Always guessed that but good to hear :)

I wouldn't know a French sailor if I bumped into one (zut, alors!), but I love French culture, having spent 10 years studying the language. I have French friends who tell me that some parts of France are not very safe to go to, especially after dark. :-( When I went to Italy last summer, PIN thieves at the Rome airport stole my ATM number and PIN and then rushed to Aix-en-Provence to spend my hard-earned cash. :-(

I am wondering how much control Disney is going to exert over Jake's private life during the filming of "Prince of Persia." :-(
As a former union official, I don't take kindly to having big employers treat the little guy badly.
