I'm afraid to say that, again, circumstances beyond my control have dictated the direction in which this post is pointing. While enduring a day so bad that it deserves to have poems dedicated to it, I managed to escape to buy a magazine in Borders. Before I could say 'Does my bum look fat in this?', I was swept up in a book signing by those doyennes and piranhas of British fashion Trinny and Susannah (of What Not To Wear). They did not disappoint; they pulled and pinched and tweaked and squeezed the poor girls queuing up to have their books signed. By keeping a pregnant woman and two small infants, plus a display of this season's newest thrillers, between me and the scarey duo, myself and my sensible North Face raincoat escaped unscathed.
I realise that readers beyond these shores may have been spared the 200 hours of Trinny and Susannah programming with which we in the UK are afflicted each year, but, just to be fair, here is a clip of the two in action. If the video clip doesn't work in your region, then, honestly, you're lucky.
Coincidentally, or not, when Jake was seen out and about in London last Friday, his scarf drew attention. It was identified as being this season's stripey cashmere must-have, from Inhabit. Although at $318, it costs a fair amount a foot.
So, it seems a good point tonight to discuss Jake's masterly use of an accessory. Although seen on only rare occasions in that least scarf-like of climates, Los Angeles, it's a frequent sight in those more temporal cities of New York and London, and, whether it sets off an outfit for display or is simply to keep its wearer warm, surely no one wears a scarf like Jake Gyllenhaal.
And finally
It was good to see another fan video from the steps of the Palais today, reminding me of that golden day back in May 2007 when Jake celebrated in Cannes. It also reminds me just how fortunate I was to be right up there at the front to see it all first hand.
Includes pictures from IHJ and WDW.

(((WDW))) At least your day is mostly over. Hopefully tomorrow will be much better.
As for stirring comments *rolls eyes* Thank you for removing them.
Jake looks sooo sexy in scarves!! Love all the different versions of them. ;p
Actually, What Not To Wear with Trinny and Susannah has been a mainstay for a couple of years now on BBCAmerica. I do have to confess I have watched many an episode. And they have been on Oprah a bunch of times. But you are quite lucky not to encounter their wrath. There is also an American version that I have not really liked at all.
Woah...wtf?!?
Thnank you Get Real and for the emails too xxx Ever had one of those days you want to end?!
I'm very sorry to hear that the BBC has inflicted Trinny and Susannah on you as well? Because I'm a Nike, hoodie and jeans girl, I'm always being threatened with them. I don't think they'd have any worries with how Jake dresses, and he looks amazing in a cashmere scarf :D (Just as well considering the time of year...)
Have a wonderful evening :D
Ah, the scarf... he wears it so well. There's a picture of Jake in a scarf when he was at the premier of Mona Lisa Smile with Maggie and his hair was cropped very short. OMGosh, that picture shows him so serenely beautiful, even Maggie can't help but touch him. I guess though, for her it will be probably the same as we feel about our brothers 'what's all the fuss about? He's my brother - the dork.' :DD

For you (((((((WDW))))))) looks like you need lots tonight ;D
(((Sheba))) Thank you :) And thanks for the links to the pics. On top of everything else I've had technical probs this evening so I wasn't able to search for other scarf pics - so thanks for the Mona Lisa pics. I do like that film... And Jake, he's not bad either!
Jake's scarfs caught my eyes a long time ago. I do respect a man who knows how to wear them.
Now...tell me when you saw this kid looking bad. He's amazing.
Hey, sorry to hear you had another horrible day yesterday - which, considering your first comment, obviously kept being horrible... :-/
LOL at you avoiding those two ladies (never heard of them before...) and saving your Northface coat from them. I guess I'd better stay clear of them, too! Hehe, I sometimes wonder what people in a "before and after" show would make out of me... We had them for a while here in Germany and sometimes I watched them, but in my opinion all the women looked the same in the end... It was not about the person, but just about how you (=everybody) should look like in that season...
The whole first paragraph of your post really made me LOL!
Good idea to revisit Jake and his scarfs - just right for the season! I am sure the new one is so soooooooooft!
About the Cannes video: I found the music playing somehow irritating - especially Stevie Wonder in the beginning (ahem, might have to do with the fact that I am not the world's biggest fan of his music and voice...). Wasn't that weird? It feels so out of place. I would have expected something a little bit more unobtrusive, discreet, like some of the instrumentals especially written for the soundtrack? Or does it feel totally natural when you are there in the big crowd?
Well, I hope your day will be better today!!! At least it is Friday!!!!
Hugs!
Ah, to be that scarf...;)
Sorry you had a horrible day yesterday WDW, hope today things will get better for you. :*
And a great weekend to everyone (and some new Jake pics, please)! :)
Good morning everyone! How happy am I that it's Friday :D
Hi there MgMyself and welcome :D he is amazing and certainly knows how to wear a scarf - to fit any occasion :D
Hey Uli! Makeover shows are so funny and irritating all at the same time. I fear they'd have a hard job with me. I'm glad you've been spared these two in Germany!
The music in Cannes was weird but it soon turned into music from the Zodiac soundtrack and it was incredibly atmospheric - seeing Jake and the others climb the steps to the sound of Santana. I can't hear the soundtrack now without thinking of that day. Thanks for the hugs!
Morning Xenia! Hopefully, today will be much better. New pics would be good...
Have a lovely Friday everyone :D
Hey honey - picked up this bit of news: apparently the Gyllenhaal parents are splitting up. Naomi's filed for divorce. Thought I'd give you the head's up, even though I'm pretty sure you already know. ;)
*hugs*
Hey elfie :D Good to see you - hope you and yours are well. I know, this is sad news. Thanks for the hug, please have one back :)
Hello all. Hope you have a great Friday and a special (((WDW))).
I am very sorry to hear about the Gyllenparents. :( I had heard talk for a while now but took it with a grain of salt as it is gossip. But to see it official really saddens me. Divorce is hard on a family at any time. They seemed to be a very close unit and I hope they all get through this as best as possible.
Sorry, I can't think about Jake's scarves now that Stephen and Naomi's divorce is on my mind. I feel as if I almost know them (though not well).
But divorcing after 30 years is probably not that unusual. My uncle and aunt did it. Sadly, the divorce set in motion other events that were even more traumatic for the family. The divorce alone we could have adjusted to, but the other stuff still haunts us. :-(
It does remind me of one joke, from the 1960s era comedy album:
"We're getting a divorce."
"But you've been married 65 years. Why now?"
"Enough is enough."
Hi everyone
Hope you are having a better day today WDW. The weekend has finally arrived :)
Just read that about the Gyllenhaals. It's really sad news. I hope they will all get through this difficult time without intrusion from the media.
Paul, if you and I feel that way about the divorce I can only imagine what Jake and Maggie must feel. :(
And I still can be distracted by the beautiful pics of Jake in a scarf! ;)
(((Get Real))) Better day today, thank you and now definitely ready to relax. This is sad news, but, as you say, it's sounded like it's been on the cards for a while. Never easy to see it in black and white and hard for children as adults, I think.
Hi Paul :) It runs in my family too and it's difficult for the kids because there's not a lot you can do about it.
Hey Carol :D Thank heavens it's the weekend! I do so agree - I hope they're left alone, this is private family business. I am having a better day, thank you :)
I like to be distracted too, Get Real :D
