Scary Night, Scary Jake, Scary Movie

It's that spooky time of year again. Although Halloween is not as big an affair in the UK as elsewhere (we enjoy burning effigies on Bonfire Night instead - accompanied by mulled wine, hot potatoes, fireworks and frightened pets), here is a look at how Scary Jake Gyllenhaal could take the genre of the Horror Movie to new heights of terror. In Scary Jake Land noone can hear you scream...

Jake has already been through the basics of the ritual of Halloween, so Scary Boot Camp will be short.

If needs be, Jake could make use of any weapon at hand to reduce us to shivers (or pieces).

Jake is used to communing with figures from beyond the grave, such as Grandma Death, and giant rodents hold no fear for him.

If you're going to be a Horror Movie star, then you need to have suitable Scary Transport.

You must also be able to sweat through fear to order.

If needs be, substances may help to get you into the right scary frame of mind.

Jake has had experience of Scary Movie Moments. These include prehistoric creatures, army food, extreme temperatures, Godforsaken environments, excessive clothing and face paint...

...Not to mention, haircuts snatched from the jaws of hell itself.

In the Prince of Persia, evil spells and spirits will be commonplace and Jake will have a battle on his hands.

In the pictures below, we see evidence of Jake rehearsing for his horror breakthrough role.

Maybe in the future, we will even get Stepford Jake...

Fabulous post! I especially love Jake's Abracadabra pose! He'd hypnotize and mesmerize anyone.

I've always loved Halloween, lots of happy childhood memories of dressing up as horrible creatures and running around outside in the dark, I guess. And too much candy. Happy Halloween! :)

Hope everyone who celebrates has a great Halloween. ;)

A special hello to Trekfan for the wonderful card she sent me, which brightened my day!

Hi there Winterbird! I wouldn't mind watching Donnie Darko again too. I do find a couple of those photoshoot outfits scary...

I've turned my heating on tonight, first time this year - sigh. Have a good night!

Hi Zodiac! I've always thought Jake's similarity to a tube of toothpaste to be uncanny :D (or not...) Hope you're having a good night!

Blimey, it's freezing out there tonight. I hope Jake's ok experiencing a rather chilly English halloween as opposed to an LA one - maybe he'll go out to a bonfire display for Guy Fawkes Night on the 5th :)

Oh, I am late... But Happy Halloween to everybody!!!

OMG, scary pictures! Especially the last one, LOL! Didn't expect to see it again so soon here! What a nice surprise, hehe!

Yesterday I had a long drive to a meeting somewhere and on the radio I heard that James Bond had its premiere in London with many "celebreties" attending... I suddenly got the idea how nice it would be if Jake was amongst them and we could see him in a nice suit with a ponytail or something, whatever - as long as it would have been without a beanie!!!! Would have loved to see him with long hair on such an occasion! I really thought it would have been possible, with him being in London and his PoP costar being in James Bond, but, damn, it obviously wasn't meant to be...

I hope everyone is well, not so much sneezing for WDW anymore...
Winter arrived in Germany yesterday - I saw snow on my drive and it even stuck! But no snow where I live yet, phew!

Good morning everyone! It is far too cold and grey out there so I think we should all stay in, eat soup and hot bread, and watch Jarhead. I'm contemplating opening the airlock to see Bond and Gemma.

I hope everyone who wanted a scary night had one!

Waves to Monica!

Hey Jenny the Pirate :D Love that pumpkin picture you emailed - blurgh... I may never eat an orange vegetable again.

Hi Winterbird! Too cold to be out - I hope your dinner was hot. I wonder what Jake got up to, maybe he curled up with a good movie next to a roaring fire. Sigh :) Tequila's always good. I've dusted my bottle off for the winter :D

Morning Uli! Needlesstoday, I thought of you when posting that scariest of all pictures - Stepford Jake UkelUli. You're not the only one wistfully wondering if Jake might have made an appearance at the Bond premiere. I've been trying to picture The Hair with a suit and failing so Jake should make an appearance simply to satisfy my curiosity.

I'm not sneezing anymore, thank you :) We had some snow here last week, very unusual round here. Keep warm :D

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning, everyone!

Tired after Halloween parties?:)

It's a beautiful day here today. Warm and sunny. I hope you don't mind that I mention that today is All Saints' Day-a feast celebrated on November 1 in Western Christianity.

In Poland,(and also the Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Austria,Hungary, catholic parts of Germany, Spain,Portugal) the tradition is to light candles and visit the graves of deceased relatives. And to remember all who's passed away and were (and still are) dear to our hearts.

So,to all the people of the cinema world who were with us and made our world better and made us cry and laugh and believe: to Heath,Brad Renfro, Paul Newman, Anthony Minghella,Sydney Pollack,Isaac Hayes, who all died this year and many, many others- thank you and we'll remember you and your work.

Morning (afternoon already in my time zone) everyone, great post WDW! Like Winterbird said it makes me watch DD again & I was sure Uli would be pleased at ukulele-Jake, a scary pic indeed!
For me perhaps the really scariest Jake film scene is in Jarhead where he almost shoots the other soldier and I think Jake said he chipped his own tooth with the rifle he was handling?
I was riveted to the screen, I was really believed Jake became Swoff there...

Have a great weekend,
Paola

What a lovely tradition, Uli. Thank you! :)

^^Sorry, I meant to say Zodiac. :)

You are not even that far off, anon! I also live in a place where All Saints is celebrated. And although I am not a "believer", you are right, it is a lovely tradition... Yeah, makes me think of Heath, especially since I got a bit teary eyed about him again a few days ago...

LOL, I have another lovely tradition too, though... Driving people crazy with my love for Stepford Jake!!!

The Donnie pics just had me wondering... A few days ago we had the 20th anniversary of the "almost end of the world"...

Oh, and a very sad anniversary is coming up in a few days... November 7th... Sigh... (for the not that Brokeback fixated here: the meeting of Jack and Ennis that was not to happen...)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Afternoon Zodiac :D Glad to hear it's sunny and warm over there today - we should come over and bring Jake with us.

That is a lovely tradition - and thought. Thanks for sharing it with us :)

Hi Paola! Oh, that is a scarey scene, and so powerful. I can't decide what to watch today, DD or Jarhead.... Tht pic of Jake is truly terrifying and I should have posted it with a warning. Hope you're having a good weekend.

Hi Anon :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Uli - you've definitely driven me crazy with Stepford Jake :D Gotta wonder what Jake thinks of it - maybe he has it hanging on his wall, or he had it printed on towels. Thanks for the anniversary reminder, sweet and bitter.

Uli said...

If I ever meet Jake (yeah, right... dream on...) I will ask him about the pic, LOL!!!

Yeah, I still really miss Heath too. I never know how I'm going to feel when I watch his films - especially Brokeback. Sometimes I'll tear up just watching them bring the sheep up the mountain - other times I'll feel great comfort and smile. He was something getting out of that truck, wasn't he? I still haven't watched A Knight's Tale yet. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon :D Heath really did look something else getting out of the truck :) Do watch Knight's Tale - I love that film so much and Heath is absolutely gorgeous in it.

Waves to Uli!

I know what you mean about BBM, Anon 14:14. I never know what my reaction will be at the start of the movie. I DO know that I will eventually cry buckets but I never know when. It seems to change every time.

And do watch A Knight's Tale. It's a very fun movie and I love the choice of music, that mix of modern songs with a medieval setting. And yes WDW, Heath was sure gorgeous in it. It was the first of Heath's movies that I saw and he was the reason I went to see BBM.

"we should come over and bring Jake with us."

Oh, please do come over:) Everyone's welcome and Jake would love it here, I live in a beautiful city.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Olympia :D Me too, I know I'll always cry, it's just a matter of how much. I think now when I watch BBM, I appreciate it more. I love the mix of music and history in Knight's Tale, and the clothing etc. It has so much gong for it. That's the first film I saw Heath in too.

That sounds wonderful, Zodiac :) I always imagine you living in lovely scenery :D

Hope everyone's having a good day and, if they live round here, ignoring the absolutely vile weather :(
