Jake Gyllenhaal - the 'anti-hunk' hunk

Now the US election is over, we can focus on what really matters, and that is Jake Gyllenhaal on ET tonight (hopefully, if the schedulers don't decide to bump the feature to make way for more election specials). While, no doubt, many Gyllenhaalics are nervous, indeed fearful, of our very first glimpse of Jake all bare-chested, armoured and English-accented, moving, speaking, fighting as Prince Dastan, this enterprise represents a step in a new direction for Jake and marks a period of change for our nation.

Where was I...? Oh yes, fingers crossed Jake will be on ET today and we will get a look in virtual 3D of the walking, talking, battling Prince, complete with chest hair, biceps and flashing blue eyes. This prospect can only remind me of how Jake was described back in 2004 by Roland Emmerich as an 'anti-hunk'. The 'anti' can now be safely deleted and replaced by 'gobsmacking', or words to that effect.

Roland told the New York Post in May 2004: '"He always looks so intelligent," Emmerich says. "He takes acting really seriously." In fact, at one point on the "Tomorrow" shoot, 250 extras waited for two days in the New York Public Library as Gyllenhaal did take after take on a crucial speech. "I kept telling him, 'Jake, it's easy,'" Emmerich says. "But he was so caught up in making the scene real that he just couldn't get it. He nailed it at the end of the second day. Everyone burst into applause."... In "Tomorrow," Gyllenhaal's love interest is 17-year-old Emmy Rossum ("Mystic River"). Their big moment comes after they get soaked by freezing-cold water and escape into an abandoned store. "Jake strips down to his shorts, and Emmy puts her arms around him - it's very erotic," Emmerich says. "He may be an anti-hunk. But he's in great shape."'

It's good to hear that, no matter how good an actor Jake most certainly is, certain directors know that a good actor can also be a sight for sore eyes, and vice versa. With Jake we have the best of both worlds.

And finally...

Elizabeth Banks, the actress who recently told the world of how she had the unbelieveable treat of trying out a scene as Juliet to Jake's Romeo and then failed to recognise Jake when he came up to chat to her, has been talking again about how she is not interested in Jake. Here is Elizabeth describing why she is not in the rags: 'I'm not trying to have Jake Gyllenhaal's baby. I'm not a major fashionista. I'm not going through a lesbian phase. I'm just normal. I'm just really freakin' normal.' If it hadn't have been for the first part of the statement, I might have agreed with her.

Good night, wet dark!
Today! But I think I will just see tomorrow!
The important thing is to see.
I hope it will be more than 30 seconds!

Elizabeth Banks's comment was funny!: D

Night, Girls.

Did I mention that I watched "Boys don't Cry" and actually found Peter Sarsgaard good looking, for the very first time?
I think I did, but you know...I'm old, I forget things.

I like Elizabeth Banks. I just watched the trailer for"Zack and Miri make a Porn" and she looks great.

Hi Monica :D OMG Peter is absolutely gorgeous and he is so sexy - that voice of his... I'm very biased... and oh, Kinsey! He's really good looking and self-aware in real life too.

Oh, yes. He's great and good in Boys Don't Cry.
You watched The Salton Sea? I love Peter's performance in this film.

Hey Monica :D I've not see the Salton Sea. Thanks for telling me about it :)

My goodness, that fourth pic is gorgeous, WDW! I'm going to watch ET in a few. :0

Hi Anon :D It is a lovely pic. I hear there's no sign of PoP on ET yet, in fact not a mention :( So I wouldn't be surprised if it is on on the 10th instead :( But still some time left!

Well, disappointingly it looks like it wasn't on ET tonight, so we'll have to see what happens tomorrow. This election has played havoc with the schedules... the price of democracy is Late Jake :(

Dang, Jake wasn't on ET. I'll bet it was because of the election. The only fun thing was that even Michelle Obama has a celebrity crush - she said it was Will Smith! ;)

Good morning! What a bummer! :-/ I admit the ET thing about PoP was not the first thing I had on my mind when I woke up, but during breakfast I suddenly remembered - ran over to IHJ and then... Nothing :( Hoping for the 10th now...

Elizabeth Banks? Who is this woman anyway?? LOL! Although I agree with her about Johnny Depp - wouldn't mind being with him in a small space, too! When I can't have Jake, I would take Johnny... ;)

Jake meeting this lady makes me remember the sweet story about Jake and Ellen Pompeo meeting before they met again for Moonlight Mile... That sure was a much nicer encounter for both of them, than what Elizabeth Banks describes...

Have a good day everyone - phew I am glad it is Friday!

Good morning everyone! Beautiful day here today, which is just as well as I stayed up very late for the non-ET event... :(

Hi Anon! It was strange for me, as I couldn't actually see ET myself but I had it described to me as it went on :D Hopefully Monday, then. Fingers crossed (again).

Morning Uli! Thank heavens it's Friday, that's for sure. Maybe you have a think for actors whose names start with J? I loved the Jake and Ellen story and it made their onscreen relationship so much more tingly :D

Have a good day everyone - I need to find somewhere quiet to have a nap...

Awwww, still no Jake after all this anticipation. What a week though! Never mind baby *strokes white cat seductively*... I can wait :DD

There is something so self-assured and knowing about Peter that is sexy in a way that has nothing to do with his looks (although his eyes are very sexy). I could imagine having strange and wonderful talks with him about the most obscure subjects for hours :D

Lizzy Banks has got it about right with men - love the way she describes her husband...and this is priceless...

"every man wins the lottery when he gets a woman to love him"

These farting, burping men we love (Jake included) .. ours is not to reason why ... but that's what makes them so special :DD

Off to work now - Have a great weekend everyone xx

I've always thought about the scene wehere Emmy is trying to warm Jake up embracing him as really erotic, glad Emmrich agrees with me. :)

I'm so disappointed with ET delaying the PoP Special, I was desperately looking forward to watch Jake in action again! It's been more than a year, damn it!

WDW, there are some news (don't know how creditable they are though)about Fincher's Torso going around the internet. I'm sure you already know but I'll post the link anyway, just in case:

Link.

Have a good week-end. :)

I love that scene where Emmy is "warming Jake up" too. ;) Jake has the look down in his facial expression, as Elizabeth Banks and Sheba say, when he realizes he might have "won the lottery" - and for we women too, it's the same. We love 'em. Cute!

Hi Sheba! Peter is so sexy and sharp. Yeah, he'd be great to have a long chat with in the pub - a bit of kitchen philosphy.

Hey Xenia :D Thanks for the link, I've been following the reemergence of Torso. I was disappointed too last night :( There aren't many scenes in TDAT I don't like, but I particularly like that scene - lucky Emmy :)

Hi Anon :D I do love that moment - I'm taking it easy this evening, maybe it should be with TDAT - it was Jarhead last weekend.

Have a great evening and weekend everyone! Jake, if you're out shopping again in London and feel a bit lost, I'll be delighted to help... :)
