Jake Gyllenhaal - ideal date material (and not just for Thanksgiving either...)

With a holiday weekend approaching on one side of the pond - but very definitely and disappointingly not on this side of the pond - dating agencies have been casting around to identify just who is the ideal dinner date to take home and make polite conversation with the mum and dad. It's no surprise to see that Jake Gyllenhaal is in the top 4, only beaten by Hollywood royalty, real royalty and Tom Brady (I wikid him - he's sporting royalty).

And in the selection of ladies, the top four are co-stars of Jake, with the lovely Jennifer at the head of the list, followed by Reese, Anne and Jessica - with Natalie further down the list of desired dates.

There is a disadvantage to taking Jake home as your date - your family may take too great a shine to your date, or Jake may be too big a distraction from the nut roast.

But Jake has demonstrated carving skills...

the art of polite conversation...

witty repartee and...

a healthy appetite.

Jake is also considerate...

and adorable...

and scrubs up quite well. Yep, Jake, you'll do.

The problem of having Jake to dinner at home is: which members of your family will fall for him? Your mother? your daughter? your maid? All at the same time?

:)

Hi Monica O! I think it's fair to say he'd be safe with none of them. Better take Jake to a quiet restaurant. (I need a maid...) :D

I'm watching Mamma Mia on DVD - I apologise if you can hear me singing along...

hey, that's a great topic for a Jake post. Although who care about bringing Jake home? He can skip my parents' dinner and go straight to my room... :P so we can... discuss BBM and Zodiac... lol :)

hey Winterbird! You're quite right - miss out the family bit altogether and get straight on to dessert.. and discuss the meaning of Donnie Darko... :D

Christ! I was trying to behave, Winterbird! Now that you opened the door I may say that I totally agree with you!

And no quiet restaurant...let's have dinner in bed, so we'll have something to thank on the 27th.

:)

Chuckle, I think we need to introduce Thanksgiving to the UK :DD

Hope everyone's having a good evening - I'm going to be singing Abba songs all night :D

Love your post, WDW! LOL at Carving skills and Witty repartee, and the pics next to them! :-D

...Yeah, Jake/Jack didn't need an electric carver for his turkey...

;-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Anna! Glad you liked it :D Oh, that electric carving knife - what a horrendous invention... takes me right back to the 70s. I fear that if Jake came round to dinner I would just stare at him and dribble - not particularly attractive... :D

Are you still sining Abba songs? OMG! ;)

LOL, how weird is it that the top four of the dinner date ladies all have been Jake's co-stars??

And you picked great dinner pics of Jake's movies! Reminds me again how long it has been since I last watched Moonlight Mile...

Hm... Need to put that on the long movies-I-need-to-watch-again list...

Missing the dinner pic from Zodiac, though! Jake was so incredibly cute in that scene in the restaurant! ;D

I am indeed, Uli! Mr WDW has put the headphones on... OMG you are right, that is such a great dinner scene.. I must make amends!

Updated the post! Thanks Uli *)

Great! Thanks for the update! :-* I wanna take the Zodiac-dinner-Jake home with me!!!!

Good night, wet dark!
Jake in my house at Christmas? hum ...
Would not want to discuss some scenes with him. I want to play some scenes!
For example: the dance of Jarhead!
He could dance for me!: D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Uli, you'll have to form an orderly line behind me :D

Hi there Monica! Quite right, don't bother with the food, get straight down to the Jarhead dance! :D

Great post WDW with very appropriate pictures:)

Dinner would most definitely be the last thing on my mind if I was having dinner with Jake. I'd skip straight to dessert and beyond...

Thanks for including Zodiac dinner Jake. It's one of my favourite scenes of his in the movie. I just Iove him in it.

Hope your enjoying Mamma Mia WDW. It's so much fun and Meryl's voice is really good. Both my other half and one of my best friends had to leave the room when I started singing over the weekend. Guys just don't get it.

Off topic has anyone come across a Jake 2009 calendar. I have been looking and I can't seem to find one.

Have a great evening:)

Thanks Carol :D I'm afraid to say that Mr WDW wore a grimacing expression throughout Mamma Mia (I didn't like to mention that I have Wall-E for tomorrow...).

I cannot find a calendar anywhere. The shop here where I normall buy them says they've discontinued Jake. I was not happy :D That will never happen when PoP comes out. I'm still searching, but I may get one made up myself.

Have a good evening!

Yeah, they've discontinued his calendars - I guess because there have not been very many new pictures at premiers etc. except for .... well damn it - I'm not going to make excuses for them. They could have used images from Cannes, Baftas and Rome if they really wanted to. Who's gonna start a petition otherwise I'll just have to recycle my calendar :o(

For example: the dance of Jarhead!
He could dance for me!: D

Hehehe.... it's nearly christmas so bring on the Jarhead santa hat dance. Unfortunately, my 8 year old came in whilst I was watching Jarhead and saw that scene. Now, every day when he has a shower, he comes down singing OPP and does the santa hat dance to me wiggling his bum. The first few months were really cute but now .... still it hasn't put me off the real/fake thing.

BTW Love the Donnie Darko "I'm all ears" pic. Love the sulky, smart mouth, sarcastic kid. I must watch that again over christmas. But hey.. What about Holden eating those berries his lover is trying to kill him with. Jake's a cute eater. You can tell a lot from a person by the way they eat - so I'm told.

My ideal date with Jake would be breakfast..........

.... again, form an orderly line ;D

Thanks for the info WDW. That's like what I was told aswell. Discontinued Jake - that just sounds wrong:(

You're right that will never happen once PoP comes out. I was thinking of asking a friend who's good with computers to do something up for me aswell. I do like to spend the year with Jake:)

Wentworth Miller is the no 1 selling calendar where I buy. Nice and all as he is, he is still a very poor sustitute for Jake:)

Hey WDW, can you help me?
I know I've seen a picture of Jake when he was a baby, but now I can't remember where.
(I'm aging, ladies...)
Do you know where I can see it again?

Please?

xoxo

Hi Sheba! It's just not right - I will continue to hang up my Jake calendars in protest. Oh blimey, sounds like your son could be a Jake in the making! That's a good scene in Good Girl - thanks for the reminder. I don't often watch that film as I find it too depressing - I want Jake and Jen to make a merry film :D

Hey Carol :D I just can't put anyone else up on my wall but Jake so I'll have to have a go at making one myself. After PoP we'll have Jake calendars coming out of our ears.

Hi Monica O :D I don't think I've ever seen a picture of Jake as a baby nothing younger than the picture of Jake with an owl on his head :)

Anonymous said...

So thats what it was on his head! He wanted to be a bird, maybe he wanted to be an owl. His Indian Native American animal sign is Owl and a lot of his movies have owls in them. He wears a lot of clothes that have birds on them. Maybe the child in him still wants to be a bird.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Good morning everything - just love the sound of scraping ice off the car in the morning...

Hi there Soar! Jake definitely has real affection for owls :D I did a post a while back on Jake's dream of flying and how it seems to continue in his clothes etc. I like that, speaking as someone who has a real thing for penguins and ducks (the standing up ducks)!

Have a good day everyone!

Thankgiving is one of those Hallmark Holidays, in my experience. Among fellow New Yorkers T'G would generally mean goin' to the Shangai restaurant in Chinatown.

There's a lit Christmas tree in the center of town already. Yikes!

When holidays hit, I duck.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Me too, Pia :) There are Christmas trees every which way here. No Thanksgiving for us, unfortunately...
