Jake's leading lady who came back for more

After all the excitement of the last few days, tonight's post is intended as a brief diversion and includes one of my favourite pictures of Jake with a leading lady. Here we have Jake Gyllenhaal with a rapturous Catherine Keener, who has of course been doubly fortunate and has been Jake's co-star not once (Lovely & Amazing), but twice (Nailed).

This connects to an interview Jake did for Australian magazine Cleo's charmingly entitled 'Spunk of the Month' feature, in advance of the release of The Good Girl and Moonlight Mile. While we learn that Jake had made out (in a movie sense...) with Brad Pitt's then wife (Jennifer Aniston) and Brad's friend (Catherine Keener), we also read:

'My sister Maggie's an actor, too, and we have a little brother, but we chopped his legs off and threw him in the closet - otherwise there would have been too much competition.' And if Jake ever should be searching for that 'wonderful, smart, probably non-American girl' ('Just kidding.'), can I make a suggestion?

Totally off topic, but today I walked through the streets of London's West End and Soho, illuminated by some spectacular Christmas lights and decorations. I loved the giant, fluffy snowmen floating and bobbing over Carnaby Street and wanted to post a picture or two. I hope Jake's managed to find some time as PoP finishes to check out the atmospheric shopping streets of London.

Scans from WDW and picture from IHJ.

Oh my, what a lucky woman Catherine Keener is - I like this pic a lot. ;)

I still haven't seen Lovely and Amazing, and really should.

Carnaby Street looks beautiful. :)

Hi Shy Anon :D I like this pic a lot too :D I think Jake has a fan there! You really should see Lovely & Amazing, I liked it more than I thought I would.

Carnaby Street is lovely, and it was a relatively warm night this evening so lots of people sitting outside the bars.

Hey Atti! That would be great :D Can you bring Jake?

Catherine Keener knows what's good in life.

Non-American girl? This is something new. I won't go into this, cause you keep contradicting yourself, Jacob.

This snowman is wonderful, WDW. Now, what you need in London, is a little bit of snow.

Good night and sweet dreams about bathing hot Prince in a hot Persian bath:)

I miss strolling along the streets of Soho.

Hey Zodiac! Jake is so cheeky :D The snowmen were wonderful - but, yes, we need some snow - London gets it so rarely. Have you any yet?

No, we don't, WDW. Actually, it's still quite warm. I love the snow.
I remember going sledging in the outskirts of London in winter 2007. Unbelievable:)

Warm here too at the moment, Zodiac. They're preparing Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland at the moment, it would be good to have some snow. But then if we get it the place grinds to a halt... We hardly ever get snow round here - but what we lack in snow we make up for in fog :/

I really like that picture of Jake and Catherine.
I must say that Brad was definitely going through a wilderness phase in that picture of him and Jake.

Those Xmas lights look really nice. The snowman is so cute and Xmassy. I love when the Xmas atmosphere starts to creep up when the lights and trees start appearing everywhere. I'm heading to London for work next week but doubt I'll get to see anything as will probably be all work and no play:(

Hi Carol! That beard of Brad's :P It's well beyond even Peter's Seagull beard - I hope Jake never has to go that far... Parts of London look so beautiful as Christmas approaches but it's never any fun when it's all work :(

Why would you want to share me with Daddy when you can have me all to yourself? *feels hurt* But if you insist on him I'll bring him. How bout while you and I go ona long walk on Carnaby Steet we leave him in the car with the window rolled down a little bit.

Unseasonably warm here too. I'm avoiding Chrismas at the moment as I have both my son's birthdays to come before then aaarg!

Catherine is a good actress to work alongside. However, the more I see her though, the more the roles look the same, I'd like to see her mix it up a bit. Hopefully, Nailed will do that for her.

Shy anon, you can see all of Jake's bits in Lovely and Amazing on YouTube, although it pulls the film a bit out of context, Jake's bits are all I'd watch it for.. oh, and a little from Dermot Mulroney, he's gorgeous.

Nailed is my baby, I love it even before it's born. I fully embrace and the quirky, 'disjointedness' (if that's a word) that this film may bring and Mr Russell .. a word to the wise... make a documentary about all the sh!£ you went through to get this film out into the world. It somehow may bring the unreality of Hollywood together with the real-life 'credit-crunch' that's happening to us all at the moment.

Good morning everyone! It's a day for resting and drinking lots of tea...

Morning Atti :D I suppose we could leave him in the car, with a bowl of water and some nibbles...

Hi Bandgeek! It's a gorgeous picture. Jake is adorable in it, sigh, who wouldn't want to kiss him?

Morning Sheba :D I agree about Catherine's roles. I hope the Nailed one is more fun for her. It should be fun for us! I hope David is listening to you and we get to hear all about it :)

Have a good day everyone!

Oh, Atti, he's going to be terribly bored in this car. When you and WDW come back, he'll be sleeping, curled up on the back seat, his Blackberry on the floor. Bring him some coffee at least.

Morning Zodiac! Hope you're have a relaxing day :D

Hi Monica :D Wouldn't that be great to see Jake and Brad in a movie together? Maybe they'll do that, and with David Fincher. London looks very pretty at the moment, but is way too busy!
