Boards, globes, headlines, heat

With Peter Sarsgaard's Seagull due to finish its run on Broadway on 21 December, you'd have thought he'd be after a break from the theatre and the discipline it demands. But, far from it. It seems that Peter wants to give it another go and Maggie's decided she's had too many evenings without him, so she's joining him. I would also have thought that Peter would have had his fill of Chekhov, a condition with which I could entirely sympathise, but Peter is a glutton for punishment - and he will have it with Uncle Vanya.

It's a limited run, between January and March, but one would think Ramona will be getting very familiar with the stage over the next few months, maybe getting a taste for it. And you've got to suppose that this is one production Jake would not want to miss (that's if he's not on babysitting duty).

The nominees for the Golden Globes have been announced at the Beverly Hilton and it was surprising to see that the Dark Knight has received only one nomination - but that nod is for Heath Ledger, indiciating what might be to come in an emotional awards season. Anne Hathaway has also received a nod for Rachel Getting Married and I was absolutely delighted to see David Fincher has a nomination for Benjamin Button. The awards will be announced on 11 January, in a ceremony completely unlike last year's press conference event. ETA how good it is to see the Tropic Thunder nominations - Robert Downey JR and Tom Cruise. Here is the full list.

Bits

Good to hear that, among the extras for the DVD release of Man on a Wire is Jake's beautifully narrated tale, The Man Who Walked Between the Towers.

The controversy continues in Italy surrounding the decision of RAI TV to remove the homosexual scenes from Brokeback Mountain - the backlash by the media, politicians and the public carries on, with the story winning newspaper front pages. The story's even made the UK's Sun... The passionate defence of the film and its story, three years on, is loud and powerful.

And finally

The Sky Showbiz Girls are well known for their Gyllenhaalic credentials. Today, they have been celebrating their much loved female celebrity Kylie Minogue and have made the ultimate sacrifice: 'To show just how much we love Kylie in the Showbiz Shed... we're happy to offer up our favourite fellow, one Jake Gyllenhaal. Frankly, there's no one hotter on the planet - and he's cute and funny.' And hot. And cute. And funny. And hot.

It was a very wet day today in Walt Disney World but, while I huddled under a big umbrella with a frozen margarita and a poncho, I overheard one little girl say: 'It's a lucky day, mummy. Today we can jump in puddles.'

My god I wondered who was being so forward with Maggie, a costar with her in the play? especially in front of everyone taking pics, doesn't he know she's in love with Peter?!

I have to tell you my word: dindandl. LOL

Hey LOL! I guess he's allowed to be so forward with Maggie as that is Peter! Good to see his clean shaven lovely face - I hope in Vanya Peter will be able to shed that beard, but, knowing Chekhov plays, maybe not...

OMG you got dindandl? I got spersgl - I get all the worsst words (posting at same time :))

Chekhov is punishment? I dont think agree. I find Chekov a delight. Maggie should be great doing Chekhov. She is irony personified! Im also very pleased to see them both take to the boards. and together! what fun!

By the way, I thought she was perfect in Dark Knight. Too bad she got frizzled.

"machrof? make rolling on the floor? whut?

I must honestly say I have not seen Jake cute, funny and hot for a long long time, but then he's been pretty much off the radar so who knows. I hope he emerges from lurkdom one of these days, but he may be over the hill by now. love him anyway, poor sod.

o gosh you gotta leave our hallowed shores, WDW? oh no! at least the 'gaters didnt get you!

I just realized something.
Maggie and Peter have been engaged for years; when are they ever going to get married?

Hi Pia! Or should I say ackstre - as Blogger informs me I should.

I reckon that I'm suffering from Post Traumatic Chekhov Syndrome due to having seen sooo many Chekhov plays at the National Theatre in London about 18 years ago. Uncle Vanya was my fave of the lot though, I saw a great production with Michael Gambon and Eileen Atkins.

I thought Maggie was so good in TDK, realistic too. I particularly enjoyed the way she delivered some lines. (And I liked her wardrobe in it...).

One of these days, Jake'll be back doing the chat show rounds and then he'll be cute and funny and hot for all I think. I have found him hot in the meantime though :D

I leave in a couple of days... sigh... I love these shores.

Hi Dailing! It is a long time, but I can empathise entirely with Maggie and Peter not feeling the need to make the final step. They're such a lovey couple :)

My word is parearyt now - I always get the meaningless ones - sob...

Pia did you not see the new pictures of Jake just in London in the previous post?

I thought he sure looked super hot, sexy and cute all at once. And his eyes sure were beautifully blue. But that's just me.

As for Maggie and Peter, of course love them too and am happy to hear they will be doing the boards together.

He's cute and funny and hot. And don't forget he's dreamy too :)

That Sky "scarifice" reminds me of one time Metro did one of those celebrity fake pairing analysis and put Jake and Jessica Simpson together, and the writer's conclusion was like, "but why would the dreamy Jake go out with someone like that?" (or something to that effect)

I got the word "ourch"! LOL

Hi WDW and everyone :)

I don't know much about Jake Gyllenhaal personally but I do think he's never been hotter. And one can't stop being cute and funny.;)

Heath was uforgettable as the Joker tragic icon of evil and anarchy. I truly hope he will be rewarded as he deserves.

Bye to all.:)

I love the little girl's attitude, I love people who are always able to see the bright side in everything.

I don't see anything wrong with Peter and Maggie not getting married at all. They obviously love each other, they have a child, what's more?

WDW, so you're coming back?

To tell the truth, I don't know what Jake is like right now. I haven't heard him talking in a long time. I cannot judge him based on a picture, either. I think he's changed, though. We all change, get older, have different priorities. One thing which stays unchanged is his blue eyes:)

Oh, and I'm so happy that Heath got the nomination. He deserves every award there is for his magnificent Joker.

Good morning/afternoon everyone! My word is 'alist' - at last I've arrived, I can go to the parties, the awards, the premieres...

Hi Get Real! OMG those new pictures, absolutely gorgeous and hot and cute and sexy and funny and scrummy, all without the slightest effort. Topped off by those beautiful eyes :) Sigh.

Hey Winterbird - ouch, nasty word. Yep, you can add dreamy :D I do love some of these things the Sky girls come up with, often with any excuse to swoon at Jake - I can understand that!

Hi Xenia! When you see TDK it's hard to fathom Heath not winning awards for what he did with the Joker.

Hey there Zodiac! I loved what that little girl said - it made a few very wet people laugh. I love people like that too. Oh, and I agree about Maggie and Peter completely.

None of us knows Jake but in my mind and in my eyes he will always be the hot, beautiful, funny, talented and sexy (and did I say hot?) moviestar who waved and smiled at me from the steps of the Cannes Palais. Sigh... But yes we all change with age and one of the things I've enjoyed with following Jake's career over the years is witnessing that change.

Yes, I'm shortly coming home - can someone warm it up for me?

Have a lovely day everyone! Good to see you all :D

Scritedr!!! Man did we ever get scritedr by the ice storm, although in my particular area we escaped the bullet, have power and mobility. but friends are huddled in buffalo robes by their woodstoves waiting for springtime.

hey, get real! how're you doing? Im dreaming of a white christmas and Jake playing Iago with Jeremey Wright as Otello and Maggie as Desdemona - ummm - whatever - I have found all recent picture kinda weird. but that's just silly ole me.

Hey Pia! Doing okay here, it feels like the holidays and NYC is the best at this time. Although subdued due to the crap economy. Hope all is good with you.

As for Jake and the new pics being weird, well I guess we all see what we see... But I would love to see him doing some theatre.

The word of the day is heept...

Do you ever stop moaning and whingeing? I mean - ever?

Hi there everyone! Had a wonderful last full day of my holiday :D Cool but beautiful blue skies!

Hi Winterbird :D That's bad - rain and rain and cold and rain... sigh. But yes, we need to meet up in London soon and enjoy the Jake warmth there - I'll be in touch as soon as I'm home and we must set a date, it's been too long.

Hey Pia! My word is rocary - reminds me of summers spent out in the garden :D I've been following the weather and it's just been awful up where you are. I'm glad to hear you still have power etc.

Glad to hear you're ok, too, Get Real, way up there. I think we should get our guy to do some theatre and we should all go along to cheer him on. Maybe he'll be inspired by seeing Maggie and Peter. Have you got snow in NYC?

Narcissa, please respect Pia's right to express an opinion and I can vouch, having been lucky enough to have known Pia a long time, that she is no moaner. We can disagree nicely, I hope :)

Pia, I love NYC at Christmas time :D

Good to see you all and I hope you're having/had a good evening!

Hi all,

Everyone is allowed a differing opinion respectfully. :) Although I see nothing weird about Jake walking out of a restaurant. But I respect Pia's difference of opinion. ;)

Yes, we did have the nasty weather and mostly rain with some ice but that has gone away and it is just very cold now. Sorry to hear MA and other areas are still struggling. NYC is magical at this time and I love it at this time of year too.

WDW, glad you had a good time in FL. Sorry you have to leave. Have a very safe trip home!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Tarmis....hmm, interesting.

xoxo

Keep warm and dry, Pia :)

Hi Get Real! I found nothing unusual about the photos either, but Jake lets us all see him with different eyes :) I'm glad the weather's improved. Mr WDW tells me it snowed at home this morning - not good! I want to go home and have beach weather!

I was in NYC last week and managed to catch The Seagull with Peter in it.

It was fantastic and in a really great way made me want to read the play.

M, that's great! I'm glad you had a chance to see it (and Peter) and that it was inspiring. Thanks for letting us know :D Hope you had a good time in NYC.
