Congratulations America on Obama Day!

It's a big, big day! Congratulations, America, on your new President! I may be a Brit and it may not involve Jake Gyllenhaal but you can bet Jake's going to be smiling today along with the rest of us as we're all brought together, wherever and whoever we are, to celebrate something truly historic. Today, WDW is also a Barack Obama fansite!

Maggie is by all accounts celebrating in Washinton, with Peter, no doubt, but, even though Jake's not there (as far as we know), others we know and have talked about here have been seen having the time of their lives over there in the city with the big white buildings. Love to see Jamie Foxx with the man himself.

But there is some Jake news today. On 30 January, David Fincher will be celebrated at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and it seems that Jake has been confirmed as attending. While I definitely appreciate that both Jake and I will have had evenings with Fincher lately, it would have been good if they'd been at the same time, eh Jake?

Have a great day!

I know this honeymoon will be over soon or later, but it's still very awe-inspiring to see an intelligent US president after those 8 years of Bush idiocy.

Have a great day, everyone in US :)

Who knows? Maybe Jake is keeping fit to wear those Armani suits to play Ness?

Ha! my word is bacoven (bacon in oven?)

Thank you WDW, it truly is an important and historic day for America today, and I don't want to miss a minute! :)

I am just bursting with happiness and excitement!!

I know that there are hard realities and Obama is human and will need help after this day of celebration but I feel a real hope. :)

He is our President!

Thanks also for the info on Jake at the Santa Barbara FF for Fincher. Very cool.

Congratulations right back, WDW!!!
This is going to affect U.S. relationships all over the world. Hate to sound cliche', but "It's all good!!!"

We're all in this mess together. The impact of our troubles on the rest of the globe is something Americans are finally ready to appreciate. Obama will need all of us. But right now, this is a day for jubilation!

Hi everyone on this historic day:)

I have been watching the live feed on CNN (whilst I'm meant to be working) and I am getting really excited about the events that are about to unfold.

Thanks WDW for posting those pics of U2 and Bruce Springsteen at the concert on Sunday. It was really great to see U2 performing at such an important event.

Just want to say best of luck to President Obama. I have a positive feeling that his presidency will be a change for the better for all of us. It really feels like a new beginning:)

Congratulations to all of America and enjoy the celebrations.

I'm feeling emotional too and so happy to have witnessed history:)

What a fantastic speechmaker.

Hi there everyone! well, what an evening. Drove home through quiet streets (a miracle round these parts - mind you, 50% (ish) of the population here is American) listening to Obama's inspiring speech. Made me think.

Also on the radio, an American official in London was interviewed and asked what was going on in London to celerate and he said it was going to be a blast because 'We have better balls'. Hmmmm.

Sorry to see that Teddy Kennedy was taken ill at the lunch :( It must be so overwhelming.

I hope everyone has a wonderful evening. Cheers!

Thank you so much WDW for this wonderful tribute apportioned to Barack (we're on first name terms y'know :DD )

Just got back home and I'm exhausted from all the paartying and organising but so happy it's unbelievable. Thank God he got through it today with such humility and grace.

So tired... will talk more tomorrow if the post is still available. Happy Obama Day everyone xx

Hey Sheba! That sounds like a lot of fun, glad to hear of the partying. It takes me back to 1997 and how happy I was when Tony Blair won the election and I wore red for days! I've been watching coverage and Barack (first name terms are good) and he did such a good job, incredible thinking how nervous anyone would be.

be great to talk about it when you're rested. I'm not replacing the post tonight - this day is historic and I'm sure Jake's busy celebrating just like the rest of us :D

The President's speech was somewhat a sharp reprimand of the Bush years. And well done, too!

The fact we Americans elected him, might mean we'll be more welcome when we travel, and not get those disgusted stares again in other parts of the world! LOL!

The first election was stolen. But that second election caused other countries to question our sanity! Altho some feel it was also stolen.
