Jake Gyllenhaal - SBIFFing and Rocking! Jake's tribute to a man with 'a big brain and a big heart'

SBIFF! Santa Barbara was the place to be last night, that's for sure. Looking like he had just walked off the set of Jamie Foxx's music vid, here is movie star Jake Gyllenhaal working that hat for fans and cameras. [Update] And as for what Jake said when he made it to the podium: 'I want to tell you a secret about David Fincher. He has a big brain and a big heart.'

Jake pulled every expression imaginable to fit that fedora, scarf and collar, ranging from smiles and grimaces to heartwilting stares, and all with sizzling degrees of hotness. Many thanks to IHJ for these fabulous pictures!

Finally, Jake was on that Arlington Theatre stage with Benjamin Button's Taraji P. Henson and I had my wish of photographs of Jake alongside the Director in Residence - David Fincher himself.

How I'd love to hear what was being said here!

Rocking Jake

There are more stills from Jake's appearance in the video for Jamie Foxx's Blame It, which will premiere on February 9, and show Jake alongside such figures as Forest Whitaker, Ron Howard and, my own favourite, Big Sam L Jackson.

Pictures from IHJ, People and Just Jared.

I've chewed it over - and these photos are fabulous! That'll teach me to go direct to source, I've learnt my lesson and in future I'm just gonna rely on your posts WDW! Thank you for these.

Hey TD! I just responded to the comments in the last post, so I just read your's - I'm glad to hear that the chewing had the desired result. Have a good day!

I have to say this again: I think he looks amazing in that video pics.

I can't wait to see that video now

*still find it funny that Ron Howard was there*

Thanks for all the goodies this morning, WDW.

Hi Winterbird :D I can't wait to see Jake in this video - looks like such a blast - that must've been some day. I did a double take with Ron Howard too! I'm enjoying the day of goodies too - I'll keep my eyes open for more.

Added some more pics, thanks to the lovely Stephanie :D

What a nice surprise! Jake looks great, love the fedora, so does David, very relaxed and comfortable. I love, love, love Taraji P. Henson, I thought she was wonderful as Benjamin Button's foster mother, so much warmth and love for him. I hope she wins a Best Supporting Actress award, but there's so many good actresses, it's hard to pick just one! And Forest Whitaker is one of the best actors around, I think, Shakespearean! Thanks WDW.

I like Jake's hat in the video. But this one seems to have the wrong type of brim. He needs a wider brim. Most important they all look like they're having loads of fun.

BTW: Anyone else having difficulty with Google as a search engine? I've heard it might be "infected" today. So if yours is acting strangely, choose another search engine and let be until they fix it.

Sorry for putting up the Getty link as soon as the pics were available. Won't happen again.

Hi there, Shy Anon! Jake and David look wonderful - two of my very favourite men together, perfect :D I must agree how nice it is to see the pictures of Taraji. I thought she was absolutely amazing in Ben Button - and her ageing was done so well. I had no idea watching it how old she really is, so lovely to see her here as 'herself'! Oh yes, love Forest - it was great to see him at the Baftas. He had a big smile on him. It's a pleasure!

Hi Anon! I love how Jake is having fun with the hats - I reckon he really had fun with that outfit in the video. The video just looks like one long party.

I'm not having google/blogger troubles myself today (for a change...) but thanks for the heads up.

I hope everyone's having a good day :D It's getting colder out there... My word is gimme - yes please...

Oh don't say that, While You were Sleeping! The comment wasn't meant like that, TD was being kind to me, which is very appreciated. It's good to have help with the site with links like that, especially, well... while I'm sleeping.

Uli said...

Yup, Anon 16:05! The brim of the hat is wrong... Like you say, not wide enough…Hm, hm, hm…

The pic of Jake on stage giving a speech was cute! I wonder what he was talking about at that moment!
And I found it funny that Jake and T.J. Henson and were all dressed up while David Fincher got on stage just in jeans and a pullover! You gotta love him for that! J

I had some trouble with Google today, with every link that was shown after a search it said, that visiting that site might damage my computer and it didn’t allow to go directly to the links - I had to copy and insert them… But later it was okay again…

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Uli! I have to admit to haveing been rather distracted by what was under the hat... I love how david is all casual too - he dressed up when he saw me the other week!

I reckon I must've slept through the Google troubles. I'm trying to get my act together to do some more baking :)

Uli said...

LOL, that was very considerate of David! ;)

Good luck with the baking!!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Thanks Uli - I may need it. Ah yes, David was very considerate, sigh... But he didn't bring Jake with him, so that was very inconsiderate...

So happy to see Jake in the limelight again instead of coffee-carrying pics. Funny I was just watching Micheal Jackson in Smooth Criminal, log on here and there's Jake rockin' the Fedora! Y'all know that's not a standard one either for his HH.

Can't wait to see Jake and Jaimee together again and I've wanted for so long to see Jake in a music video (not a comedy one - we all know he can do that) something showing off his romantic side.

Love Mr Fincher, love his cool - he attracts cool people to his projects. Would be great to see them working together again. Even with Forrest Whittaker - what a fabulous actor - he rocked a fantastic British accent in a movie long ago. What a lucky chap Jake is, I'm sure he knows it too.

Well 3 years later being a Gyllenhaalic and it doesn't get any better xx

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey there Sheba! It is most definitely good seeing Jake back out there, doing what we love to see - shining :) It is a good day! Good to see you, hope you're having a good weekend :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I just updated the post with a quote from Jake from last night :D

Anonymous said...

Oh, what fantastic pictures! Loving his smile, the cool hat and scarf. Nice to see him with the fans, Fincher, that actress was great in BB and she was sure loving Jake at the Oscars, lol. They look to be having a great time and it made my day for sure. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Get Real! I didn't realise that was T.J. in the Oscar pics - I knew nothing about her until her fine BB performance. Well, she had a real treat last night then, too!

How's it going over there - have you still got snow? They're forecasting the Big Freeze for us :(

Anonymous said...

Jake looked great last night!

The music video worries me, though. (I'm not sure why...)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Bandgeek! He most certainly did :D Hopefully, you've got nothing to worry about with the vid - we'll see. I do like the idea of the fun Jake must've had making it - it's definitely influenced his taste in headgear.

I've finished baking, I can relax now :D My word is olbag - hmmm, not sure I like that...

paulh said...

Jake looks great in the hat, I think. He's probably going for the style of a particular era when the brims weren't too wide. Or, he's making deft fun of the whole fedora mystique by wearing the lite version of the hat. :-) The pictures look like a lot of fun. I wish I could have been there.

Anonymous said...

David Fincher was in Japan promoting Benjamin Button with Brad Pitt on January 29th! So if he was dressed casual, maybe it's because he was traveling.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Paul :D I think Jake looks great in this hat too - what a look for a red carpet... Like you, I do wish I'd been there :)

Hey Anon :) I know, I couldn't believe it when I saw the pictures from Tokyo - Davis is certainly swift of foot!

Anonymous said...

I want to tell you a secret about David Fincher. He has a big brain and a big heart.

What a great article about the SBIFF, and what a nice thing to say, Jake.

My word is suptemon. Hmmmm. ;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

It was such a nice thing to say, Shy Anon! I hope we hear some more. Your word is definitely better than olbag - I'm still sulking about that one...

Zodiac said...

Too much information for me. Fedora, scarves, fans, demanding directors, music videos,a gansta image replacing a stay-at-home-and-cook-for-his-girlfriend image. His ever sad blue eyes which I haven't seen zoomed in on for so long.

BBM is on the Polish TV tonight. In 40 minutes. It's a big deal. It will be shown on the most popular and the biggest TV channel in the country. Country, where Catholic church still has a lot to say and a role of a traditional family is bigger than anywhere else in Europe except maybe Italy. Where homosexual love is a taboo subject for many people.

I hope some people will set out on a wonderful journey today just like I did 3 years ago. I'm not sure in what direction I'm going though;)

I wish I knew how to quit you, Gyllenhaal.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

(((Zodiac))) I hear you. It's a bumpy ride but you're not on it alone. Three years - it's amazing, isn't it? I can hardly remember what I was like before. I'd be very interested to hear if Polish TV makes any changes to BBM, as happened in the US. It's strange thinking some may be about to watch it for the very first time... Many hugs and much love xx

Zodiac said...

Oh WDW, thank you. Thank you.

They've promised not to cut anything. I'll tell you later.

My bad, WDW. She was in this picture with Jake at the '06 SAG Awards. The one on the right. She was in "Hustle and Flow" that year.

What a lovely thing for Jake to say about David Fincher. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Oh good, do come back and tell us about it, Zodiac :)

That's so funny, get Real, as that's the picture I was thinking of too! I had no idea who that was with Jake :D It's a lovely thing Jake said. David is so generous and modest when you listen to him, and yet his excellence is off the scale. I'm so glad that he and Jake are friends :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Thinking out loud (again!) but wouldn't it be great if Jake and David were to work together again?

Anonymous said...

Yes!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Yes! Let's start a petition :D

To: While you were sleeping..I did not mean anything re: your link to the Getty images. Please don't stop posting early links! It was 'all on me' as they say. So sorry. Gosh I'm not having much luck here am I - knew I shouldn't have started posting! I think I'll just go back to lurkin for a bit. Keep blogging WDW! TD

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Oh TD, please don't say that. Please be assured that I love your comments. I would hate it if you stopped commenting. We can all disagree with each other, and that's fine (I know I talk nonsense a lot of the time!). Your comment was such a kind one for me and I really appreciated it. I wish that I could ask people not to take things so personally. I'm listening to you, TD *)

Hey hey hey!
I missed this place...

How nice it is to see those blue eyes back, and the smile, and everything about him, fedora or not fedora, scarf or not scarf.

TD, don't stop posting. If I survived, you'll make it too. ;)

WDW, Zodiac, Winterbird, Sheba, Uli, Getreal, Bandgeek, Paulh, Shy Anon: I missed you guys.
(Where is my love Atti?)

Thank you for ALL the posts I saw today, WDW. You rock!

I just went to YouTube to listen to the Jamie Foxx song... I wasn't surprised to find out that I will definitely not be buying this song, Jake or no Jake... But what made me LOL were the comments to the "video" I picked... I didn't even understand half of them... Hiphop (or whatever kind of music that is...) just seems to be a totally different world from mine... :D :D :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Good morning everyone! Due snow tonight - shiver...

So good to see you back Monica O. I've been thinking about you and I hope things are ok. I've been planning a WDW treat for you so it's good to know you're back :D I've been missing Atti too - I thought maybe he'd run off with you...

Hi Love It! Ooh, David Fincher is never off topic :D Thanks for that, I've been over and saved it. A lovely pic. I wish David had won last night though.

Morning Uli! Maybe what it needs is a ukelele-playing smiling Jake :D I'm a hiphop fan so I usually like Jamie Foxx's stuff, except for the very slow ones. I quite like a song that blames it on the booze :D I read some comments too - OMG! Do people really talk like that?!

Have a good day! I'm off to see Milk. At last, it's made it here, but only to a really bad cinema :(

Zodiac said...

Morning! They haven't cut a single thing. It was weird to see it on TV for me. But those commercial breaks...Argh...

People were moved, big discussions are going on right now on many film-related forums on Polish websites.

I don't know about Jamie, but I love Kanye West. They made a song together-"Golddigger".

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning Zodiac! That's great on two counts - that they didn't cut it and it's creating a discussion :D How I hate the ad breaks though. Oh yes, I'm a fan of Kanye West too - good driving music :D Hope you have a good day!

Good morning, Wet Dark!
How long!

Jake was so elegant and beautiful in the Santa Barbara Film Festival!
It would be wonderful to see a partnership between David Fincher and Jake Gyllenhaal.

I am not a fan of the music of Jamie Foxx, but I'm anxious to see the clip.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Oh Atti - my poor heart... '( But still good to see you *woof*

Hi there Monica! Jake looks just wonderful in these pictures. A whole new look :D I would dearly love to see Jake and David working together again.

I saw Milk this afternoon - Loved it!

Zinquirilla said...

uhmm, I don't like with that hat.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there Zinquirilla! The hat is definitely dividing opinion :D I like it, partly because it's a blessed change from the bloody beanie... :)

WDW will you be banning apostrophes on your blog? Hitting 1 more key will give everyone here more time to think about Jake!

Its a catastrophe for the apostrophe in Britain

Btw Im not worried about my position. Even though I take 2 keystrokes the excitement I convey is tantamount to the Jakesters. Theyll never get rid of me!!

Anonymous said...

correction: Hitting 1 LESS key will give everyone here more time to think about Jake!

Got too excited thinking about Jake!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

OMG Exclamation Point!!! This is terrible!! You can't ban good grammar simply because you can't be bothered with it - I realise I like punctuation more than many but really! I have a lot of relatives in Birmingham - they must go around re-inserting the apostrophe... Jake studied English, he wouldn't be happy either. Thanks for the red alert EP!

What is it with the words tonight - mine is now supgreedy??
