Stop Press! Nailed to open in Ukraine on 23 July?
Well, you could cut me down with a feather... completely out of the blue, IMDb and ProIMDb have blessed Nailed with a release date - 23 July 2009 in Ukraine! So, before we all pack our bags and head off for our summer hols in Kiev, what does this mean? Is it a mistake? Are more dates to follow? Why Ukraine? Why not Oxford, England? Does it mean that Nailed is finished after all? And does it mean that this release, if true, will enable David O Russell to get Nailed out on DVD and so get some money in for it after all? What does Jake think?

Could this be true?!?! This movie is driving me crazy! I've been thinking about what Jessica said about it not being finished...and then I kept reflecting on those pictures of Jake and David having lunch, hugging, and David with his big tote bag full of paperwork. What else would they be "meeting" about if Nailed was not going to be released...eventually....

Looks like we have to round up a possie and mosie on over to the Ukraine if that's the only way to see it. Delighted for our baby Nailed and can't wait for the DVD. It certainly has been quite a journey for this little misfit film of misfits that almost suffered the same fate as The Misfits.
What does ETA mean? I should not have watched that video on the previous post, it made me feel queasy. Glad that you bring us some wonderful Jake news though, WDW.
As an aside, watched the wonderful RDJ yesterday in Chaplain and fell in love with him all over again. I hope he and Jake get to work together again very soon.

Like you, I've been feeling positive since those pics of Jake and David out together - this must mean something, surely? we need answers!
Hi 14:03! I'm crossing fingers too. This could be the start of further release dates or it could mean a release and then a DVD. I'll take either at the moment.

Hey Sheba - I think I'm with you about the carrot cake - although three-layer sounds rather epic. It really has been a journey for Nailed - it would be great if it's all documented - a DVD extra perhaps :)

nooooooo i'll cry if any of Jake's films end up straight to dvd. ;_; gah.and i was so excited when Nailed was first announced.Jake playing a sleazy character.i wanted to see if he could make me dislike him. =P (i still hope for him playing a bad guy or a really disgusting character)
and i like David O. Russell.as a director i mean.i liked Three Kings and loved I Heart Huckabees(kind of Kaufmanesque) but well if he fights with the producers/studio the way he fights with his actors....well...
Hey 14:03! It's happened before, unfortunately, with Highway. But it's so difficult to predict what this means. We need to see another date added. Jake's character in Nailed would be fascinating to watch! Sleazy with sex thrown in plus humour and a very good cast indeed. And I too hope David is putting up a fight for Nailed :)
Hey Flower! I do like Jessica myself - I think she's an interesting actress and it'll be so good to see her and Jake working together. Jake's not worked for almost 5 months now and I'm so ready to get firm news that he's working on a new movie for us :D

I'm laughing like crazy over this! The only interpretation I can come up with is that Russell et al scrounged up enough money to finish the film, but not enough to find distributors and promote it. (As for promotion, if no one knows your movie is coming out, who will go to see it?) Then, maybe some distributor in the Ukraine stepped forward, and Russell went with it, hoping to build on it. :-)
Hi Paul! That's quite a bit like how I see it too. Somehow David has finished the film off, he has somewhere to show it and then it either gets a buzz from that (there is a notoriety already to Nailed) or it can go to DVD and be out there. Either are better than it never being shown at all. It is bizarre and also extremely intriguing!
Do you think there will be a gala opening in Kiev? Hollywood stars (and local stars, of course) on the red carpet?
Hey Anna :D I don't think so, I think it could be something very quiet and cheap. But, on the big other hand, the stars are the most obvious way to get attention for this and so you just don't know...
yea i know about Highway but that was in 2002.he was not well known.who the hell is Jake Gyllenhaal stage.he may still not be a box office name but i don't think they were expecting a box office success with Nailed.cause that'd be a highly unrealistic expectation.
but still he's the best of his generation and the best looking too.so dammit get it together and release the damn film.(it's been 1,5 year have mercy on us ;_;)
on a side note while i was there i looked at his bio at imdb and i read:

so i googled.i found a Swedish site that only listed till 1923.another site (German) about European nobles says that that calender appeared till 1994.so it may be true.i couldn't find the list though.but i don't know Swedish if i knew maybe i could.i also saw there are a lot of Gyllen- variated names.Gyllenberg,Gyllenkrok,Gyllenpalm but my old and all time fave (after Gyllenhaal of course) is Gyllenhammar. xD why yes i did have time to spend. :D

Hi 14:03 :) I believe Gyllen- means Golden so I suppose that's quite a popular term. It certainly would be a great shame if Nailed went the same way as Highway, although I do think a DVD is much better than nothing! Hopefully we'll get movie and DVD :)

Hi all what a bizarre turn of events for Nailed. Hopefully this means we will get to see it. Hope it's not straight to DVD though:( Though in my desperation I will accept anything at this stage.
I'm really looking forward to hearing Jake is working again. Can't wait to see himself and Jim Carrey sharing the screen:)
I'm off to Star Trek this afternoon. Not a huge sci-fi fan so not really looking forward to it. Does it appeal to non Trekkies WDW? My friend has already seen it twice so far but he is a huge Trekkie so not sure whether to believe him about it!!

I hope you enjoy Star Trek today - I loved it. Although, admittedly, I am a teeny weeny bit of a Trekkie and have been waiting for this film for a long time. There are clues to my Trekkie credentials in the next post :D I think non Trekkies should enjoy it too though.

This doesn't make any sense since I read an article where Jessica Biel said the movie was unfinished. Why would they release a movie that was not finished? I thought they had financial problems and that was why it was not finished.

Hi Sweetpea - Exactly! That interview was on here a few days ago and now we have a time and place, which is just too bizarre for words. The possibility is it's more finished than Jessica knows, or that there is a move now (due to Ukranian funding?) to get it finished to some degree now. Before Jessica's interview, the last thing we heard was that Spike Jonz's brother was doing the music for it. A release date/screening would get Nailed attention/funding, for a wider release later or for a DVD release. It's a puzzle! Very intriguing!
