Details here! So.... what do we want to know?

On with the post...

When one is confronted with Jake Gyllenhaal, it's not always easy to know what to say on that spur of the moment - at least something that doesn't make you sound like a less evolved primate. However, one lucky person who happened to rent her Pittsburgh home out for Love and Other Drugs did a very good job: 'Jake, you sure are handsome'. To the point, accurate and objective. Another person went possibly too far down the objective path: 'He's a human being'.

Ed Zwick, the director of Love and Other Drugs, has been talking about the production to a local paper and they seem to have spent quite a day on the set. But do we get a picture of Jake Gyllenhaal clad in white doctor's coat, stethoscope round muscular neck, cranking charming smiles with well-considered reckless abandonment? No, we get a picture of Ed Zwick. No disrespect to Ed, I love to see pictures of him, but I get a sense that he's torturing me with hiding Jake just out of sight of those camera lenses.

It's a great feature though, full of insights into Jamie's character, the story, the process of filming and of the role of Pittsburgh in the movie. More to the point, we also get confirmation that Atticus is on set - whether he has a speaking role is still not known.

More info: 'The movie, from Fox 2000 Pictures and New Regency Productions, is scheduled for release some time in 2010. Although characterized as a romantic comedy, "Love" has more meat and less froth than most films in that category... "It does talk about the pharmaceutical industry with some insight and some penetrating understanding," Zwick said during a break in filming. "It also has elements of a relationship that are more serious and dimensional than just the basic romantic comedy but it's also very funny and very romantic." Gyllenhaal and Hathaway played an unhappily married couple in "Brokeback Mountain" but their relationship here is charged with attraction and passion. "When you see what they have together, that is the heart and soul of the movie," Zwick said. "So chemistry is an elusive thing, in real life as in movies, but you do know it when you see it and know it when you have it." Hathaway, who started filming this week, did her homework about Parkinson's. "She's that kind of actor, as all the good ones are," Zwick said, doing lots of reading and spending time with neurologists and patients.'

You can read the full article here. Ed Zwick may not be giving us Jake pics, but we are very lucky to have IHJ keeping us watered through the drought with new old pictures. The ones featured in this post are from a press conference for The Good Girl.

An Education at LFF

While I'm still waiting for Peter Sarsgaard's sicknote, telling us why he wished to be excused from the British premiere of An Education, it's a grand enough occasion, a good enough movie, for his absence to be pardoned - with approximately 650,000 lines 'They made me do it'. It was an enjoyable red carpet, largely thanks to Winterbird, but the LFF organisers did manage to make everyone with a ticket feel a little bit like cattle off to slaughter. Free chocolate helped this feeling to pass but things did get a little heated despite the cold air temperatures.

You can see a video of the red carpet here, plus some proper pictures.

And a refresher of back to April 2008 when I came across Carey Mulligan and Rosamund Pike squeezed between Oxford's colleges, plus a certain Peter Sarsgaard.

Pictures from IHJ, WDW and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and OK.

I enjoyed last night's premiere, largely thanks to you, WDW! But those people need to improve their organisational skills before PoP premiere! :P

We need more Jake in Love and Other Drugs and with Anne! Sounds like Ed got himself some professional good actors in this film.

That comment from that woman in Pittsburgh is so sweet. I wonder if Jake blushed? *g*

Thanks Winterbird! And thanks for the ticket and your company:)

The red carpet organisation did remind me of the TDK premiere - and some of the same people too. I do hope it gets better for PoP too.

I bet Jake blushed! The whole feature is wonderful :)

Thanks, Wet Dark!
It's great to see an approximation of JB and JM with POP fans.

'He's a human being'.
Absolutely.

Jake and Anne had a great chemistry in a few scenes in BBM. So I am so anxious to see them in LAOD.

Carey Muligan has so much class. I love her voice and her performance in a clip I saw of An Education.
She is not intimidated beside the great Emma Thompson.

I remember your meeting with Peter. Besides being a great actor, he is a wonderful person.

Morning Monica! Emma Thompson is very larger than life and Carey does very well beside her. Must be a little intimidating. Peter is wonderful :D

It's great to have an update from LAOD and Jake and Anne - now all we need are the pics :)

Have a good day everybody! You'll be glad to hear I've lost my voice..

I don't have facebook. I'd like to know how long it took to film POP and how long did they spend in Morocco and how much in the London Studio.

Thanks WDW

ALSO, Atticus is IN Love and Other Drugs? Or he's just hanging around on the set waiting for Jake to get done with a scene?

Hi there Sweetpea :D I'm not much of a facebook gal myself...

I doubt Atti is in Love and Other Drugs but I'm sure he's providing vital support. Mind you, they do seem to be desperate for extras!
