[Updated] Another version of the trailer to add to the high res Prince of Persia trailer - and it's spectacular

Updated to add a different version of the trailer, just made available!

Finally, tonight, we have the high res screening of the Prince of Persia trailer, thanks to IGN.com. Now we can see the details, the beads in Dastan's hair, the intricate patterns and layers of the costumes, right into the eyes of the Prince, Jake Gyllenhaal. And look at that setting - I swear I can feel the sand and desert air breathing on my skin. Definitely worth staying up late for.

GUH! Gorgeous! I'm so glad IGN.com posted it in Hi-Res as it makes up for Entertainment Tonight NOT having the trailer on tonight. This is not the first time that show has mislead people into thinking they would give us something more than they ultimately do. GRRRRRR.

But...this Hi-Res version of the PoP Trailer....*THUD* all over again!!!!

Goodnight (again) WDW and Brit folks...you stayed up late, huh?! :-)

Back to the trailer for me...I wonder how man times I can watch this thing?!

Wow, this is trailer is just amazing - there's something about his face that's so gorgeous (but we already knew that, didn't we?) Strong and powerful. :)

His voice and accent are just amazing, beautiful - like a classic film star, it reminds me of something. It works, very well. My favorite line is "yeah, don't press your luck!" :)

Everything, the action, the costumes, sets, just everything is gorgeous and believable, but especially Dastan, I love the way Tamina says his name. Can't wait to really get into the story.

Thanks !

Morning! Oh sleepy this morning after all of the excitement last night and guess who I dreamed of in the end?!

Morning BBMISwear :-) ET didn't show it? They really do make a habit of this. But I'm glad it went up on line when it was supposed to. I watched it so many times last night I may have bust it!

Hi Bertie! A perfect mix of beauty of strength - makes the heart pound, all right... I can't wait to get a better look at the costumes and sets - it's all so vibrant and colourful. So exciting :D

Have a good day everyone!

oh... seems like my company is not blocking the streaming of this IGN one! maybe I can watch it at lunch time.

I love those few close-up shots with his intense look and his eyes, omg.

I think he has good chemistry with Gemma, who is a good actress when she's not doing crap like St Trinian.

Jake rules! and the prince rules :)

oh.. and good morning!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Yeay, you can see it, Winterbird! I feel like Jake and the Prince have definitely impacted on my productivity levels... Jake rules! Dastan's not bad either....

could be better said...

Looks good, but it also looks like an average popcorn movie.

I wonder why Disney decided not to use Jake's voice - bad accent or too soft for the big hero role?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there! I disagree, not surprisingly :D The English accent was necessary I think. It fits the game - the Prince has an English accent - and also it fits with the rest of the cast. A Californian voice would have been completely out of tune with the rest of the movie. I don't think it's a matter of Jake having a 'bad' real accent or having too 'soft' a voice.

I'm in the frustrating positing of having watched this new version but not being able to hear it - arrggghhhh!

Anonymous said...

Well I`m in the opposite situation, WDW. I can hear it fine but my internet connexion is too slow at home, the image is like a slide show and I`m sure I don`t see every frame. I`ll have to wait to get to the office to see it after another boring all day long seminar. But judging by the screen caps you posted, it looks amazing. I wish I could see it now but at least it will give me something to look forward to at the end of my oh so exciting day.
And when things get too boring, I can replay the trailer in my head and dream of our leaping, flirting, prince. :)

I hope everyone has a good day!

err... I think "could be better" thinks it's not Jake's own voice in there... *mind boogles*

Jake is an actor and not Kevin Costner, so he should be able to do an English accent and he does a good job.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there Olympia! I can't wait to get home and study the new one closely. There are some stunning different images of Jake being transformed by the dagger. OMG incredible. The screencaps are lovely - I really enjoyed making those in the small hours :) I hope your dy isn't too boring :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Winterbird! Posting at the same time :D Really? Blimey. It's clearly Jake's voice and it's HOT!!!

Lunchtime can't come fast enough. Only another half an hour to go before I can see this properly.

I have always loved Jake's voice, and I am really impressed with what he's done for Prince of Persia. The voice is a big, big part of what an actor is, always has been since the dawn of theater. His accent in this can stand with anyone's in the film, from what I have heard in the trailer. Good work, Jake! Can't wait to see - it looks like a wonderful fantasy, something for everyone. :)

Wow, the latest trailer is a bit different, I love it! I'm loving Gemma's character in this, and I love the scene where Dastan pulls the swords from his back, as he runs forward, the look in his eyes - very powerful and graceful.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the two trailers, WDW!!!! I am SO excited! Can't wait to see this...which is a
360 degree turn from where I was on it when it was first announced. Jake looks and sounds amazing!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Carol! I hope you had a good lunch - I bet you did :D

Hey Bertie! Absolutely! I was concerned about the accent but that was a waste of energy because just listen to it - it's gorgeous and full of warmth. I'm really proud of him!

Hi 14:11 :D The new shorter trailer is a little different - I love seeing more of the transformation scene. And I love that bit with the swords too. I cannot wait for May!!!

My pleasure 14:45! And how hreat is that that you've changed your opinion after seeing the trailers. That's good news!

I hope everyone's having a good day and fitting a little bit of PoP into it (or a lot...)

Thank you WDW for your diligent efforts to bring us the latest in sand and Brit accents :D

and of course screencaps

After a lot of time on line yesterday I've had/will have very little today and it's sooooo frustrating when there is all this great Jake stuff out there!! I like the new trailer, too, but it feels like it is more for the gamers and the first one is more for the Gyllenhaalics...LOL! But I was happy to see that the "You're...I...." scene was included. *falls over (again)*

His voice? O-M-G. And that's all I have to say about that!!

Oh...and the full set of screen caps on IHJ? Whoowheee! Thank you Stephanie at IHJ for that! And thank you WDW for keeping up with everything - what a whirlwind it has been - with more to come! YAY!!

I hope I get back on line later...I may have withdrawals if I don't...ha ha!

:-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Finally back home and relaxing, looking at the trailer, looking at IHJ's fantastic caps :)

Thanks Sweetpea!

Hi BBMISwear :-) It really is difficult having to carry on as normal when I just want to spend time here and watching what's going on! It's been so so long since we've had this much excitement in Jakeland :)

I really like the new trailer - not as much as the long one (as that has more Jake in it!) but I think because it does have more bits that remind me of the game. But I'll take as many trailers as I can get! The voice is just amazing and I want to hear more - I'm greedy!

Have a good evening everyone :) I hope Jake's enjoying all the attention too!

paulh said...

Those pictures are awesome! I've snagged a few for my desktop at work. :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

They really are, Paul - absolutely stunning. I love the colours and light - everything about them - wonderful :)

Gordon Bennett! said...

I'm afraid I'm with "Could be better" here :-( It looks/sounds to me as if they have dubbed Jake's dialogue (badly) with another actor's voice-over.

It should be scheduled for a Christmas release because it has "Turkey" written all over it on this brief evidence. For Jake's sake,I truly, madly, deeply hope I'm wrong :-/

I wasn't able to see ET last night, because I wasn't home - so I thought I'd tune in for the late night rebroadcast - but I saw a program called Extra instead, and they had the trailer as part of the closing credits (first one). I love the new DisneyUK one, love the soundtrack of it.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I strongly disagree with you on every count, Gordon B. That is clearly Jake's voice, it's clearly not dubbed and if this is a turkey I'm an ostrich. Maybe this isn't the film for you.

It's odd. I went through a fase of near obsession with Jake about two years ago now and it was so frustrating because there were barely any new interviews, news nevermind a new film. I havn't been on any 'Jake' sites for about 6 months and now everythings happening im not as excited as i would like to be :( but i still love him :)

I like the look of the trailer! I really like the music in the second trailer..i wonder what it will be like for the film.

I've been on various websites showing the trailer and the general oppinion from the comments ive seen is bad :( Jake seems to have a lot of haters out there and it's not fair. Personally, POP doesnt look like a film i would usually go and see, but of course i'll make the effort for Jake :)

Sorry for babbling. I love your blog WDW!

Hi Anon! I don't think you missed anything with ET but that's great that you caught it on another show :D It just seems so random - on US and UK TV - where it popped up yesterday. But I'm so glad we got it online and now in two versions. I love it too! I've been enjoying relaxing late this evening with it :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Stephh! Posting at the same time - well, I'm glad PoP brought you back, to whatever degree :D This film presents a problem for some because they are so devoted to the game, which is an institution. And I sympathise because I remember playing the original years ago and I love the Prince. But there is also a lot of very positive reaction - some people have been won over by seeing Jake in the last day - the physicality and the energy, and the recreation of some of the game's moves.

After the last two years, it's been so wonderful now, getting a taste of what's to come with three movies on the way, maybe four, and who knows what else Jake will do next. I like to think that PoP will actually win over some people to Jake and back to Jake.

I really like the music in the second trailer too. I'd love to know what it is.

I'm so glad that you like the blog and that you dipped in and commented! Thank you! Maybe the excitement will build for you. I'm just really glad that you've joined in. So welcome and do come back!

It's most definitely his voice - it's very sexy, combined with his looks, I love the banter, and when he stammers, he's got a kind of presence or something. I love the narration in both trailers. I really want to see the entire thing, because this is just a tease. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon! I totally agree and I don't understand why anyone could think that's not Jake's voice?! or why they think a trained actor can't do an accent - all right some trained actors can do an accent and do it badly but people don't think it's dubbed, so just because Jake does it well...? I don't know...

You're very right, this is just a teaser - and look what we get in it, with the bantering and that stammer? I want to see much more of Dastan - I love what jake's done with him. I think we need to see the entire movie RIGHT NOW!

Anonymous said...

Apparently the doubters out there weren't aware of the crew person who talked about Jake using the accent when not filming and how the crew after a while forgot he was American.
Also think a number of people have no idea of who Jake is as an actor. They may of seen one or two of his movies and they seem to not rem. he was nominated for an Oscar.
He's highly regarded as an actor.
As with any movie the people on it spend many hours and work hard.
He Really worked hard on this one and had the respect of the cast and crew.
I'm sure there will be many people who have never played the game and only heard of it and some who not at all. They will go to the movie for the fantasy & entertainment.
Nothing wrong with "entertainment" and being a popcorn movie.

Haven't had much online time today. Both of the trailers are great. They seem to have been a bit random where they appeared on tv. Have to say love those screencaps.

Have to agree that is most definitely Jake's voice. I'm not a gamer or a huge fan of those blockbuster type movies so I had a lot of reservations about this movie. But from what we've seen so far I'm looking forward to it now and seeing more of Jake and Gemma together. They appear to have a really good on screen chemistry.

Looking forward to all the interviews and articles about this and Brothers in the coming months. Brothers Tommy stole my heart already but I think the Prince is putting up a convincing fight to take it off him:)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon :) It's very true that this film will introduce Jake to a whole new crowd - we're going to have to share him, sigh - but I think he really has done himself proud here and I'm so impressed by that accent. It's not often you hear a good put on English accent, Jake's managed it! I like to think that this film will have wide appeal too. The introduction of Gemma's character shows it's no straightforward game adaptation. If only we didn't have to wait...

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Carol! Posting at the same time :D It's interesting, isn't it, how this film is bringing together - and dividing - the gamers and the moviegoers. I feel quite fortunate with this that I love the games but I adore Jake more so I'm only happy that Jake's the one who's playing such a well-loved game character. A double bonus for me. I think Jake will win quite a few gamers round - the trailer has already caught a few and that's just two minutes worth. And I like what I've seen of Gemma. I couldn't place her character as it's new but now I'm getting a feel of it. Like it :)

I am so ready for Brothers publicity, it's not funny. The film is out in the US in just a month and there's next to nothing. The distributor has been trying to get attention today, but only by quoting on twitter stories from other sources, from Interview or the LA Times - it's not good enough. Its good to see that PoP has such a publicity machine behind it, it makes up a little for Brothers. I'm very disappointed that Brothers appears to be coming out with none of the attention it deserves. There's a month for me to be proved wrong - that's not long, is it?

I'm imagining the fight going on in you, Carol, between Tommy and Dastan!

Anonymous said...

I just re-watched the first trailer - it's wonderful, the actions scenes are intense, I love the transformation when Dastan holds the dagger, and his flying hair looks so natural and beautiful. I love that scene of him drawing his swords and lunging, the look in his eyes.

Carol said...

I'm very disappointed with the lack of a publicity machine for Brothers due to the Irish dimension of Jim Sheridan and the U2 songs. There hasn't been a mention of it so far on the radio or tv here in Ireland. I'm keeping my ears peeled and I will give an update if I hear anything. I'm afraid it's going to go unnoticed and from what I've seen it deserves more.

The battle is still raging between Tommy and the Prince. Tommy is still winning but that may change the more I see of the Prince!!!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon! I love those two scenes too - they really stood out for me in the second trailer. I liked how we saw more of the game concepts in the second one. But, yes, the hair was great! Much more life to it than I expected - I'm now won over to Jake with long hair, and I never thought I'd say that :D

It's so frustrating, Carol - we really should be getting more publicity for Brothers now, especially in Ireland! And if there is to be a big Irish premiere in November as Sheridan suggested, maybe it's time to hear about that too! I just feel that Brothers deserves more. I want people to see it! Thanks for keeping your ears open for us :)

Monica said...

This trailer is very good. It exceeded my expectations.
I was impressed to see that they used elements of the three games in the movie. This is great!

It was very funny to see Tamina almost hitting the Dastan with the arrow. Something very common in the game!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning Monica! That is such a good scene - I love it when he's climbing up on the arrows :D It'll be fun picking the game bits!

Have a good day everyone! Is it Friday yet...?

Hi, WDW

I think we should take the negative comments with a grain of salt. People may complain about this or that, but on some level they may appreciate the project as a whole. Love and hate are two sides of the same coin.

Jake himself has said that he always hopes his movies strike a chord with people. Love is okay, hate is okay, but indifference is the enemy.

paulh said...

A little off-topic, but there's a new book by Darian Leader called "The New Black." It's about depressiion and wourning, and it devotes a chapter to "Brokeback Mountain."

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Paul! I do agree that love and hate are emotions one would expect when viewing something as subjective as a movie. But I do like it when people get their facts right :)

Thanks for the info about the book - that's interesting how the impact of Brokeback now extends far beyond the theatres.
